Sponsorship Information Reception and Processing: Explicit and Implicit Memory of In-Game Advertising

Researchers have attempted to identify the impact of sponsors' advertising on spectators at sports events, but it is necessary to understand the dynamic mechanisms of the effect of advertising on signboards at these events. Thus, our primary purpose was to investigate the effects of emotion on spectators' implicit/explicit memory of sponsors' advertising. Further, we examined how visual attention can mediate the effects of emotion on explicit/implicit memory. We asked 81 undergraduates to watch an edited soccer match while wearing an eye tracker in order to examine their visual attention. The results showed that their visual attention to sponsor signage significantly varied as a function of both their pleasure and arousal, and visual attention significantly influenced their explicit memory, but not their implicit memory. We also found a full mediating effect of visual attention between pleasure and explicit memory, and a partial mediating effect of visual attention between arousal and explicit memory. Results are discussed, along with the limitations and scope for future research.

Organizational scholars concurred that positive workplace relationships with others can helps employee to gain from these relationships but, they lack insights into how or why this occurs. Moreover, the relationship dynamics focus on what the relationships provide without considering the how these relationships initiated, builds and maintains. To line of this, the current study aims to find the impact of mentoring functions (career, psychosocial, role modeling) and employee performance (career success, organization citizenship behavior, and job performance) via mediating effect of relational self-efficacy. For this purpose, the data were gathered from 310 branch banking employees of Pakistani conventional banks. PLS-SEM was used for data analysis. The results indicate that there is direct relationship between mentoring functions and employee’s performance. Moreover, the finding also shows that employee relational self-efficacy mediates the relationship between mentoring functions and employee performance. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed along with suggestions for future research.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between POPs, OJ, OCB, BJW and LPS. Also, this study examined the mediating effect of OJ on the relationship between POPs and OCB. And this study examined the moderating effect of BJW on the relationship between POPs and OJ and the moderating effect of LPS on the relationship between OJ and OCB. Data were collected from 283 employees from a number of companies. The result of this study showed that the relationship between POPs and OJ is significantly negative and the relationship between OJ and OCB is significantly positive. Also, OJ fully mediated the relationship between POP and OCB. And BJW didn't moderated the relationship between POPs and OJ. And LPS moderated the relationship between OJ and OCB. Finally, based on the results, the implication of this study and the direction for future research were discussed.

AbstractObjective:To evaluate the impact of message framing on attitudes towards messages aimed at promoting the use of nutritional warnings, behavioural intention and actual behaviour, evaluated through visual attention to nutritional warnings and the choice of a snack product during a real choice task.Design:Following a between-subjects design, participants were exposed to loss-framed nutrition messages, gain-framed nutrition messages or non-nutrition-related messages (control group). After evaluating the messages, participants were asked to select a snack product as a compensation for their participation. The experiment was conducted using an eye tracker.Setting:Montevideo (Uruguay).Participants:Convenience sample of 201 people (18–51 years old, 58 % female).Results:The average percentage of participants who fixated their gaze on the nutritional warnings during the choice task was slightly but significantly higher for participants who attended to nutrition messages (regardless of their framing) compared with the control group. Participants who attended to loss-framed messages fixated their gaze on the warnings for the longest period of time. In addition, the healthfulness of the snack choices was higher for participants exposed to nutrition-related messages compared with the control group.Conclusions:Results from the present work suggest that nutrition messages aimed at increasing awareness of nutritional warnings may increase consumers’ visual attention and encourage more heathful choices. The framing of the messages only had a minor effect on their efficacy.

Given the growing intent to prevent decay in environmental management, the present study seeks to unearth the impact of corporate environmental strategy on employees’ voluntary environmental behavior by regulating or facilitating their perceived psychological green climate. Research problems and research questions are built on the essence of multiple theories—goal-setting theory, social identity theory, and social learning theory for grounding the research model. A total of 294 replies were collected through a self-administered survey from diverse industrial panoramas. We used structural equation modeling (SEM) analytics via AMOS-version 20.0 for measuring the hypothesized results. The study revealed that the corporate environmental strategy is displaying an insignificant direct influence on voluntary environmental behavior. However, the corporate environmental strategy indirectly influences, via the mediation effect, voluntary environmental behavior of employees through their psychological green climate perception. Directions for future research are recommended based on insights from the implications and limitations of the study.

When reading interesting content or searching for information on a website, the appearance of a pop-up advertisement in the middle of the screen is perceived as irritating by a recipient. Interrupted cognitive processes are considered unwanted by the user but desired by advertising providers. Diverting visual attention away from the main content is intended to focus the user on the appeared disruptive content. Is the attempt to reach the user by any means justified? In this study, we examined the impact of pop-up emotional content on user reactions. For this purpose, a cognitive experiment was designed where a text-reading task was interrupted by two types of affective pictures: positive and negative ones. To measure the changes in user reactions, an eye-tracker (for analysis of eye movements and changes in gaze points) and an iMotion Platform (for analysis of face muscles’ movements) were used. The results confirm the impact of the type of emotional content on users’ reactions during cognitive process interruptions and indicate that the negative impact of cognitive process interruptions on the user can be reduced. The negative content evoked lower cognitive load, narrower visual attention, and lower irritation compared to positive content. These results offer insight on how to provide more efficient Internet advertising.

It is well documented that explicit (declarative, conscious) memory declines in normal aging. Studies have shown a progressive reduction in this form of memory with age, and healthy older adults (typically aged 65+ years) usually perform worse than younger adults (typically aged 18–30 years) on laboratory tests of explicit memory such as recall and recognition. In contrast, it is less clear whether implicit (procedural, unconscious) memory declines or remains stable in normal aging. Implicit memory is evident when previous experiences affect (e.g., facilitate) performance on tasks that do not require conscious recollection of those experiences. This can manifest in rehearsed motor skills, such as playing a musical instrument, but is typically indexed in the laboratory by the greater ease with which previously studied information is processed relative to non-studied information (e.g., repetition priming). While a vast amount of research has accumulated to suggest that implicit memory remains relatively stable over the adult lifespan, and is similar in samples of young and older adults, other studies have in contrast revealed that implicit memory is subject to age-related decline. Improving methods for determining whether implicit memory declines or remains stable with age is an important goal for future research, as the issue not only has significant implications for an aging society regarding interventions likely to ameliorate the effects of age-related explicit memory decline, but can also inform our theoretical understanding of human memory systems.

This research aims to study the social role of the military, which is expected to gain importance when the security environment of the Korean Peninsula changes in the future. Expanding the research on corporate social responsibility (CSR), this study redefines the concept of military social responsibility (MSR) and identifies the impact of MSR perception on soldiers’ organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). This study aims to examine the effects of MSR on OCB and the mediating effect of reputation. Thus, the survey was conducted by visiting two army troops in the metropolitan area and three army troops in the Gangwon-do area. As a result, MSR perception by military service members had a significant positive (+) effect on OCB. In addition, reputation showed a significant partial mediating effect. Further, for individual MSRs, legal and ethical MSR and philanthropic MSR had a significant positive (+) effect on OCB, and reputation was fully mediated in that process. Finally, based on the results, the implications of the study and future research directions were discussed.

Employee silence has been regarded as a significant factor related to many organizational outcomes; thus, breaking the silence has become a need for companies, and has attracted academic interest. We investigated the relationship between a caring ethical organizational climate and three dimensions of employee silence (i.e., acquiescent, defensive, and indifferent), as well as the mediating effect of psychological safety and the moderating effect of Chinese individual traditionality in this relationship. We conducted a survey with 568 employees of 50 Chinese companies. Our findings confirm that a caring ethical climate had a significant negative impact on all three dimensions of silence. Psychological safety mediated the relationship between caring ethical climate and both acquiescent and defensive employee silence, but its effect on the relationship between caring ethical climate and indifferent silence was nonsignificant. Chinese individual traditionality significantly moderated the impact of employees' psychological safety on all three of the silence dimensions. Implications of these results for future research and how managers of companies can break employees' silence are discussed.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that affect the adoption of electronic invoices and in turn the impact of these factors on the tax compliance process efficiency of companies. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire survey was distributed to 276 users who adopted electronic invoicing. Partial least squares regression was used to analyze the collected data. Findings This study found that perceived benefits and trust in e-government had a positive influence on the adoption of electronic invoices. At the same time, the adoption of electronic invoice was found to have a positive impact on the overall efficiency of the tax compliance process. Moreover, the factors affecting adoption of electronic invoices can have a mediating effect on that adoption and tax compliance process efficiency. Research limitations/implications This study only explored these influencing factors on companies that have adopted electronic invoicing. Future research should distinguish between adopters and non-adopters. Practical implications The results of this study can guide tax authorities and other electronic invoice suppliers when promoting the adoption of electronic invoicing. Social implications This research can provide guidance to tax authorities to improve their own electronic invoice system by creating a workforce that have the skills to strengthen citizen’s trust in the electronic invoice system. Originality/value This study contributes to the electronic adoption literature by examining those factors that impact tax compliance processes efficiency.
