Performance, motivation and knowledge of thestudents are the three central axes in which the Agroindustry chair hasbeen working since the year 2012 to improve the quality of its coursesand take care of the students in a better way. My hypothesis was that ifeach student situation is taken into account, and the learning processis not based only on a final grade, there would be better motivation, knowledge and performance. The Postharvest handling course (first termof 2012) at UNED was investigated through: a) an evaluation of the levelof the students’ motivation with a survey and inquiry about their specificsituation and b) an analysis of their performance and knowledge levelthrough the judgment of two evaluation instruments: Forum 1 and thefirst exam. The students do not respond in a positive way if the alternativeevaluation activities lack a percentage in the final grade, or they do notget enough feedback about their evaluations; the prefer to have morepresential tutorials. Knowledge is negatively correlated with the finalgrade obtained by the students in Forum 1, but positively related to thefirst exam. The knowledge of the students is not completely measuredwith a final grade and individual situations must be taken into accountto increase motivation, performance and knowledge. I recommend theinclusion of alternative evaluation activities in the Agroindustry chairwithout leaving behind the specific situations of each student.

The fact that thestudents focus more on a final grade than their learning process doesnot necessarily help them learn. The purpose of this investigation wasto evaluate the e-activities and tests of a Quality Control course taughtduring the third term of 2011 at the Costa Rican Distance State University(UNED), and to find a relationship between them and the students’motivation, performance and knowledge. A total of 31 students tookthe course, which was evaluated through summative evaluation, selfevaluation, a survey, corroboration of the student’s performance andstatistical analyses. Participation in the “cafeteria forum” implied bettergrades in their first and second exam (Spearman 0,78; 0,78). Those whoread the rubrics of the investigation project and the case to solve, gotbetter grades (Spearman 0,90; 0,79), but there was no correlation amongthe participations of the students in the platform and the final gradesof the course (0,26). Self evaluation and the survey showed studentslearned only 54% and 53%, respectively, of what was expected. A generaldiscomfort and bad performance was found. It is recommended to turnto alternative evaluation, organize themes and materials of the coursein a different way, pay more attention to students with greater need, encourage them to participate and to monitor student’s performancenext time this course is taught.

Teacher’s self-efficacy is a specific phenomenon that can be seen as one of the contributors to the process of learning and effective teaching. Teacher self-efficacy was investigated at two Senior High Schools (SMAN 1 and SMAN 2) in Kendari, and proved its importance in the interest-based classes at senior high schools in Kendari. Findings revealed two major methods employed in the research study: 1) interviews conducted in the form of an open interview with 5 teachers; and 2) observation was focused on teachers teaching materials, classroom management, as well as the enthusiasm of the teacher during the learning process takes place. Based on the finding, this study argues that teachers have high confidence in their ability to teach literature because they ascribe high value to their performance. However, the self-efficacy of teachers did not have an impact when applied in practice. In the classroom observation, these elements generally did not show up. This shows that the dependence of teachers on textbooks is not accompanied by an increase in the ability of teachers to ask questions to the students during the learning process, so that the high self-efficacy of teachers does not produce learning achievement is high. This goal can be achieved by giving more opportunities and experiences for teachers to improve the quality of learning.

Lighting is one of the key elements in any space and building infrastructure. Good design for an area in the building requires sufficient light that contributes to the efficiency of the activities. The correct method allows natural light to transmit, reduce heat and glare in providing a conducive learning environment. Light plays a significant influence to the quality of space and contributes focus of the students in an architecture studio. Previous research has shown that the effect of light also controlled emotions, behavior, and mood of the students. The operations of artificial lighting that have been used most of the time in an architecture studio during day and night may create lavishness and inadequacy at the same time. Therefore, this paper focuses on the identifying the quality of light for the architecture studio in UiTM (Perak), to instill a creative learning environment. Several methodologies adopted in this study such as illuminance level measurement using lux meter (LM-8100), and a questionnaire survey in gauging the lighting comfort level from students’ perspective. The study revealed that the illuminance level in the architecture studio is insufficient and not in the acceptable range stated in the Malaysian: Standards 1525:2007 and  not evenly distributed.  The study also concluded that the current studio environment is not condusive and appears monotonous.

Subject. The article reviews the way strategic threats to energy security influence the quality of people's life. Objectives. The study unfolds the theory of analyzing strategic threats to energy security by covering the matter of quality of people's life. Methods. To analyze the way strategic threats to energy security spread across cross-sectoral commodity and production chains and influences quality of people's living, I applied the factor analysis and general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis. Results. I suggest interpreting strategic threats to energy security as risks of people's quality of life due to a reduction in the volume of energy supply. I identified mechanisms reflecting how the fuel and energy complex and its development influence the quality of people's life. The article sets out the method to assess such quality-of-life risks arising from strategic threats to energy security. Conclusions and Relevance. In the current geopolitical situation, strategic threats to energy security cause long-standing adverse consequences for the quality of people's life. If strategic threats to energy security are further construed as risk of quality of people's life, this will facilitate the preparation and performance of a more effective governmental policy on energy, which will subsequently raise the economic well-being of people.

The learning process in madrasas (Islamic-based elementary schools) is seen as being able to contribute to instilling values and norms in students following Islamic teachings. The issue of organizational culture and teacher performance also becomes a determining factor in creating a quality learning process. In this research, the aim is to determine: 1) the effect of organizational culture on the quality of the learn-ing process; 2) the effect of teacher performance on the quality of the learning process; and 3) the influ-ence of organizational culture on teacher performance. Respondents in this study were all class teachers from three madrasas as a sample representing all public madrasas in the city of Bandar Lampung, Indo-nesia. The results obtained indicate that the variables of organizational culture and the quality of the learning process have an influence, with R squared of 0.67 or 67%, which is classified as moderate. This shows that madrassas have implemented predetermined work culture values, namely: a) integrity, the harmony between correct thoughts, words, and deeds; b) professionalism, working in a disciplined, competent, and timely manner with the best results; c) innovation, perfecting existing and creating new and improved techniques and ideas; d) responsibility, working thoroughly and with thought for the con-sequences; and e) being exemplary, setting a good example for others.
