Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is palm oil obtained from the extraction or compression process of oil palm fruit flesh and has not been purified. Palm oil is usually used for food, cosmetic industry, chemical industry, and animal feed industry. Increasingly open insight and increasing consumer awareness of the importance of food safety and quality assurance supported by technological developments and laboratory analysis methods, new types of contaminants in food products are also found. Currently, the Indonesian government is facing challenges regarding the issue of 3-monochloro-1,2-propanediol ester (3-MCPD Ester) and glycidyl ester (GE) in palm oil which can hamper Indonesia's palm oil trade in the future. The practice in the field affects the quality of CPO and the retrieval of low-quality CPO is mixed with high-quality CPO. And the length of time the process of pumping CPO from reclaimed tanks to VCT affects the quality of CPO. So this study aims to modify the pumping time and storage time of CPO from Reclaimed tanks to VCT by mixing samples from VCT (fresh CPO) and samples from Reclaimed tanks (lower quality CPO).

ABSTRACTIndonesia is the world's largest producer of crude palm oil (CPO). Even so, the trend of international trade in Indonesian CPO products has decreased in the last 10 years with a value of -10.19%. The decline in world demand for CPO can be dealt with by utilizing CPO as a biofuel for domestic use, like biodiesel. The purpose of this study is to determine the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO in global trade and determine the parameters of the quality requirements of CPO and biodiesel. The competitiveness analysis method uses the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) method, while the analysis of the potential quality of CPO as a biofuel is carried out by analyzing the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). CPO trade in the global market is controlled by Indonesia with a market share of 50% and Malaysia 25.6%, with the declining trade trend in the last 10 years relatively (2010-2019) of -6.91%. The level of competitiveness of Indonesian CPO products in 2019 is very strong, but on average in the last 10 years, the level of competitiveness of Indonesian CPO is no better than that of Malaysia. Indonesia has SNI 01-2901-2006 and SNI 7182: 2015 as a determinant of the quality of CPO and biodiesel products developed in Indonesia so that the CPO and biodiesel produced fullfil sacurity and safety aspects when used by consumers. Keywords: crude palm oil (CPO), competitivenessv, quality, Indonesian National Standard (SNI) ABSTRAKIndonesia merupakan negara produsen minyak kelapa sawit mentah/ Crude Palm Oil (CPO) terbesar di dunia.

The Indonesian government has a vision to become the world's best sustainable palm oil producer with the aim of producing 40 million tons of palm oil in 2020 for food and for energy. The country must produce must double in the next 10 years. This condition raises black campaign from various parts of the world. Palm oil is a destroyer of the earth, but on the other hand the potential for food security in the world plays a very big role, especially for edible oil and energy.. This study aimed to determined the oil extraction rate in crude palm oil and minor components (tocol content and beta-carotene) at altitudes of 650 meters above sea level and 850 meters above sea level. This study used a completely non-factorial randomized design with parameters of unriped, riped and over riped. The results showed that the maturity level of oil palm fruit affected the oil extraction rate, beta-carotene, tocol content (tocopherol and tocotrienol) of crude palm oil produced at altitude of 650 meters above sea level and 850 meters above sea level. Riped fruit has high oil extraction rate, and the minor component were measured by tocol content and beta-carotene contained in crude palm oil.

Quality is the overall characteristics and characteristics of a product or service whose ability to satisfy needs, both expressed and implied (Irwan & Haryono, 2015). In this era of increasingly competitive industrialization, every business person who wants to win the competition in the industrial world will pay full attention to quality. QCC is a new concept to improve the quality and productivity of industrial/service work. It is evident that one of the success factors of industrialization in Japan is the effective implementation of QCC. In this research journal, the quality of crude palm oil (CPO) levels is decreasing. There are 3 types of defects, namely levels of FFA (Free Fatty Acids), levels of Moisture (Water) and levels of Dirt (Stool). Of these three, the most dominant are FFA levels and Moisture levels. Free fatty acid content (FFA) of 158 samples tested contained 150 samples of free fatty acids (FFA) which were outside the company standard. Then followed by moisture content with a total defect of 45 samples from 158 test samples. At the level of dirt (Dirt) there are absolutely no samples that are outside the company's standards.

Mesocarp or fruit flesh is the main component of the cultivation of oil palm which is extracted to Crude Palm Oil (CPO). The amount of CPO produced from processing in palm oil mills is influenced by the quality of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). Some factors that influence the quality of FFB are the type of crossing, plant age, maintenance level and fraction of fruit maturity. Adequacy of nutrients N, P, K, and Mg play a role in fruit formation and are expected to increase levels of CPO. In connection with this matter, research on the relationship / nutrient correlation with CPO content is needed. This research was conducted in October 2017 - March 2018 in the field with land suitability classes S1 (Maradja Hill), S2 (Limau Mungkur), S3 (Bah Birung Ulu) and STIPAP LPP Medan Practice Gardens. Processing data with single and multiple linear regression. Leaf samples were analyzed with the Sochlet apparatus in STIPAP Processing Laboratory. In general, the average nutrient content of leaves N, P, K were the normal category and nutrient Mg, Cl were deficiency category. The level of CPO (oil / mesocarp) varies from 31.14% - 59.59%. With single nutrient regression N, P, K, Cl has a positive correlation with CPO levels while Mg is negatively correlated. Multiple regression analysis of nutrient N, P, K, Mg and Cl has significant effect on O / N with a correlation coefficient of 0.744.

Crude palm oil (CPO) is an essential ingredient of Cameroonian recipes. However, its quality is subject to doubt, considering the very often inadequate conditions of extraction, conditioning, storage, and selling in the fast growing small holder sector or in the market. This work aimed to evaluate the influence of seasons and containers on the microbiologic, physicochemical quality and the carotenoids content of CPO sold in Douala. A total of 194 samples of CPO were randomly collected in seven markets among which: 95 during the rainy season and 99 during dry season; 93 from CPO contained in opened containers and 101 in closed containers. In these samples, aerobic count colony (ACC) load, total yeasts and moulds load, peroxide value (PV), free fatty acids content (FFA), impurity level and carotenoids content were assayed. The samples tested had ACC load of 4.48±1.86x105 CFU/ml, total yeasts and moulds load of 0.30±0.14x105 CFU/ml, PV of 1.81±0.74 meqO2/kg, FFA of 4.30±1.82%, impurity level of 0.34±0.16% and carotenoids content of 756.41±110.67 mg/l. Also, none of these parameters had varied according to the market. Moreover, among these parameters, PV and carotenoids content were not varied whatever CPO is sold during rainy or dry season, in open or closed containers while others parameters analysed were significantly (P<0.05) higher during dry season or when the CPO was contained in open containers. Consequently, traders should make efforts to avoid CPO contamination during the selling. They could package it first and store it in an adequate space particularly during dry season.

Investigation was carried out on the effect of processing conditions such as temperature, pressure and porosity on permeability of palm fruit cake. It was observed that increasing the temperature of the crude palm oil from 30 to 75°C, pressure from 2.88 to 3.82 kPa and porosity from 9.2 to 27.3% increases the permeability of the palm fruit cake. The statistical analysis of the effects of the processing factors on permeability indicates that temperature and porosity are significant at 99.99% while pressure was significant at 95%. A permeability model applicable to the practical palm oil expression was also developed in the study.
