Controlling characters in a virtual reality (VR) environment can lead to the interiorization of their body dimensions by the recipients. The possible preservation of these distortions in their psyche will indicate a high degree of psychological impact of a VR on a person and the potential danger of developing depersonalization of the recipients and their dependence on such stimulation. The study of the stability of these distortions is necessary in the context of ensuring the safety of the impact of VR environments on the human psyche. The main focus of the study is on the perception distortions of human body dimensions, as they are sensed by people immersed in a VR environment, and their dynamics depending on the number of immersions. The impact of the virtual reality environment was simulated using the Freedom Locomotion VR application. One virtual reality immersion session took 15 minutes. To obtain psychometric indicators of the subjects perception of their own body dimensions, the technique Measurements according to M. Feldenkrais was used. All the participants (N = 45, three experimental groups) underwent a mandatory preliminary measurement using this technique (several hours before exposure) and a final measurement (one day after the last exposure). At the same time, the results of preliminary measurements were taken as indicators of the subjects habitual perception of their own body dimensions and were considered in each data processing as a comparison group. Free movement in a VR environment leads to distortions in the subjects perception of their own body dimensions. In all the experimental groups, there was a tendency to exaggerate body dimensions immediately after immersions, which indicates the qualitative similarity of these distortions. The effect of repetitive immersion in a VR environment on the perception of body dimensions is that it increases awareness in perceiving body parts that are least active at the time of immersion. Controlling an anthropomorphic character in a VR leads to an increase in the subjective significance of the recipients own body perception and an increased concentration of attention on the parameters least involved in immersion. The results of the study show that an increased level of awareness in perceiving their own bodies is characteristic of the subjects who have experience of repetitive immersions in a VR environment in the guise of an anthropomorphic character. Controlling a bodily projection in a VR headset does not cause its long-term interiorization, but has a positive effect on the formation of personal corporeality.

Purpose: The objective of this review was to analyze the physiological impact of fire suppression on the human body. Design: The literature review included studies focused on workload requirements for common firefighting tasks, effect of health status on the firefighting profession, and attempts to establish a minimum physiological workload capacity for successful performance of firefighting. Findings: The existing literature provides evidence of the high degree of physiological stress that firefighters are under during fire suppression tasks and the great degree of maximal physical capacity that firefighting often requires. Firefighters often operate close to maximal aerobic capacity while performing tasks common to the profession. This is especially true due to the added physiological stress placed on the human body while wearing personal protective equipment during firefighting. Conclusions: Future investigations are necessary to further explore markers of physiological stress during firefighting and the impact that it may have on the ability to withstand the development of disease as well as fire suppression safety. Using completion time of fire suppression tasks as a criterion of success may be an important consideration in addition to the physiological requirements of the occupation when assessing the appropriateness of an individual to be a firefighter. An important future consideration is the effect that fire suppression activities may have on reaction time in critical situations in which life-and-death decisions must be made.

The effect of noises toward human body not only disturb the hearing organs, it can also disturb other human body parts and in some cases may results in reduction of work’s efficiency. This study aims to assess the noise level in residential areas on the edge of the city of Yogyakarta highway and to find any indication of the impact on building design and barriers by homeowners to reduce noise. This research is quantitative associative. Data obtained from measurements and field observations. The results showed that the noise level in residential areas on the edge of the highway, class II street and local roads in the city of Yogyakarta did not meet the standard values of LTNI and LNP. The design of buildings and barriers as a noise reduction factors for the highway was found with a percentage of 100% on the Jalan Bung Tarjo segment, 85.7% on the Jalan Ki Penjawi segment, 20.83% on the Jalan Juminahan segment, 52.08% on the Jalan Bausasran segment, 13.37% on the Jalan Suryodiningratan segment, and 10.7% on the Jalan Mangkuyudan segment. Therefore, the people of Yogyakarta are not fully aware of the high level of road noise.

Exterior car-body parts are made of steel or aluminum sheets. Their formability and appearance after painting depends not only on the mechanical properties but also on their surface texture. The surface roughness characteristics, the roughness average Ra and the peak count Pc per centimeter depend on the texture of rolling mill’s finishing rollers, their wear and the degree of removal by the rolling mill. The research was carried out on heat-treated finishing rollers on the surface of which a controlled texture was created by changing the electro-discharge texturing (EDT) parameters. Parameters and the number of electro-discharge texturing experiments were optimized using full four-factor experiment techniques at the upper and lower levels of the parameters in the form of 24. The significance of the impact of individual EDT parameters and their interactions was identified based on the variance results. The ANOVA variance analysis results confirmed that the roughness Ra and the peak count Pc depend primarily on peak current (Ip), discharge peak voltage (Up), pulse on time (Pont) and pulse off time (Pofft). Optimization of the effect of the above parameters on the target roughness RaT,FR values and the peak count PcT,FR of finishing rollers was performed by the response surface methodology (RSM). Obtained regression models describe relationships between the input parameters of the electro-discharge texturing of finishing rollers and the output characteristics of the RaT,FR and the PcT,FR texture to a very high degree. The reliability of the electro-discharge texturing process of working rollers was assessed using the process capability index Cpk.

Attention plays an important role in the learning process, as it is a mechanism regulating the psyche and ensures the course of mental processes. Attention with its characteristics largely determines the behavior, assimilation of learning material and student achievement. In this article we present the results of a study of the impact of Internet access on the resilience, concentration and volume of attention in 11th grade students.

The article investigates the problem of interaction between a modern primary school-aged child and the field of virtual reality gaming and, in particular, the impact of virtual reality on the formation of self-image. Our study enabled us to explore the differences in the self-image in active and non-active players of roleplaying video games. The outcomes proved that there are certain changes in the self-image of active players related to their self-identification with characters of computer games according to their individual psychological features, whereas for children who engage in non-role-playing games such identification is not common. It was found that non-active children players generally have positive selfacceptance and do not suffer from feelings of anxiety and abandonment; active players, on the opposite, often demonstrate inadequate self-esteem, anxiety and a tendency to self-actualise in virtual reality gaming.

While the emotional response of healthcare providers during the COVID-19 pandemic has been extensively investigated in countries in the Far-East, little is known about the psychological impact and the associated emotional distress of healthcare providers in Italy, especially with regard to different regions. The aim of the “VIRARE” survey, which was addressed to all the healthcare providers in the Lazio region (central Italy) and, in particular, to those working in the oncology field, is to analyze their opinion on the impact and management of the pandemic, to better understand the level of their psychological distress. A global good psychological response of healthcare providers to the pandemic has emerged, independently from their different occupations in the oncology field. Healthcare providers show a high degree of resilience, identifying the major causes of distress the difficulty of the management of this situation, the obstacles in their working activity and expressing a high degree of dissatisfaction with how Italian institutions handled this situation. This survey also provides a direct comparison between COVID-19-infected (or directly in contact with COVID-19-infected patients) and uninfected healthcare providers, identifying the sub-category of infected professionals that reported signs of depression as particularly vulnerable.

We studied the impact of different visual objects such as a moving hand and a moving cube on the bioelectrical brain activity (i.e., electroencephalogram; EEG). The moving objects were presented in a virtual reality (VR) system via a head mounted display (HMD). Nine healthy volunteers were confronted with 3D visual stimulus presentations in four experimental conditions: (i) static hand, (ii) dynamic hand, (iii) static cube, and (iv) dynamic cube. The results reveal that the processing of moving visual stimuli depends on the type of object: viewing a moving hand results in a stronger desynchronization of the central beta rhythm than viewing a moving cube. This provides further evidence for some extent of motor processing related to visual presentation of objects and implies a greater involvement of motor areas in the brain with the observation of action of different body parts than with the observation of non-body part movements.

Abstract This paper shows necessity for a new dynamic evolution of a energy goup in the context of, in the energy system, the wind and photovoltaic energy have priority. The actual automatic control systems, already implemented, allow analysis of more than 5,000 measuring points in real time, but also very consistent evolutionary history. In this context it is proposed and analysis solution, based on closed loop modeling, which can lead to knowledge of this complex process. Knowing with a high degree of accuracy of this process can lead to redesigning the control algorithms in the direction of increasing the stability and efficiency.

Abstract The aim of this article is identification of the subjective reception of external stimuli during wheelchair driving by analyses of vibration signals obtained from measurements. The identification concerns the impact of vibrations generated during crossing various types of pavements on the discomfort feelings of the selected human body parts (mainly the spine). The identification used the measurements of the whole body vibrations received by the user of the wheelchair. The research focuses mainly on the analysis in the frequency ranges corresponding to the vibration resonance of the spine. It is because respondents of the conducted surveys selected the spine as one of the most sensitive parts of the body.

SummaryCase reports cited in Medline or Biological Abstracts (1966-1996) were reviewed to evaluate the impact of vitamin K1 dietary intake on the stability of anticoagulant control in patients using coumarin derivatives. Reported nutrient-drug interactions cannot always be explained by the vitamin K1 content of the food items. However, metabolic data indicate that a consistent dietary intake of vitamin K is important to attain a daily equilibrium in vitamin K status. We report a diet that provides a stable intake of vitamin K1, equivalent to the current U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance, using food composition data derived from high-performance liquid chromatography. Inconsistencies in the published literature indicate that prospective clinical studies should be undertaken to clarify the putative dietary vitamin K1-coumarin interaction. The dietary guidelines reported here may be used in such studies.
