This paper investigates the implementation of constructivist learning, as it was practiced by five EFL teachers at a vocational high school in Indonesia. We offer a ‘mentoring program’ for teachers to support each other and provide resources that are bottom-up, free, and relevant, conducted in a collegial atmosphere. We adopted a qualitative approach as it enabled us to understand and cultivate deeper the learning process that occurred in the classroom. Data were qualitatively collected and analyzed in two ways. First, it focused on the participants’ interview, observation, self-reflection and discussion on the variables in the mentoring program covering the need and expectation of EFL teachers in the formal pedagogical setting, sources of teachers’ resistance to participate in Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program, the impact of TPD program on the teacher pedagogical competence, and conditions contributing to sustainable development as a result in the TPD program. Second, it was to disclose the researchers’ viewpoints and reflections under variables, as stated in the earlier analysis. Our research findings suggested that constructivist-learning practices were proven to be successful in helping the teachers experienced promising mentoring progress of TPD. Teachers and students underwent a significant change as the learning activities became more engaging and fun. Teachers confessed to have their pedagogical knowledge and practice expanded while having their attitude and mindset shifted after going through a series of activities inside the mentoring program. The program was central in nurturing teachers’ self-identity and helping them overcome their internal blocks. In the longer-term, this program contributes to developing teacher professionalism as they started to see the potentials and positives impacts of TPD programs.

This study aims to obtain empirical data about academic supervision in improving teacher professionalism at Lhokseumawe State Vocational High School. Academic supervision must be based on data, objective facts. Academic supervision is routine work that supervisors must carry out because of a dynamic curriculum that requires improvement in both documentation and contextually in the field. The method in this research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The primary data sources of this study were obtained from direct interviews with informants consisting of school principals, teachers, and students, results from observations, and secondary sources obtained from various studies of documents, texts, and archives related to the implementation of Academic Supervision. The principal has carried out academic supervision in improving teacher professionalism, evidenced by the planning of supervision schedules, implementing, assessing the results of teacher performance using learning instruments prepared, and following up on the results of learning supervision. Supervision theory has been implemented well, one of which is directive supervision in learning and implementing initial meetings with teacher interviews carried out before implementing supervision.

Practical performance assessment is an important part of the learning process, but several obstacles are found in its implementation. The objectives of this study are (1) to develop constructivism-based performance assessment instruments for class VII Yunior High School in  Life Organization subject,  (2) to describe aspects that need to be made in constructivism-based practical performance assessment instruments, and (3) to describe teacher responses in using constructivism-based practical performance assessment instruments. This research is a development research using a 4D model, the stages are defining, design, development and distribution. The trial subjects in this study consisted of 10 students for small group trials and 40 students for large group trials. The indicators used in the study include aspects related to the development of constructivist life-based practicum assessment instruments. Instrument used was a questionnaire to reveal the response of teachers and students to practical performance assessment instruments. The results of the data analysis showed that the content feasibility value is 86.31% at the intervals of 48.33 which means it is feasible to use. Most students gave a positive response to the assessment sheet given (96.67%), a small portion gave a negative response (33.3%). Because the average positive response of students is more than 75%, the performance assessment instrument is considered feasible to be applied.

The development of computer-generated synthetic environments, also calleddistributed virtual environments, for military simulation relies heavily upon computer-generated actors (CGAs) to provide accurate behaviors at reasonable cost so that the synthetic environments are useful, affordable, complex, and realistic. Unfortunately, the pace of synthetic environment development and the level of desired CGA performance continue to rise at a much faster rate than CGA capability improvements. This insatiable demand for realism in CGAs for synthetic environments arises from the growing understanding of the significant role that modeling and simulation can play in a variety of venues. These uses include training, analysis, procurement decisions, mission rehearsal, doctrine development, force-level and task-level training, information assurance, cyberwarfare, force structure analysis, sustainability analysis, life cycle costs analysis, material management, infrastructure analysis, and many others. In these and other uses of military synthetic environments, computer-generated actors play a central role because they have the potential to increase the realism of the environment while also reducing the cost of operating the environment. The progress made in addressing the technical challenges that must be overcome to realize effective and realistic CGAs for military simulation environments and the technical areas that should be the focus of future work are the subject of this series of papers, which survey the technologies and progress made in the construction and use of CGAs. In this, the first installment in the series of three papers, we introduce the topic of computer-generated actors and issues related to their performance and fidelity and other background information for this research area as related to military simulation. We also discuss CGA reasoning system techniques and architectures.

The Indonesian Adolescent Reproductive Health Survey (Survei Kesehatan Reproduksi Remaja Indonesia-SKRRI)h ighlights the lack of knowledge amongst adolescents regarding puberty. Other studies have identified the limited advice from parents, because parents and teachers frequently opt not to discuss experiences related to adolescent reproductive health. This study aims to understand the perception of teachers and students in higher grades with regards to puberty. The study used a qualitative approach, collecting data via in-depth interviews with teachers and students. There were seven informants, consisting of five teachers and two students studying in grade IV-VI from two schools in North Jakarta. The study shows teachers, as well as students, often had only a limited understanding of puberty and considered it a vulgar subject which should not be discussed.
