In a world and travel universe subject to continuous change, the tourism industry is under ever greater pressure to evolve and respond to the world it inhabits - in order to survive. The object of the paper is to discuss and analyze, some of the important issues and trends relating to tourism industries. In particular, ways in which the industry and its consumers are being affected and affecting these trends. The first two sections deploy elements of a steep analysis in order to detect significant demographic and macro political forces affecting tourism industries. Section three considers the “day-to-day…sphere” of travel and tourism, its ‘microenvironment’ and the competitive industry and markets forces they encounter there. The paper reviews one of the most significant micro trends affecting the airline sector: the dynamic growth of low cost carriers. The last part of this work looks into strategic and analytic models associated with tourism, highlighting some of the strategic directional trends being adapted to tourism sectors and into new collaborative forms of social media, communications and marketing.

This research compares tourism competitiveness of two neighboring countries, Romania and Bulgaria, which have many similarities economically as well as from a geopolitical and historical perspective. Despite these similarities, immediately after the 1990s, which marked the fall of the communist regime, the tourism phenomenon in the two countries had divergent evolutions. As the tourism industry in Bulgaria, especially its seaside tourism, underwent unprecedented development, the tourism activity in Romania systematically lost its competitiveness. The factors affecting the appearance and increase of such a difference are of interest to the Romanian seaside tourism. To generate the answer to this problem, we perform a series of comparative analyses with data from the World Economic Forum, in terms of the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report (2011-2015), `the National Authority for Tourism of Romania, and the National Institute of Statistics from Romania and Bulgaria. We identified a series of constitutive elements relating to the success of the Bulgarian seaside tourism and a sequence of deficiencies in the strategic and organizational maneuvers of the tourism activity at the Romanian seaside.

This study examines the impact of ICT readiness on the tourism industry and how it leads to growing competitiveness by deploying three-panel data analysis techniques (pooled OLS, fixed effects, dynamic GMM) with 177 nations for the period 2011 to 2019. ICT readiness is gauged using the World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index, whereas tourism's contribution towards economic progress is gauged by overall international traveler arrival. The observations indicate that ICT readiness causes a statistically significant effect on tourism's role in economic progress. Tourism policy effects and guidelines for future works are discussed as well.

The Covid 19 pandemic has impacted the world and almost brought the entire world to a complete standstill. Most of the industries have been affected adversely as countries across the world went on lockdowns and imposed restrictions on travel, trade, and businesses. The tourism, Aviation, and Hospitality industry are among the few that have been most affected due to the pandemic, as pleasure travel had almost ceased to zero and many countries worldwide had closed their borders restricting international tourists. In order to survive this, the travel industry players had to cut down their employees and their pay. Many tourism professionals have lost their jobs or have their jobs at stake. This paper focuses on analyzing the overall impacts of the pandemic on the travel and tourism industry of India. The study aims at understanding the challenges faced by the different players in the tourism industry to survive the pandemic. The study also sheds light on the opportunities that await in the future on a post-Covid scenario and some of the methods adopted by the industry players to manage the future demand in the most sustainable and safe manner. The paper is conceptual and purely based on literature reviews of various research papers focusing on the Covid pandemic on a global scale.

Abstract The travel and tourism industry is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in the world. In the case of countries like Georgia, where tourism is a priority sector of the economy, innovation is crucial for a tourism-based development strategy — and this has become particularly important in the post-pandemic realities. This paper proposes a certain framework for understanding the possibilities for harnessing technological innovations in the travel industry (particularly apps and websites). It then considers the specific example of the country of Georgia, outlining the state’s measures meant to foster IT innovation in tourism and also certain moderate successes to date in this respect. Next, the paper looks to Russian tourist-sector start-ups as models for operation that be successfully harnessed in the Georgian tourism industry, examining several such Russian start-ups in closer detail.

Subject Outlook for the tourism sector in Southern Africa. Significance Last month, the African Development Bank's Africa Tourism Monitor ranked South Africa third on the continent for international tourist arrivals. In the wider Southern African Development Community (SADC), the travel and tourism industry contributed 20.6 billion dollars to regional economies -- 20.5% higher than in 2010. However, restrictive visa policies and poor coordination between member states mean the industry is performing below potential. Impacts Growth in safari vacation offerings will focus on the luxury market in a bid to tap into resilient high-net-worth spending. Preparations for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Durban will improve the city's tourism infrastructure. Protectionist policies will hinder cross-border low-cost airline growth, which will remain restricted to domestic markets. Several regional cities will compete to attract lucrative business conferences, increasing pressure to invest in world-class venues.

This article analyses the Global and Ukrainian hotel industry development statistics and in particular, camping in 2020. In order to find ways to improve the competitiveness of Ukrainian campsites we look at statistics about travel and tourism impact of COVID-19. The hotel services sector remains today one of the most dynamically developed sectors of the Ukrainian economy. In recent years, the hotel market in Ukraine is gradually recovering after a sharp drop in 2014. Against this background, more and more investors are planning to buy a ready-made hotel business such as campsites. It is established that the development of the hotel industry is facilitated by the opening of low-cost airlines, which leads to an increase of foreign tourists number. However, according to the forecasts of the World travel and tourism council, the share of tourism in Ukraini-an GDP by 2028 will increase to only 1.7%, and the number of foreigners visiting Ukraine in a year will increase to 21 million from the current 15 in 2028 (the share of tourists among them less, since statistics take into account transit travelers), which indicates the low attractiveness of Ukraine as a tourist destination. The low pace of de-velopment of the industry is due to COVID-19 in the beginning of 2020 and the absence in Ukraine of legislation favorable for the development of the tourist industry and the necessary infrastructure, and the lack of quality ho-tels and campsites. Therefore, despite the increase in inbound tourist flow, Ukrainians themselves have been and remain the main guests of Ukrainian hotels and campsites, and the volume of domestic tourism continues to grow rapidly, especially in the south of the country. It is proved that hotel services markets of various levels including campsites represent an excellent opportunity for hotel operators to confidently enter the Ukrainian market and pursue a policy of expanding their influence in the industry. The dynamics of their development depends on how effectively the hospitality industry representatives will carry out the analysis of the market situation, which will also depend on the composition of participants in the Ukrainian hospitality industry market. The article analyzes Global and Ukrainian markets key camping statistics for 2020, identifies and explores key trends in the camping industry by demographics, best destinations, equipment, types of camping, customer behavior and reasoning, the latest technologies and other indicators. Introducing professionals and experts with the results of the article will contribute to positive changes in the Ukrainian camping market, which will increase the number of investors interested in doing camping business in Ukraine. Ukraine has a huge potential for the development of camping tourism, and the article should be the first step to increase interest in the development of this type of hotel business and prosperity in this niche. Stabilization of the situation with coronovirus throughout the world, as well as in Ukraine, improving the political situation and improving economic indicators, technological progress development and following global trends in the development of the hospitality industry, investment growth in the tourism sector and the reanimation of recreational, protected and natural sites in Ukraine will lead to successful development of campsites in our country. Keywords: camping competitiveness, camping statistics 2020, tourism statistics, hospitality market statistics.
