<p>El lulo (<em>Solanum quitoense </em>Lam.) es un frutal andino importante en Colombia, con oferta deficitaria e importación desde Ecuador, para suplir la demanda nacional. La siembra se desarrolla casi exclusivamente con materiales locales, con existencia de un solo cultivar mejorado en el país. El cultivo se realiza con base en el conocimiento tradicional y recomendaciones técnicas; su sustento investigativo es escaso y en la mayoría de los casos apoya aspectos y problemas puntuales. Se estudió el estado actual de las investigaciones relacionadas con el conocimiento sobre esta especie, para su análisis y el diseño de procesos que apoyen el desarrollo de sistemas de producción sostenibles y eficientes de la misma, desde la óptica ambiental y productiva, como también actividades de valor agregado y poscosecha. En la revisión actual se presenta la información relacionada con los componentes de la función productiva: genotipo, ambiente e interacción genotipo X ambiente.  </p><p> </p><p><strong>State of knowledge review on the productive function of lulo (</strong><strong><em>Solanum quitoense </em></strong><strong>Lam.) in Colombia</strong>  </p><p>Lulo (<em>Solanum quitoense </em>Lam.) is an important Andean fruit in Colombia, with a national supply deficit, which requires fruit importation from Ecuador to accomplish the consumption demand. Lulo cropping is done almost exclusively with farmer varieties, with just one improved cultivar released in the country. Cultivation is based on local knowledge, as well as technical recommendations without a research support in most of the cases, developed for specific areas and problems, which do not consider the production components as a whole. A search related to the state of the art of the lulo knowledge, was done to identify research key points, for the development of sustainable and efficient production systems, as well as for the support and development of post harvest management and processing procedures. In the current review, a relation of the knowledge related to the production components: genotype, environment and the interaction genotype X environment is included. </p>

Abstract Systemic approach to design of factories requires that engineering, organisational and economic aspects should be considered concurrently. That prompts the need to develop a solution, based on the state-of-the-art IT technologies, to enable us to solve the problems associated with foundry production planning. The paper outlines a methodology of creating the simulation model of a virtual foundry, as a tool for foundry design. An integrative approach is suggested for development of a complete foundry model, enabling the design of more efficient production systems. The underlying principles of such models are discussed, the basic stages involved in the methodology are outlined and the range of its applicability is defined.

The current review is intended to highlight recent advances in the search of new and effective modulators of the metalloenzymes Carbonic Anhydrases (CAs, EC 4.2.1.1) expressed in humans (h). CAs reversibly catalyze the CO2 hydration reaction, which is of crucial importance in the regulation of a plethora of fundamental processes at cellular level as well as in complex organisms. The first section of this review will be dedicated to compounds acting as activators of the hCAs (CAAs) and their promising effects on central nervous system affecting pathologies mainly characterized from memory and learning impairments. The second part will focus on the emerging chemical classes acting as hCA inhibitors (CAIs) and their potential use for the treatment of diseases.

In the pipeline construction, the girth welds tend to be the weakness because of defects and microstructural heterogeneities. The importance of suitable assessment of various defects in the weld is not only to prevent the cracks from unstable growth to cause catastrophic accident but also can effectively reduce the weld repair to reduce construction cost. Although many welding defects assessment methods and codes have been applied in this field, there are many differences among them. In this paper, the application of weld defect assessment methods was extensively studied. The key points of ECA applications, such as the pipeline axial stress and toughness, have been introduced. Furthermore, some suggestions were given on the application of girth weld ECA assessment.

This paper discusses the use of floating production systems (FPS) in developing offshore fields and includes consideration of related system and subsystem options. The system options are discussed from their relative technical and economic merits. Proven conventional and state-of-the-art technology as well as technical limitations are included. A decision tree matrix has been developed for use in the early planning stages to assist in determining preferred baseline options for selecting an approach. Systems from the mud-line upwards to the floating hull, and on-board systems, are included.

Lean Management builds the basis for efficient production systems for many industrial companies. However, lots of potentials of Lean Management have been lifted and information and communication technologies in the context of digitalization and cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) offer new possibilities to enhance the performance of companies. Even though surveys indicate that companies recognize these potentials, especially small and medium-sized companies still face challenges in selection and implementation of suitable solutions. Thus, the research project GaProSys 4.0 aims at supporting companies with a systematic approach to combine existing structures of Lean Management with potentials of digitalization in development of a new set of methods to enhance production systems. This paper presents the approach of the research project to develop a structured set of methods and provides an example to illustrate the potentials.

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) are involved in many cardiovascular disorders, including pulmonary hypertension (PH). The current review focuses on the role of the ANS and RAAS activation in PH and updated evidence of potential therapies targeting both systems in this condition, particularly in Groups 1 and 2. State of the art knowledge in preclinical and clinical use of pharmacologic drugs (beta-blockers, beta-three adrenoceptor agonists, or renin-angiotensin-aldosterone signaling drugs) and invasive procedures, such as pulmonary artery denervation, is provided.

With the recent discoveries of the pre-salt reservoir, new areas of the Brazilian coast rose to prominence, especially for the Santos Basin. This area is adjacent to the Campos Basin, which now accounts for around 80% of Brazilian production. In this new area, in addition to the difficulties of drilling in salt rock, the deployment of subsea production systems have also to overcome new challenges, since environmental conditions are more severe than those in the Campos Basin. Other important issues are: the water depth of about 2200 meters; the high pressure for gas injection riser; and the high CO2 content, requiring special attention to the materials that will be in contact with the production fluid. At this new production frontier, priority was given to the use of floating units with storage capacity like VLCC hulls, in order to export oil production through shuttle tankers, as no pipeline grid is available. Depending on the motions level of these VLCC vessels, the selection of a viable configuration of riser becomes crucial. Thus, some alternatives have been studied and the Steel Lazy Wave Riser (SLWR) configuration was one of the options considered to be used for production and gas injection riser functions, besides being possibly used for risers with large diameters. As this area of the Santos Basin presents more severe conditions, the free-hanging configuration (SCR) was not feasible, even with the use of VLCCs with optimized motions. In this case, the SLWR configuration was better suited to overcome the problems faced by free-hanging configuration. This paper aims to present a set of variables and its right combination involved in SLWR configuration to make it feasible, considering some key points in the design of SLWRs, for example: motions level of the floating unit, thermal insulation required for the flow assurance of production risers; difficulties faced during the installation process and the need of using clad pipes or lined pipes due to the high level of corrosion imposed by CO2 fluid content.
