The objective of this research was to determine the level of knowledge and awareness of diabetic emergencies among Turkish bus drivers. Methods. The universe of this descriptive and cross-sectional study was all the individuals working as bus drivers in the Mediterranean Region between January-June 2019, and the study sample was 1292 drivers who met the inclusion criteria of the research. Data were collected by the Personal Information Form and the Diabetic Emergency Information and Awareness Survey Form. Descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used in data evaluation. Results. The average age of bus drivers participating in the study was 38.29 ± 9.44 years, while their average work experience was 12.50 ± 8.92 years. Among them, 14.9% of bus drivers had a diabetic family member; 23.7% of bus drivers had a first aid certificate; 11.5% of bus drivers received diabetes-related training. The average score of drivers for the level of knowledge and awareness regarding diabetic emergencies was found to be 15.39 ± 4.72. There was a statistically significant difference between the drivers’ average scores for the level of knowledge and awareness and their age, education status, work experience, the presence of chronic disease, the presence of a diabetic family member, the presence of a first aid certificate, diabetes-related training, the place of receiving this training variables (p < 0.05). Conclusions. Bus drivers were found to have above average levels of knowledge and awareness of diabetic emergencies. Bus drivers are recommended to be trained on diabetic emergencies and raising awareness of diabetes mellitus to ensure a proper intervention in case of emergencies in individuals with diabetes mellitus during travels.

INTRODUCTION. Present knowledge of population on basic characteristics of tuberculosis is a significant issue of prevention of tuberculosis. OBJECTIVE. The objective of our study was to determine the level of knowledge on risk factors of tuberculosis among tubercular patients. METHOD. A total of 115 new patients with the active pulmonary tuberculosis were interviewed by means of anonymous questionnaire, who has been treated at the Institute of Pulmonary Diseases, Sremska Kamenica during six-month period (October 2003-March 2004). RESULTS. The patients fulfilled the questionnaire; 37.6 % had no or finished only elementary school, and 58.6 % considered genetics the main risk factor of tuberculosis. Every second patient believed that he could not catch tuberculosis if he suffered from diabetes mellitus or any kind of tumor. 8.7 % of patients who suffered from diabetes mellitus had been informed by their physicians that could catch tuberculosis one day. Every third patient did not possess sewage system and nearly 20% lived in moist flats. Around 85% had no regular salaries or these were significantly under the average Serbian income per capita in this period (12820 dinars-CSD). Leading risk factors that can contribute to development of tuberculosis were as follows: irregular nutrition (91.4 %), smoking (74.2 %), alcohol consumption (65.5%) and associated diseases (diabetes mellitus, tumors). Only 15% of them believed that all these risk factors (smoking, alcohol, irregular diet) could participate together in development of tuberculosis, and not as individual factors. Analyzing the patients? knowledge on risk factors of tuberculosis, in relation to their educational level and alcohol and cigarettes consumption, there was no significant difference (p<0.05). Nevertheless, analyzing the quality of life in patients? houses, in relation to salary and bad habits (alcohol, cigarettes) as risk factors of tuberculosis, significant statistical difference was found (p>0.05). CONCLUSION. Intensive and permanent education of population is necessary primarily considering the knowledge on tuberculosis that would be the basis of reducing the number of patients and leading to possible eradication of this disease.

ABSTRAKKeberhasilan pengobatan diabetes melitus tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh kualitas pelayanan kesehatan, keterampilan petugasnya, sikap, dan pola hidup pasien, tetapi dipengaruhi juga oleh kepatuhan pasien terhadap pengobatannya. Tingkat kepatuhan minum obat pasien diabetes mellitus di Indonesia mayoritas masih berada dibawah 50%. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengukur pengaruh edukasi melalui media booklet terhadap pengetahuan dan kepatuhan pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). Populasi yang didapat dari penelitian ini sebanyak 40 orang dengan kelompok kontrol 20 orang dan kelompok intervensi 20 orang. Kelompok kontrol merupakan kelompok yang tidak mendapatkan booklet, sedangkan kelompok intervensi adalah kelompok yang mendapatkan booklet sebagi media edukasi. Pengetahuan dan kepatuhan responden diukur melalui kuesioner yang diberikan sebelum (pretest) dan 2 minggu kemudian (posttest). Rata-rata skor pengetahuan dan kepatuhan pre-test dibandingkan dengan skor post-test dengan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, terjadi perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan dan kepatuhan yang signifikan (p value < 0,001) antara sebelum dan sesudah pemberian booklet pada kelompok intervensi dan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada tingkat pengetahuan (p value = 0,83) dan kepatuhan (p value = 0,317) pada kelompok kontrol. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media booklet dapat meningkatkan tingkat pengetahuan dan kepatuhan pada pasien diabetes melitus.Kata-kata kunci: Diabetes melitus, pengetahuan, kepatuhan, bookletABSTRACTThe success of a treatment of diabetes mellitus is not only influenced by the quality of health services, the skills of its officers, attitudes, and lifestyle of patients, but it is also influenced by patient adherence to treatment. The level of medication compliance among diabetes patients in Indonesia were still below 50%. The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of education through booklet media on the knowledge and compliance of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The type of research used was Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). The population obtained from this study were 40 people with a control group of 20 people and an intervention group of 20 people. The control group was the group that did not get the booklet, while the intervention group was the group that received the booklet as an educational medium. Knowledge and compliance of respondents was measured through questionnaires given before (pretest) and 2 weeks later (posttest). The average score of knowledge and adherence between pretest and posttest will be compared using Wilcoxon analysis. Based on the results of data analysis with the Wilcoxon test, there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge and compliance (p value < 0.001) between before and after booklet administration in the intervention group and no significant difference in knowledge level (p value = 0.83) and compliance (p value = 0.317) in the control group. It can be concluded that the booklet media can increase the level of knowledge and compliance in diabetes mellitus patients.Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, knowledge, compliance, booklet

Introduction: In patients who are not able to feed the mouth, but the digestive system has the ability to digest food, enteral feeding is used. This method is safe and affordable for the patient, leading to maintaining the function of the digestive system, reducing the risk of infection and sepsis. However, failure to properly implement this type of feeding causes problems such as pneumonia aspiration, infection, diarrhea, blockage of the enteral feeding, and if the above feeding method is implemented in accordance with its standard, it can play a major role in reducing the burden of complications and improving the quality of life, reducing the length of hospitalization, and reducing their costs. Method: This is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study. The researchers studied 37 nurses working in general and nervous wards who fed patients with gastrostomy. The checklist that was verified in terms of validity and reliability was used to collect information. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (frequency and mean) and inferential statistics (paired t-test, Spearman correlation coefficient, analysis of variance with repeated observations) were used. Results: The results showed that the mean score of actions in all stages (before, during, after implementation) was significantly lower than standard (p<0.001). There was also a reverse relationship between the score of actions in all three stages (before, during, after implementation) with work experience and duration of work experience in the section. There was also a significant difference between the mean score of actions in all three stages between female and male (p-value -0.331), so that the average score of female was higher than that of male. Also, there was a significant difference between the mean score of the actions in all three stages and the employment status of the samples. The mean score of informal people was higher than the official ones. Conclusion: According to the findings, the mean score of the measures before, during and after the implementation of feeding through gastrostomy was significantly lower than the standard (p<0.001), to enteral  feeding a gynecologist at gastre and intrology, a clinical nurse and a nutritionist should educate patients and their families and personnel about the preparation and storage of food, the administration of food, the care of the entrance of the enteral  and the enteral  feeding, in light of the problems and complications of this type of feeding [1,2]. Based on the findings of the present study, nurses' retraining, especially men nurses, nurses with more work experience and formal nurses in the field of proper nursing clinical skills such as this type of feeding is needed.

Context: First aid is an emergency measure of saving a life, preventing further deterioration, and promoting recovery of the victim before professional medical help is initiated.  Awareness campaigns are significant community efforts to raise awareness of community groups regarding critical concerns. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the first aid awareness campaign on student knowledge among two undergraduate nursing cohorts. Methods: A quasi-experimental research (pre/post-test design) is selected to achieve the aim of this study. The study is conducted at King Saud bin Abdel-Aziz University Health Science College. A sample of 82 undergraduate student nurses is allocated from third and fourth years. A structured interview questionnaire is designed to assess the undergraduate student nurses’ cohorts’ level of knowledge regarding first aid. Results: The study reveals a statistically significant improvement of the two undergraduate nursing cohorts’ level of knowledge in post-test compared to their pre-test scores. A non-statistically significant difference is revealed between two undergraduate nursing student cohorts (3rd and 4th year) level of knowledge after exposure to awareness session. Conclusion: The study provides evidences of the efficacy of awareness campaigns to raise awareness of such a critical issue as first aid among nursing college students, recommending a separate first aid course for undergraduate nursing students once they start their major nursing courses. The study also recommends further studies for evaluating the effect of awareness campaigns as an active student learning method.

This research is motivated by the importance of knowledge of an employee, especially harvest employees in order to obtain maximum FFB, it encourages researchers to determine the level of knowledge about harvesting. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of harvest employees and determine the level of knowledge of harvest employees about harvesting techniques and harvesting tools used.Collecting data in the research in the form of questionnaires and interviews, the method used is descriptive analysis to describe the level of knowledge of harvesting employees based on the frequency distribution of respondents' answers and responses to questions in the questionnaire.Characteristics of respondents at PT Sawit Sukses Sejahtera based on age at most, namely those aged over 35 years with a percentage of 68%, from education the most, namely elementary school with a percentage of 77%, based on work experience at most 1-5 years with a percentage of 41%. The respondent's level of knowledge on harvesting techniques is in the "know" category because the knowledge level score reaches 59.5. The respondent's level of knowledge of harvesting tools is in the "know" category with an average score of 64.94.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic disease worldwide. The low levels of education and poor awareness about the disease have an impact on the health of the people living with diabetes mellitus. To assess the need of family focused intervention on knowledge among diabetic clients. Research approach utilized was quantitative research approach. Research design followed was true experimental design. Family focused intervention was the independent variable in the study. Knowledge was the dependent variable. Samples were selected using total enumeration technique. Pre test was assessed using structured interview schedule. Family focused intervention was given after pre test which includes IEC, counseling regarding diet and specific management, demonstration regarding foot care and exercise. Post test was conducted using the same tool. Comparison of the pre and post test level of knowledge showed that the overall mean knowledge score in the post test was 24.50 and 10.29 in experimental and control group respectively. Comparison between experimental and control group by unpaired ‘t’ test, t=28.03 revealed that there was a high significant difference between the experimental and control group. The results showed that there was significant improvement in the level of knowledge only in the experimental group. This revealed that family focused intervention was effective among diabetic clients. Knowledge was improved among experimental group to whom intervention was given. Hence family focused intervention can be incorporated as an integral component of the comprehensive health care services at primary level to enable the diabetic clients to manage the condition and prevent the complications.
