The outbreak of Corona Virus disease (COVID-19) in China in December 2019 has rapidly morphed into an unprecedented health, economic and educational crisis globally. This study focuses on tertiary students’ perspectives on Emergency Remote Learning (ERT) amidst COVID-19 Pandemic. The schools in Fiji closed its doors to face-to-face classes on 20th March, 2020 and tertiary institutes followed suit. This study was conducted to establish how tertiary students were coping with online learning at a university in Fiji. Subsequently, telephone interviews were held as it was most appropriate method at this time of lock down and social distancing amidst COVID 19 Pandemic. A meta-synthesis methodology was also adopted for this study and pertinent literature was visited to capture the essence of continued learning during these unprecedented times. Findings reveal that students were slowly adapting to online learning or E-Learning. Findings also reveal that lack of gadgets like laptops and desktops were major issues faced by the students. This is followed by lack of access to high quality internet and connectivity problems followed by lack of confidence in using online learning platforms. This exploratory paper proposes that students need to be well versed with technology and technological gadgets to enhance learning especially during these exceptional times.

The sophisticated information and technology (IT) development can be the answer for various problems post the covid-19 pandemic, particularly the teaching and learning challenges. The role of IT that is booming nowadays is online learning. Online learning is obviously different from regular learning. In this mode of learning, the students are required to have the ability to receive and process information. It serves as media that connect teachers and students who are being remote from one another at any time and anyplace. There are various media utilized to perform online learning such as WhatsApp, Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom, and other e-learning platforms. Among all these media, though, WhatsApp apparently appointed as the simplest and easiest media to access in all levels of education. Online learning at current is the effective medium to carry on the teaching and learning process in all levels of education. For the effectiveness of online teaching and learning process during the covid-19 pandemic, there have been a number of learning models suggested by the expert such as remote learning, face to face learning, e-learning, project-based learning, and Blended Learning.

Schools, colleges and universities in India is based on traditional learning that is face to face learning through offline classes. Many institute have started mix learning (offline and online) while some institute still lack this facilities. The sudden boom of the coronavirus also called Covid-19 change the educational system. The WHO declared this as a pandemic. This lead to the changes in educational system from the traditional to the online. Everything got changed in an-overnight. Covid-19 affected the person as well as the global economy of a country. It has shaken the learning of the students as it affected the education system. It forced many schools, colleges, institution, etc. to temporarily shut down. Many teachers were discontinuous in taking the classes in online learning. Now, this research paper is based on different e-learning applications that were used in Covid-19 pandemic. How many students were able to improve their skills while using e-learning platforms.

This paper focuses on the development of videogame-like applications in a 3D virtual environment as a complement to the face-to-face teaching and learning. With the changing role of teaching and learning and the increasing use of blended learning, instructors are increasingly expected to explore new ways to attend to the needs of their students. In recent years many educational institutions have started integrating into their teaching protocol the use of e-Learning platforms such as Moodle, WebCT, Blackboard or Virtual Worlds (VWs) such as Second Life (SL). The aim is not only to provide students with motivating and meaningful content and media, but also to provide them with attractive learning tools, able to enhance and guarantee a successful autonomous learning process. Nevertheless, based on our own teaching experience over the past years, we would argue that neither traditional e-Learning platforms such as Moodle, WebCT or Blackboard, nor VWs, completely meet the expectations and needs of (our) students with regard to autonomous learning. This is why the purpose of our analysis is to explore further possibilities by designing highly interactive and motivating online learning materials, including the use of videogame-like applications and a specific 3D virtual platform (OpenSim). We thus intend to provide students from the very first stage of their foreign language acquisition process with highly interactive learning environments, not only in the face-to-face learning, but also in autonomous online learning. The latter is considered to be complementary to, rather than different from the dynamics involved in face-to-face learning. Furthermore the paper includes an empirical evaluation of five language learning sessions during which several sets of students played the videogame-like application we had designed for the purposes of our research.

Abstract: Various efforts have been made by the Government in collaboration with universities to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the campus environment. Rector of Walisongo Islamic State University Semarang has also responded to the government's instruction, one of which is by implementing online learning. This research is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to obtain an overview of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Faculty of Da'wa and Communication. Data is collected through the Google Form. Data analysis was performed using interactive analysis techniques Miles & Huberman. The results showed that online learning made students feel more comfortable to ask questions and express their opinions compared to face-to-face lectures. The effectiveness of online learning was related to the availability of internet services and low-cost e-learning platforms. This is evidenced by the Whatsapp Group (WAG) platform that ranks first, followed by Line, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, then platforms other than this, and Webex ranks last. Abstrak: Berbagai usaha dilakukan Pemerintah bekerjasama dengan perguruan tinggi demi mengurangi penyebaran Covid-19 di lingkungan kampus. Rektor UIN Walisongo Semarang menanggapi himbauan Pemerintah, salah satunya dengan melaksanakan pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran pembelajaran online masa pandemi Covid-19 di Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi,.Data dikumpulkan melalui aplikasi Google Form. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran online membuat mahasiswa merasa lebih nyaman untuk bertanya dan mengemukakan pendapatnya dibanding perkuliahan tatap muka, Efektivitas pembelajaran online berkaitan dengan ketersediaan layanan internet dan platform e-learning berbiaya rendah. Hal ini terbukti dengan platform Whatsapp Group (WAG) menempati urutan pertama diikuti Line, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, kemudian  platform selain ini, dan Webex menempati urutan terakhir.

Introduction: The Coronavirus-19 pandemic has had profound effects on health professions education (HPE) posing serious challenges to the continued provision and implementation of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education (CME). Across these HPE domains, the major disruptions included the exclusion of undergraduate learners from clinical learning environments, restricted intra-, inter-institutional and overseas movement of medical professionals, termination of face-to-face learner-educator interactions, deployment of postgraduate learners into non-scope service settings, and CME postponement. Methods: In this review we report on how in Singapore various adaptive measures were instituted across the 3 HPE domains at institutional and national level to maintain adequate resources at the frontline to meet service exigencies, promote healthcare professionals’ wellbeing and safety as well as mitigate the spread of the pandemic. Results: We identified several strategies and contingencies developed to address these challenges. These involved the use of online learning platforms, distributed and asynchronous learning, an undergraduate Pathway Programme, and use of innovative hands-on technology like simulation. Robust, well pre-planned pandemic preparedness, effective communication, as well as provision of psychological support resources ensured maintenance of service and academic continuity, trust and resilience within HPE. However, several challenges remain, namely the timing and manner of conducting formative and summative assessments, cybersecurity, and the indispensable hands-on, in-person experiential learning for surgical training. Conclusion: Strong leadership with vision and planning, good communication, prioritising learners’ and educators’ wellbeing and safety, and harnessing existing and emerging online learning technologies are crucial elements for effective contingencies for HPE disruption during pandemics.

Online learning is a learning via internet without meeting face-to-face between teachers and students. This online learning system is relatively new, therefore teachers and students should adapt quickly. This study aims to determine the online Arabic learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 1 Surakarta. Researcher used a qualitative approach and observation, interview, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results described that e-learning madrasah was used as the main media for online Arabic learning at MTsN 1 Surakarta during the covid-19 pandemic, then assisted by Whatsapp and Youtube channel. The subject matter was presented in video, powerpoint, and pdf. The learning stages were divided into three: preparation, implementation (pre-activities, whilst-activities and post-activities), and evaluation stage. This online learning helps teachers to coordinate with and supervise students easily, on the other hand, it is difficult for them to monitor the students’ understanding and bad internet network make some students could not follow the learning process in time.

Online learning that is integrated into face-to-face learning called blended learning is believed to be more useful than online learning or face-to-face learning. Schoology is one of the online learning platforms exploited in blended learning that can help teachers to manage classroom information. Schoology allows students and teachers to share information and provides access to content or administrative features of specific courses. This study aims to investigate students' perceptions of blended learning via Schoology in reading class. This is a descriptive study, the participants of this study consisted of 28- second-semester students at the English Language Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah, and teacher training IAIN Jember, East Java Indonesia. The Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The findings of this study revealed that there were positive perceptions of blended learning via Schoology in the reading comprehension class as well as the positive learners’ attitude. Furthermore, the students agreed that Schoology in blended learning in the reading comprehension class is useful, helpful, and effective. Moreover, from the results of the interviews, there were positive aspects of blended learning via Schoology in reading comprehension which gave more benefits to engage and motivate students’ learning activities, students’ performances, learners’ autonomy, as well as students’ learning outcomes.

The effect on knowledge levels immediately after a course on precarity in family medicine was assessed by comparing online learning against classroom learning, both followed by time for face-to-face discussion. Of 87 family medicine interns of the same class, 65 took part in the study and were evaluated, 34 being assigned to classroom learning and 31 to online learning. The increase in knowledge after the course was significantly higher in the online learning group (+27.8 points±11.2) than in the classroom group (+9.1 points±9.0) (p<0.0001).

This paper presents the types of distance learning platforms with the use of information and communication technologies. It analyses their main functionalities and outlines the advantages and disadvantages of using cloud technologies in e-learning.
