This research used descriptive qualitative. The writer used tenth-grade Hotel Accomodation’s students of SMK Dwi Putra Sindangkerta as a subject research. In the process of English enrolling, the writer found out the problem on the subject in grammar, especially simple present tense. This skill is a structure that often used in daily conversation. But the students has more difficulties in enrolling simple present tense while it is very important to enroll because it can help them when they meet the foreign guest in the hotel later. We teach simple present tense easier using any method. One of them is the jigsaw method. This method often used more teacher in Indonesia because of this method easy to implement it.  Thus, the writer researches the student to teach simple present tense to implement jigsaw method in other to understand easier by them. The writer applies jigsaw in some steps; they are pre-activity, divided into groups, the group leader selection, group reviewion activity, submitted an assignment, and evaluation. Teaching simple present tense used jigsaw can make a enrolling effectively, and it is improving students motivation to enroll simple present tense. Keywords:  AKP’s Students, Simple Present Tense, Jigsaw Method

This research aims to find out the errors made by the students in constructing the negative and interrogative sentences by using the simple present tense. Those errors were classified into four types, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering based on surface strategy taxonomy from Daulay. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method to find the result. The subject of this research was the VIII-A class of SMP Negeri 40 Medan that consisted of 30 students. The instrument for gathering the data was the essay test, which included 20 affirmative sentences, which asked to form those sentences into the negative and interrogative sentences. The findings indicated that the students' errors in this study were 318 (50,4%) case of mistakes on misformation; 175 (27,8%) case of errors on addition; 100 (15,9%) case of errors on misordering; and 37 (5,9%) case of errors on omission. It can be concluded that misformation in the most frequent errors, while failure is the rarest error in this research. Keywords: error analysis, constructing negative and interrogative sentence

The aim of this research was to improve students mastery of simple present tense in descriptive text by using Kahoot! game. This research was a classroom action research that was done in three cycles. The subject for this research was the tenth-grade students in class X IIS 2. The writer observed students improvement in mastering the simple present tense by collecting data through observation checklist, field notes and multiple choices test. The students attitude towards the learning process was gathered by observation checklist and field notes. The data of students mastery in simple present tense was obtained by the students test which was assessed through scoring rubric. The result showed that students problems in simple present tense in the form of verb (to be) and verb (-s,-es) of the third person singular had been solved by using Kahoot! game as media for teaching, by providing picture in each question of Kahoot! game, by setting time limit in the game to encourage students participation, a music in the Kahoot! game created positive attitude in the classroom and the questioning improved the students attention and motivation in remembering the rules of simple present tense. Furthermore, the students interest in learning the simple present tense also improved. In conclusion, the media was able to improve the students mastery of simple present tense in descriptive text. The writer recommends the teacher to use Kahoot! game as media in teaching and learning process, especially in teaching simple present tense with the similar problems.

This study is about errors made by the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Moro’o in writing recount text composition in academic year 2019/2020. The objectives of this study is to find out  types of errors made by the tenth grade students in their writing recount text composition and to find out the most dominant errors made by the tenth grade students in writing recount text composition. The instrument of the research is test and documentation. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study is the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Moro’o, which is consist of 30 students. The result of this study showed that there are four types of errors that occur; they are error of omission, error of addition, error of misformation and error of misordering. The data was taken from the test: it was written text. The findings showed that errors made by the students were 19,80% omission, 17,82% addition, 53,46% misformation, and 8,91% misordering. The writer observed 101 total errors. From the frequency of each error types, misformation was the error which most frequently produced by the students. The writer concluded that misformation was the dominant kind of errors made by the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Moro’o in writing recount text composition.

HUMOR AND TASTE OF KHONG GUAN IN JOKO PINURBO’S POEMJoko Pinurbo is one of productive writer. The most interesting part of all works from Jokpin is the humour or jokes he inserted. What makes it interesting there are several poems that he wrote which published in Kompas newspaper on 31st Agustus 2019. There are twelve poems which consists the word Khong Guan in every title: Perjamuan Khong Guan, Hujan Khong Guan, Tidur Khong Guan, Lebaran Khong Guan, Minuman Khong Guan, Sabda Khong Guan, Agama Khong Guan, Keluarga Khong Guan, Mudik Khong Guan, Doa Khong Guan, Bingkisan Khong Guan, dan Hati Khong Guan. Those twelve poems are the subject to this research. The aim of this research is to define how humor was created.  Recent humors are mostly uneducated humor such as insult joke, bullying, and disrespectful. Joko Pinurbo gives alternative in doing humor, through poem. Humor found in the poem is dominated by tragedy humor. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research. This research found that there are five poems which can be classified as tragedy

Each religious sect has its own characteristics, whether fundamental, radical, or religious. One of them is Insan Al-Kamil Congregation, which is in Cijati, South Cikareo Village, Wado District, Sumedang Regency. This congregation is Sufism with the concept of self-purification as the subject of its teachings. So, the purpose of this study is to reveal how the origin of Insan Al-Kamil Congregation, the concept of its purification, and the procedures of achieving its purification. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a normative theological approach as the blade of analysis. In addition, the data generated is the result of observation, interviews, and document studies. From the collected data, Jamaah Insan Al-Kamil adheres to the core teachings of Islam and is the tenth regeneration of Islam Teachings, which refers to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. According to this congregation, self-perfection becomes an obligation that must be achieved by human beings in order to remember Allah when life is done. The process of self-purification is done when human beings still live in the world by knowing His God. Therefore, the peak of self-purification is called Insan Kamil.

This study aims at describing how the teachers teach reading comprehension of narrative text to the tenth grade students in Sibolangit and revealing the underlying reasons of why do they do that way. This study was conducted by using qualitative research design. The subject of this study were two english teachers who taught at tenth grade students of two SMA in Sibolangit they are : SMA Negeri  1 Sibolangit  and SMA RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru in academic year 2016/ 2017. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman data analysis technique. The  technique of collecting the data was recorded from the classroom process in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text. The findings of the study show that most of teachers’ ways are not yet focusing on teaching reading comprehension but rather focusing teaching the knowledge of genre. The underlying reason of the teachers’ ways in teaching reading comprehension did not facilitate reading comprehension. It was due to the misperception of the concept of teaching reading comprehension.  Keywords : Teaching,Reading Comprehension,Narrative Text.

This study deals with the improving students’ achievement in reading narrative text by using reciprocal teaching. The research of this study was conducted by using action research. The subject of this study was the tenth grade students SMA Negeri 6 Medan. One class was taken as the subject, namely the students from X-5. There were 49 students, consisting of 22 male and 27 female. This research was done in two cycles; there was three meetings in cycle I and three meetings in cycle II. The instruments for collecting data were reading narrative text (25 items of multiple choice tests) teacher make test as quantitative data and interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes as qualitative data. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the treatment I was 61.79, for the treatment II was 72.24 and treatment III was 81.71. The data showed that the students’ score was rising in every treatment. The conclusion is that the use of reciprocal teaching method can improve students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. It suggested to English teacher to apply reciprocal teaching method in teaching reading comprehension. Key words: reading, narrative text, reciprocal teaching.

This study aims to obtain a concrete picture of the effectiveness of the application of the principles of teacher Islamic communication in fostering the character of tenth grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Rantauprapat. The communication process in education is not only understood as a one-way knowledge transfer process, however, there must be a serious effort on the part of the educator / teacher, as a communicator, to be able to provide good role models. Qualitative research methods try to understand a phenomenon as the understanding of the respondents studied, with an emphasis on the subjective aspects of one's behavior. Qualitative research provides an opportunity for researchers to understand the way respondents describe the world around them based on the way they think. The researcher tries to enter the conceptual world of the subject under study to capture what and how things happen. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews in this study researchers used a semi-structured interview (semitructure interview), namely: interviews in the category of in-depth interviews. Data about the application of teacher Islamic communication and the communication character of tenth grade students, data analysis used in this study during the field using the Miles and Huberman Model, namely the activities in qualitative data analysis are carried out interactively and continue continuously until completion, so that the data is already saturated.

<p>This research was conducted based on the researcher’s observation that every student and teachers had facilities for using e-learning system, but they couldn’t use it effectively. The aims of this research were 1) to explain the extent to which the product development needed to teach the writing of descriptive text; 2) to explain how the media potentially developed through Moodle e-learning media to teach descriptive text writing; 3) to explain the effectiveness of Moodle e-learning media to teach descriptive text writing. The subject of this research was students at tenth grade of SMK NU Ma’arif 01 Semarang. The scientific involved 47 students. 22 students were in the control class, and 25 students were in the experimental class. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. The result of this research described as follow: 1) the extent needed of developing Moodle e-learning media is as follow: a) the students’ need analysis mentioned in the rate 96%, that students agreed toward Moodle e-learning media because it was very helpful. b) the total of validation result from expert validation 1 and 2 was 79.1% 2) The researcher developed Moodle e-learning media was done by using seven steps R and D research adapted by Borg and Gall. 3) the effectiveness of product supported by the results of students posttest that obtained 76.04. Based on those findings, this Moodle is valid to be implemented in an English learning process.</p>

A cooperative and polite language is required to achieve the goal of conversation, either to deliver an idea or express feelings. In spite of that, the rule of cooperative principle proposed by Paul Grice is different from the rule of politeness principle proposed by Geoffrey Leech. Therefore, this study aims to find out the application of both principles and the relation between the two of them in utterances. To conduct this study, an American movie titled Isn't It Romantic was chosen as the subject. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. The findings show that there are 53 data of the application of cooperative and politeness principles. Therefore, there is a correlation between the cooperative and politeness principles in the conversations of this movie. The result of this study is expected to be a guideline to create an ideal conversation in society.
