BACKGROUND Covid 19 (coronavirus) is a global concern since it is spreading fast as a droplet infection leading to fever, cough, and acute respiratory disease OBJECTIVE This paper aimed to provide an ample literature review of Covid 19 and its implications on dental practice. METHODS A systematic literature review was made through Pubmed, Medline database and Google scholar search engine using key words; coronavirus, covid-19, oral health, dental aerosol, dental implicational, management. RESULTS A total of 210 articles were reviewed and in this only 59 relevant article pertaining to covid-19 and dentistry were used for this study. CONCLUSIONS The current outburst of the coronavirus strain 2019 (COVID-19) represents a public health emergency of global distress. Dentistry is the field of medicine which has suffered a lot. The present article highlighted various challenges and effect of coronavirus on oral health and its implication. CLINICALTRIAL not applicable

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is a public health emergency of global concern. Based on the data published by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), the majority of patients were asymptomatic or having mild symptoms but can release an enormous amount of viral load. It posed a worldwide challenge for containment of the infection of COVID-19. As, oral health care providers work in close proximity to the patients’ mouth, they are at higher risk for infection. The aim of this article is to emphasize on special measures to be taken for prevention and potential interventions.

For the writing of this manuscript, we searched information published from 2000 to 2021, through PubMed, Web of Science, Springer, and Science Direct. Focusing on the effects related to respiratory diseases, in addition to possible direct effects towards SARS-CoV-2, coupled with diabetes. Diabetes is a metabolic disease that is characterized by affecting the function of glucose, in addition to insulin insufficiency. This leads to patients with such pathologies as being at greater risk for developing multiple complications and increase exposure to viruses infections. This is the case of severe acute respiratory disease coronavirus 19 (SARS-CoV-2), which gave rise to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), declared an international public health emergency in March of 2020 Currently, several strategies have been applied in order to prevent the majority of the consequences of COVID-19, especially in patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes. Among the possible treatment options, we found that the use of phytochemical compounds has exhibited beneficial effects for the prevention and inhibition of infection by SARS-CoV-2, as well as for the improvement of the manifestations of diabetes.

Background: The infection (COVID-19) inflicted via newly discovered strain of the virus was first spotted in Wuhan in December 2019 and established as a worldwide public health emergency on 30th January, 2020 demanding support from all healthcare sectors, on urgent basis. Objective: The objective of this review is to highlight and appreciate roles of community pharmacists during COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: For literature review various databases were used such as Google Scholar, Springer Link, PubMed, MEDLINE and Science Direct. Results: The proposed provisions such as social distancing and lockdowns to quite an extent aided in restricting the dispersion of the virus. In addition, wearing face mask, washing hands, using sanitizer with periodic disinfection of surrounding was recommended. These measures were registered to provide protection to all and positively influence the life of special population i.e., those suffering from chronic diseases, as they don't approach the healthcare facilities on a regular basis for their everyday care and supervision, in terms of medication. However, the easiest approach to gain access to sophisticated health facilities in such conditions remained and is through retail pharmacy outlets. Conclusion: The existing healthcare system with surging stress and fear can be profoundly reduced by participation of community pharmacists and their thorough involvement in managing chronic illnesses and strengthening medication adherence.

This review highlights the Zika virus which is considered a global concern due to its rapid pandemic potential and effect on humans, and according to its pandemic status, the World Health Organization declared on February 2016 it as a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern.” Therefore, we define the epidemiology of Zika virus in addition to its pathogenesis, diagnostic techniques, and treatment.

Covid –19 or Novel Coronavirus is a disease originally distinguished in China at the end of 2019, has caused an enormous worldwide flare-up and a significant general medical problem. Henceforth, WHO has pronounced Coronavirus as the sixth public health emergency of global concern. To forestall the spread of this infection all nations had powerfully placed lockdown. Since no vaccine has been affirmed till now the triads of early evaluating, isolating, and treating the patients were trailed by different medical services places. It is more predominant among the old-aged related to comorbidities and in immunosuppressed. Since this condition is related to numerous complications on many systems, clinical features ranging from asymptomatic to SARS, pneumonia to death of an individual, it has become a need to study this illness fundamentally. Coronavirus is a new disease entity for the Ayurveda which comes under Janapadodhwanasa (worldwide epidemic), Upasargika vyadhi (communicable diseases), and Anukta vyadhi. The term Anukta is used in the sense of unuttered, unsaid, and unheard. The Concept of Anukta is one such time-tested principle that is useful to understand the new disease, drug, and formulations. Covid19 isn't mentioned in traditional writings of Ayurveda yet with the guideline of Anukta vyadhi the pathogenesis, the management, and prevention of the illness can be perceived.

ObjectivesChild dental caries is a global public health challenge with high prevalence and wide inequalities. A complex public health programme (Childsmile) was established. We aimed to evaluate the reach of the programme and its impact on child oral health.SettingEducation, health and community settings, Scotland-wide.InterventionsChildsmile (national oral health improvement programme) interventions: nursery-based fluoride varnish applications (FVAs) and supervised daily toothbrushing, community-based Dental Health Support Worker (DHSW) contacts and primary care dental practice visits—delivered to the population via a proportionate universal approach.Participants50 379 children (mean age=5.5 years, SD=0.3) attending local authority schools (2014/2015).DesignPopulation-based individual child-level data on four Childsmile interventions linked to dental inspection survey data to form a longitudinal cohort. Logistic regression assessed intervention reach and the independent impact of each intervention on caries experience, adjusting for age, sex and area-based Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD).Outcome measuresReach of the programme is defined as the percentage of children receiving each intervention at least once by SIMD fifth. Obvious dental caries experience (presence/absence) is defined as the presence of decay (into dentine), missing (extracted) due to decay or filled deciduous teeth.Results15 032 (29.8%) children had caries experience. The universal interventions had high population reach: nursery toothbrushing (89.1%), dental practice visits (70.5%). The targeted interventions strongly favoured children from the most deprived areas: DHSW contacts (SIMD 1: 29.5% vs SIMD 5: 7.7%), nursery FVAs (SIMD 1: 75.2% vs SIMD 5: 23.2%). Odds of caries experience were markedly lower among children participating in nursery toothbrushing (>3 years, adjusted OR (aOR)=0.60; 95% CI 0.55 to 0.66) and attending dental practice (≥6 visits, aOR=0.55; 95% CI 0.50 to 0.61). The findings were less clear for DHSW contacts. Nursery FVAs were not independently associated with caries experience.ConclusionsThe universal interventions, nursery toothbrushing and regular dental practice visits were independently and most strongly associated with reduced odds of caries experience in the cohort, with nursery toothbrushing having the greatest impact among children in areas of high deprivation.
