In 2018, as part of an Hotel Project to be built in the area bounded by Rua Vasco da Gama and Rua Santo António (Faro), nine diagnostic surveys and archaeological monitoring of all earth movements were carried out in the area to be intervened, until the allocation level of the work. The archaeological work allowed to unveil part of the old urban layout of Baixa de Faro and contexts associated with the daily life of the population in Modern times. Due to the expansion of the city outside the primitive nucleus (Vila-Adentro), this area was integrated, in the 16th century, by a new walled enclosure, indicating a continuous occupation of the area at present day.

The Festival of Indigenous Tribes or Festribal is an event that has been held annually since 1995 in the city of Juruti (Pará), in the Brazilian Amazon, and comprises the competition between the “tribes” Munduruku and Muirapinima, competing in this manifestation of popular culture. The Amazon simultaneously synthesizes the uniqueness and complexity of a territory that in a very old time had an abundant scenario, inhabited by several human groups (tribes), in addition to, in modern times, adding brand and product. From the 16th century onwards, with the colonization and the arrival of the European, there was a tension between cultures that resulted in double consciousness, the effect of the widespread violence that was transmuted, being evident in popular festivals. With a focus on the cultural diversity of the region and the commercialization of its products, advertising created the “brand” Amazônia, at parties, music, dance, regional craftsmanship etc., and, based on the origin and projection of the party, this article sought to identify in the lyrics of the songs of the Festa dos tribos, in 2019, ways of resistance represented in this manifestation of popular culture and the way in which this feeling is expressed. From a qualitative approach and exploratory objective, a semiotic analysis of the event was carried out, through the audiovisual on the YouTube Platform - by the perception and apprehension of the feelings of these peoples. Although re-signified, the indigenous festivals have perpetuated based on orality, storytelling of their peoples, myths, beliefs and festivals experienced by their ancestors. In modern times, Royal Prussia used to be a multi-denominational and multicultural area. Elbląg, one of the three great Prussian cities, had a similar character until 1772. Since the middle of the 16th century, many Poles from Lithuania and the Crown, including Mazovia, came to this Lutheran town. The preserved Catholic metric books and the matricules of the academic gymnasium established in 1535 in Elbląg allow a study of the presence of the Mazovians in Elbląg in the past. In the source material, apart from the personal data, also the place of origin, age and sometimes family and social status were recorded. In total, 66 newcomers from Mazovia were registered in the archives of Elbląg. They did not play any significant role in the history of the city.

Beginning in the early 1970s, Jewish and Muslim feminists, tackled “oral law”—Mishna and Talmud, in Judaism, and the parallel Hadith and Fiqh in Islam, and several analogous methodologies were devised. A parallel case study of maintenance and rebellion of wives —mezonoteha, moredet al ba?ala; nafaqa al-mar?a and nush?z—in classical Jewish and Islamic oral law demonstrates similarities in content and discourse. Differences between the two, however, were found in the application of oral law to daily life, as reflected in “responsa”—piskei halacha and fatwas. In modern times, as the state became more involved in regulating maintenance and disobedience, and Jewish law was backed for the first time in history by a state, state policy and implementation were influenced by the political system and socioeconomic circumstances of the country. Despite their similar origin in oral law, maintenance and rebellion have divergent relevance to modern Jews and Muslims.

AbstractThe camp and the city are both important for understanding the relationship between space and identity in the refugee experience of exile. In the Palestinian example, the camp has emerged as a potent symbol in the narrative of exile although only a third of refugees registered with UNRWA live in camps. Moreover, the city and urban refugees remain missing in most of the scholarship on the Palestinian experience with space, exile, and identity. Furthermore, there is little attention to how refugees understand the concept of the city and camp in their daily life. This article examines how Palestinian urban refugees in the Old City of Damascus conceptualized the relationship between the camp and the city. It illustrates how the concept of the camp remained necessary for the construction of their collective national identity while in Syria. However, the city was essential in the articulation of individual desires and establishing social distinction from other refugees. Thus, during a protracted exile it is in the interstice between the city and the camp, where most urban refugees in the Old City situated themselves, that informed their national belonging and personal aspirations.

Abstract This research is discuss about the important figure in the development of waqf in Sarajevo by the governor of Bosnia in the 16th century, Gazi Husrev Beg. His important role in developing the city of Sarajevo through his waqf institutions had a positive impact on the local community. Sarajevo, which was originally a small settlement changed into a well-organized city and a thriving trading center in the early 16th century. Although Gazi Husrev Beg was not a pioneer of waqf establishment in Sarajevo, but the development of the city of Sarajevo was seen to reach its peak after his waqf institution, especially the waqf complex and bezistan (closed market) began to be built. Therefore, this writing aims to examine the waqf of Gazi Husrev Beg in Sarajevo as well as look at the development of the city as a result of his waqf. The methodology of this research is focused on information obtained from library research such as books, journal articles, theses and websites. In addition, this study also obtained data from the Medrese Kurshumliya Museum which is a museum within the Gazi Husrev Beg waqf complex. Thus, the findings of this research identify that Gazi Husrev Beg had his own waqf complex as commonly did by the Ottoman rulers in Anatolia. In addition to establishing waqf institutions, he and his wife, Shahdidar also provided loans to businessmen through the money invested by them, subsequently setting the interest for each loan at the rate allowed by the fatwa of the Ottoman mufti. Through the benefits of the loan, it is change into cash waqf to be channeled for building maintenance and payment of salaries for employees at the waqf institution with the existence of this waqf building, the city of Sarajevo developed into an important administrative and commercial center throughout the era of Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This project aims to emphasize the relevance of interventions in the cities are made by a direct mode of popular participation, both in the elaboration and in the implementation of landscape architecture and urban proposals. A collaborative process was shaped to embody the notion that there is a “local knowledge, which is nurtured by the daily life”, as Milton Santos (1997, p.7) argues. Here, we narrate the methodological construction and the process of design experience in this case at the Laranjeiras.district. With this, we expect to demonstrate how the design and building of the city can be developed thorough participative and collaborative processes. In the second half of the 16th century in Lviv were conducted meeting of the Border Commission. The Commissionresolved the controversial questions related to the land issue and ordering its boundaries. During its implementation, city delegates and commissioners often stopped for rest and lunch. Meat, fish, bread, various spices and wine wereaccompanied participants of the Borders Commission during joint meetings, whether at the City Hall or outside it.This and other information is vividly illustrated by a source such as the Lviv weekly-expenditures book for 1572–1582. This source has big information potential. In the Lviv weekly-expenditures books you can find informationabout the activities of the city authorities (councils and benches of the city of Lviv); the acomplishment of functions by city officials (such as the executioner); routine affairs in the city, etc. This publication provides three fragments ofthe source of the Boundary Commission meeting for 1578, 1579, 1581.The Boundary Commission of 1578 was held on the eve of the Birthday of John the Baptist (June 24) and lasted fromJune 20 to June 23, 1578. The source does not provide specific details of the dispute, but it can be assumed that a soildispute arose between a monastic order of Lviv Dominicans and Bryukhovychi peasants. During the joint lunchesand dinners in the suburban tavern in Bryukhovychi, for four days, the commissioners drank three barrels of beer, 22jugs (85 liters) of Hungarian wine, consumed veal; fish and herrings (most likely eaten on Friday June 22); breadand other dishes cooked for them.In 1579, the Commission resolved the disputed issues between the city and Lviv’s podstoli, Joakim Samp. During itsmeeting on the second Sunday of Lent in 1579, were present Lviv’s castellans Stanislav Herburth and Lviv starostaMykola Herburth. Each of them was presented with 8 jugs of Malvasia for greetings. To feed the delegates werepurchased variety of fish, bread, spices, vegetables, condiments and 27 jugs of Malvasia. It is interesting that theCommissioners did not consume meat under the Border Commission because it took place during Lent. The Borders Commission, in October 1581, was also involved in resolving the dispute between Joachim Samp and thecommunity of Lviv. The meetings of the Commission were followed by lavish dinners. In particular, to the borders thatwere checked was bought 2 barrels of beer, two-quarters of meat, 5 chickens, bread, various roots. On Tuesday, October13, 1581, all the commissioners and guests, including Mykola Herburt, the Lviv starosta and Mykola Meletsky, the Podolsk voivode, and all their servants were gratulated in Sikhiv Korchma. For festive supper was bought twocalves, four quarters of meat, 2 barrels of beer, rye and white bread, vegetables, lemons, raisins, sugar, 4 vessels ofjam, 35 ½ jugs of wine and 6 jugs of alicakantu.
