Slums are universal in character and no country is able to get rid of them. Large-scale migration to the cities due to employment opportunities and other community facilities, an income level which is inadequate to maintain decent standards of living are some of the major contributory factors responsible for the growth of slums especially in Chennai as per Tamilnadu slum clearance board. Life Skills have been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as psychosocial abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The youth from slums due to lack of effective utilization of their skills are still in a lower level jobs and have not climbed to great ladders. The youth pursuing their graduation or pursuing their post graduation belonging to the age group between eighteen to twenty four years of age from Zone 8 slum recognized by the slum clearance board alone are the respondents. Strength of thirty samples by using simple random sampling method was used for the research. A majority 73.3% of the respondents were in poor condition level in self awareness dimension, while 26.7% of them were in average level. It is inferred that the respondents various life skills from different dimensions namely interpersonal relationship, critical thinking, decision making, problem solving and coping with emotions do differ with regard to their gender. It is observed that there is strong and significant association between various dimensions of life skills namely Interpersonal relationship (X2-4.562,df-1), Effective communication (X2-1.425,df-1) and Critical thinking (X2-4.124,df-1). The research suggests the need for bettering the life skill education among the youth from slums at the time of their academics itself

The term stress is mentioned in daily life to the extent that we can say that stress has become an integral part of modern human life. Like the rest of the population, even athletes are not spared to the stress and its consequences. Stress is usually mentioned in negative context, and most people think that stress is negative phenomenon. The key concept for understanding what impact stress has on the emotions, behavior and performance of athletes, becomes stress overcoming, since the prevailing opinion that stress does not induce disorders, but the ways how people cope with stress. The aim of this paper is to present the basic theoretical issues related to stress and coping with stress in sport.

The evidence for positive correlations between years of education and health status is consistent. The patterns of causalities underlying these correlations are likely to be complex, but here the focus is upon one direction of causality; namely how education makes us healthy. If education has the potential to improve health outcomes, then policy-makers and practitioners should understand the interrelated processes involved. As a first step towards this understanding, I suggest a typology of intermediate factors linking education to health outcomes, falling under four headings; economic factors, access to health services, health-related practices, and coping with stress. Although the development of the typology was the purpose of the research, the process of doing so led to the identification of a number of policy-relevant issues or themes that apply to all groups of intermediate factors: (1) immediate psychosocial outcomes of learning play a fundamental role in generating the behaviours, skills and personal attributes that have lasting effects upon health; (2) health benefits of education that apply to individuals do not always apply to communities; (3) health benefits of education depend upon the nature of the learning experienced; and (4) they also depend upon the social and economic structures in which the learner is situated.

Life skills refer to adaptive and positive behaviors that help people effectively cope with the needs and challenges of daily life. Thus, this study aimed at the analysis of the application of life skills in the Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH) based on the life skills recommended by WHO such as problem-solving, decision making, creative thinking, critical thinking, self-awareness, empathy, interpersonal relationship, effective communication, coping with stress, coping with emotions. The deductive content analysis of topic-related data in Hadith which refers to the verbal, action, and recognition of the Prophet (PBUH), classic Islamic and modern literature, is conducted through the descriptive narrative method. The finding reveals the acknowledgment and the application of life skills on several occasions in Sunnah, as well as the adherence to such skills will assist walking through the guidance of Sunnah. As a result, it strongly suggests that the icon would serve as a guide for every individual in the modern world in terms of the effective application of life skills at various levels and circumstances that can assist in leading a successful life. This study will be referred for future studies regarding the application and the impact of life skills.

COVID 19 has raised the profile of biosecurity. However, biosecurity is not only about protecting human life. This issue brings together mini-reviews examining recent developments and thinking around some of the tools, behaviours and concepts around biosecurity. They illustrate the multi-disciplinary nature of the subject, demonstrating the interface between research and policy. Biosecurity practices aim to prevent the spread of harmful organisms; recognising that 2020 is the International Year of Plant Health, several focus on plant biosecurity although invasive species and animal health concerns are also captured. The reviews show progress in developing early warning systems and that plant protection organisations are increasingly using tools that compare multiple pest threats to prioritise responses. The bespoke modelling of threats can inform risk management responses and synergies between meteorology and biosecurity provide opportunities for increased collaboration. There is scope to develop more generic models, increasing their accessibility to policy makers. Recent research can improve pest surveillance programs accounting for real-world constraints. Social science examining individual farmer behaviours has informed biosecurity policy; taking a broader socio-cultural approach to better understand farming networks has the potential to change behaviours in a new way. When encouraging public recreationists to adopt positive biosecurity behaviours communications must align with their values. Bringing together the human, animal, plant and environmental health sectors to address biosecurity risks in a common and systematic manner within the One Biosecurity concept can be achieved through multi-disciplinary working involving the life, physical and social sciences with the support of legislative bodies and the public.

Summary: The Indian subcontinent comprises eight countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan, and the Maldives) and a collective population of more than 1.3 billion people. 10% of the world's suicides (more than 100,000 people) take place in just three of these countries, viz. India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. There is very little information on suicides from the other four countries. Some differences from suicides in Western countries include the high use of organophosphate insecticides, larger numbers of married women, fewer elderly subjects, and interpersonal relationship problems and life events as important causative factors. There is need for more and better information regarding suicide in the countries of the Indian subcontinent. In particular, studies must address culture-specific risk factors associated with suicide in these countries. The prevention of this important public health problem in an area of the world with myriad socio-economic problems, meager resources, and stigmatization of mental illness poses a formidable challenge to mental health professionals, policy makers, and governments of these countries.
