“Hold infinity in the palm of your hand.” A functional description of time expressions through fingers based on Chinese Sign Language naturalistic data

This paper investigates the relationship between fingers and time representations in naturalistic Chinese Sign Language (CSL). Based on a CSL Corpus (Shanghai Variant, 2016–), we offer a thorough description of finger configurations for time expressions from 63 deaf signers, including three main types: digital, numeral incorporation, and points-to-fingers. The former two were further divided into vertical and horizontal fingers according to the orientation of fingertips. The results showed that there were interconnections between finger representations, numbers, ordering, and time in CSL. Vertical fingers were mainly used to quantify time units, whereas horizontal fingers were mostly used for sequencing or ordering events, and their forms could be influenced by Chinese number characters and the vertical writing direction. Furthermore, the use of points-to-fingers (e.g., pointing to the thumb, index, or little finger) formed temporal connectives in CSL and could be patterned to put a conversation in order. Additionally, CSL adopted similar linguistic forms in sequential time and adverbs of reason (e.g., cause and effect: events that happened earlier and events that happen later). Such a cause-and-effect relationship was a special type of temporal sequence. In conclusion, fingers are essential for time representation in CSL and their forms are biologically and culturally shaped.

Pamali: Intervensi dan Pengaruhnya terhadap Pembentukan Pola Pikir Logis Remaja dalam Masyarakat Banjar

Pamali is one of the rules in society that is socialized and taught by parents to children in the form of prohibitions accompanied by threats with the intention of making it a control over children's behavior. Every parent's advice certainly has a good intention, but often the prohibitions that are collected in the pamali category are difficult to understand and even there is no relevance between cause and effect if violated. However, this tradition is able to intervene and influence the logical thinking ability of adolescents in Banjar society. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects included some students of SMA Global Islamic Boarding School. The technique used in retrieval of information is purposive sampling, namely by taking research subjects who meet the following criteria: 1) students who are familiar with the term pamali, 2) students born in the Banjar community, 3) students who are included in the category of having a high and low logical mindset. The results showed that the pamali tradition as folklore has a vital role in influencing the logical thinking patterns of adolescents. This is shown by their fear which is more dominant than their belief in the pamali tradition. Teenagers who believe in the pamali tradition tend to have an excessive fear of the consequences that do contain a lot of bad luck in it. Adolescents who have low logical thinking skills tend to believe in the pamali tradition. Then when compared to teenagers who have good logical thinking skills, they tend to be better able to filter the impact of the pamali tradition.

АНАЛІЗУВАННЯ ПЕРЕВАГ У ПРОЦЕСАХ РОЗВИТКУ СОЦІАЛЬНОЇ ВІДПОВІДАЛЬНОСТІ ЗАКЛАДІВ ВИЩОЇ ОСВІТИ НА РИНКУ ОСВІТНІХ ПОСЛУГ

The paper seeks to explore the current issues that deepen the understanding of the benefits of social responsibility in higher education institutions. In particular, it is observed that interpreting social responsibility as a philosophical category or an ideological concept is limited to identifying only the boundaries of the company's responsibility for its effects on society and the environment. However, an emphasis is put that to implement a socially responsible strategy, a company should build a model to manage social responsibility and its integration into the key business processes: production, sales management, logistics, and personnel management. The hypothesis of the study is that making use of the benefits in developing social responsibility in higher education institutions will contribute to boosting their competitiveness in the educational services market. The purpose of the study is to provide insights into the benefits of developing social responsibility in higher education institutions in the educational services market. The methodological basis of the study is the neo-institutional theory which assumes concluding contracts (transactions) between counterparties based on a cycle of "negotiations, accepting and fulfilling of obligations"; an institutional paradigm as a process of interaction between the government and the society which negotiates, accepts and fulfils obligations as to organizational and financial involvement in socially responsible activities. The findings have identified cause and effect relationships that determine the terms and the degree of shaping social responsibility in higher education institutions which are of a two-fold character. It is argued that the maturity of social responsibility of the government and higher education institutions significantly enhances their competitiveness. The results of research provide evidence on the existence of certain University social responsibility patterns. However, it is noted that at the early development phase, certain volatility is observed in cause and effect relationships between social responsibility factors, causes and drivers in society as a whole and in terms of differentiated business units including higher education institutions.

The Actualization of Tazkiyatun Nafs Values in The Moral Development of Students of The Ulul Albab Islamic Studies Organization (KSI) UIN Padang

<p><em>This study focuses on examining the actualization of the values </em><em></em><em>of Tazkiyatun Nafs in the moral development of the students of the KSI Ulul Albab organization UIN Imam Bonjol. The thought of Imam Al-Ghazali and other scholars about the tazkiyatun nafs is very interesting and important to apply as a moral basis in developing the morals of the people, especially the development of the younger generation. By using descriptive qualitative research by conducting interviews with students who are active in KSI, it is concluded that the actualization of the values </em><em></em><em>of tazkiyah al-nafs in building morals and religious character in instilling noble souls and having al-karimah character. then from the application of the values </em><em></em><em>of tazkiyah al-nafs it also includes a strategy in the habituation of students of the KSI Ulul Albab organization in the hope of creating student discipline and changing bad morals or being therapy for bad souls into good morals. Even the application of tazkiyah al-nafs values </em><em></em><em>in the form of mental therapy. Tazkiyah al-nafs in the form of mental therapy is based on the argument that the human soul can be treated. Efforts to treat mental illness must be done through science and charity. Identification and classification of barriers and benefits of requirements traceability in project development

Requirements are conditions that a product, service, or process must present and requirements management facilitates this realization. For this, the requirements traceability technique is used for the development of projects and systems and all management of the requirements life cycle. However, the literature recognizes the proven benefits of adherence to the technique, but the plurality of problems inhibits its adherence. Thus, this article aims to identify and classify the barriers and benefits of requirements traceability. For this purpose, it was elaborated a systematic literature review, and for the results´ analysis and codification, the MAXQDA software was used. A total of 15 barriers and 15 benefits were identified. It is possible to verify that both in the case of benefits and barriers, there is a cause and effect relationship between them. In other words, barriers such as “Low flexibility and integration of tools” lead to the emergence of other barriers such as “Management inefficiency”.

The problem with the research is that economic units are poorly aware of the theoretical and philosophical foundations of cause-and-effect analysis and their importance in costing and solving administrative problems and inadequate attention to financial and non-financial measures. In order to achieve the objective of research and test its hypotheses, the Wasit Textile and Weaving Plant of the State Company for the Textile and Leather Industries, located in the centre of the Wasit prefecture, has been selected as a centre for research. Its performance has been evaluated and a model has been presented to solve the problems it faces through a cause-and-effect analysis scheme with a sustainable balanced tag card (SBSC) that details all environmental and social aspects, both quantitative and financial.
