This research is emphasized on phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori and You To Omou. This research is structural analysis which is conducted to analyze phrase and sentence used Tsoumori and You To Omou that are found in the novel Harry Potta To Kenja No Ishi . This novel is written in Japanese language. It is written by Matsuako Yuuko. The problem that will be analyzed in this research is dealing with phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori and You To Omou. The aim of this research is to describe the phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori  and You To Omou sentence. This research is descriptive method. By employing descriptive method, this research was trying to present an analysis of moral value and character  in novel Negeri 5 Menara novel by Ahmad Fuadi. Most of the data taken from books and internet references. It aims at finding out the differences between the major character and the minor character and the moral value. This study is structural analysis by employing descriptive method approach. This research is expected to be able to identify the specific differences between the major character and the minor character and the moral value. Hopefully the writer is able to identify some differences of the major and minor characters and find the moral value of the novel. As the result of this research we can identify some character differences. In factual, the major character and the minor character are found in Negeri 5 Menara novel, but they have some differences themselves. And also the moral value is found. There were six major characters as the protagonist that were grouped into “Sahibul Menara”. They were Alif Fikri, Raja Lubis, Said Jufri, Dulmajid, Atang Yunus, and Baso Salahuddin. The other characters in the novel were minor characters, such as Ayah, Amak, Kiai Rais, Ustad Salman, and Tyson. The differences between the major characters and the minor characters in the novel were the major characters that took some important role in the story and the minor characters who did not take important role. The minor characters appeared only to support the major characters even though the minor characters showed up some times. The moral values which could be taken from the novel “Negeri 5 Menara” were sincerity, patience, honesty, and leadership as characterized in the novel. Finally the writer suggests to readers especially English literature students to conduct more research for understanding the analysis of protagonist character.

The purpose of this study is to obtain accurate data regarding the ability of students to convert verbs in Japanese into the -TE form. The method used in this research is descriptive method which focuses on the actual problems that exist in the present, then the data collected is first arranged and explained and then analyzed. To obtain accurate data in this study, the research technique used was a test. The population in this study were UNIMA Japanese language study program students. The sample in this study is the second semester students numbering 25 people. Analysis of the data used is to calculate the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes. The results of the study obtained an average value of learning outcomes of 38%. Based on the research data, it is concluded that there are still students who have not mastered well how to change verbs in Japanese.Keywords: nihongo doushi te-kei

Sosiolinguistik memberikan pengetahuan tentang code switching (campur kode). Analisis teks novel untuk memahami penggunaan campur kode penutur dapat dilaksanakan untuk pengembangan ilmu sosiologi bahasa. Metode deskriptif kualitatif dalam menganalisis temuan dan mengklasifikasikan pencampuran kode dari Novel Andre Herata Sang Pemimpi. Analisis data berfokus pada kalimat dan paragraf yang menunjukkan penggunaan pencampuran kode di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada satu jenis pencampuran kode yang ditemukan dalam novel Sang Pemimpi yaitu pencampuran kode luar (bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris) yang kemunculannya ada dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan penyisipan klausa. Penggunaan dan jenis-jenis pencampuran kode yang ada dalam novel Sang Pemimpi karya Andrea Hirata meyangkut pencampuran kode; pada pencampuran berbagai unit linguistik, seperti morfem, kata-kata, pengubah, frasa, klausa dan kalimat, terutama yang berasal dari dua sistem tata bahasa yang berpartisipasi dalam sebuah kalimat. Dapat disimpulkan narator menggunakan pencampuran kode dari Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, dan pencampuran kode luar dari Bahasa Inggris; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Bahasa Arab. Abstract. Sociolinguistics gave knowledge of the switching codes. Text analysis of novels for understanding the interdiction of interpreting codes can be performed for the development of language sociology. The qualitative descriptive method of analyzing the find and classifying the code mixing of the novel Andre herata Sang pemimpi. Data analysis focuses on sentences and paragraphs that indicate the use of a code mixing in them. Studies have shown that one type of mixing code found in the Sang pemimpi novel is that it includes a mixture of outside codes (Indonesian and English) that appears in the form of words, phrases, and insertion of klausa. The use and kinds of coded blending in the book of Sang pemimpi Andrea hirata passes the mixing of codes; In the mixing of various linguistic units, such as morpheme, words, modifiers, phrases, clauses and sentences, especially those that come from the two grammatical systems that participate in a sentence. It could be inferred that the narrator used a code mixing from Indonesian, Malay, and a proprietary blend of English; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Arabic.

AbstractThis paper considers the NP vs. DP debate from the perspective of dependency grammar (DG). The message is delivered that given DG assumptions about sentence structure, the traditional NP-analysis of nominal groups is preferable over the DP-analysis. The debate is also considered from the perspective of phrase structure grammar (PSG). While many of the issues discussed here do not directly support NP over DP given PSG assumptions, some do. More importantly, one has to accept the widespread presence of null determiner heads for the DP analysis to be plausible on PSG assumptions. The argument developed at length here is that the traditional NP-analysis of nominal groups is both more accurate and simpler than the DP-analysis, in part because it does not rely on the frequent occurrence of null determiners.

French is one of the Romance languages having the article system for each noun. French articles indicate the <i>genre</i> and the number of a noun, so that each noun should be accompanied by an article. The definite article is the main point in this research. The definite article in the novel <i>Syngué</i> <i>Sabour</i> by Atiq Rahimi is translated into Indonesian in the novel <i>Batu Kesabaran</i>. The translation of the novel Syngué Sabour of French into Indonesian is interesting to analyze because of differences of the determiner system both languages. The diversity of translation forms French articles in <i>Syngué Sabour</i> novel is the main source of this research data. The different forms of translation of the articles in French are ranked according to the form of the translation in Indonesian, with an equal equivalent or zero form. This research aims to identify the variety of forms and factors in the formation of various forms of translation of French articles in the novel <i>Syngué</i> <i>Sabour</i> (<i>Pierre de Patience</i>).<o:p></o:p></p>

The purpose of this study are (1) to describe the value of struggle in novel Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas by J.S. Khairen (2) describes the value benefits of internal struggle in novels Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas. The method in this research is using descriptive method analytic by reading, taking notes, and analyzing every sentence in the novel which contains elements of literary sociology. The data source of this research came from novel Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas by J.S.Khairen. The novel itself is produced from events social life of the community and the author himself. Therefore, the novel contains a variety the dynamics of life that occur in the community. This research is aimed at describes the sociological aspects of literature in the novel Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas J.S. Khairen. The form of data from this research is in the form of sentences in the novel that contain elements of the values of struggle. The results of this novel research are to describe (1) the value of the willing sacrifice (2) the value of cooperation (3) the value of patience and never give up (4) the value of unity (5) the value hard work. This paper was the result of a qualitative research used sociology of literature approach.  by descriptive method describing the social stratification in Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s. The Data  had descriptively analyzed by literature sociological theory, particularly through Social Stratification Theory. The Social Stratification points to the element of social level  which consists of ascribed status and achieved status. Thus, the result describes the social stratification that occurs in the novel Bumi Manusia as ascribed status and achieved status. Finally, there are several determinants which constructing social stratification. Those factors are: power, marriage, attitude, resistance, struggle, effort or hardwork. Artikel ini merupakan hasil penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra melalui penerapan metode deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan stratifikasi sosial yang tampak dalam novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan perspektif teori sosiologi sastra, khususnya teori stratifikasi sosial. Stratifikasi sosial menyasar pada unsur kedudukan yang terdiri atas ascribed status (status alamiah) dan achieved status (status yang diusahakan). Sebagai temuan, artikel ini mendeskripsikan stratifikasi sosial yang terjadi dalam novel Bumi Manusia yaitu berupa unsur kedudukan ascribed status (status alamiah) dan achieved status (status yang diusahakan) dan terdapat beberapa determina dalam membentuk stratifikasi sosial  yaitu kekuasaan, pernikahan, sikap, perlawanan, perjuangan, usaha, dan kerja keras.

This study aims to: (i) analyze the tree diagram structure of sentence patterns found in the data source, (ii) analyze the types of translation shifts of sentence patterns in the translation process from source language into target language. The novel entitled “Buddha” is a non-fiction book by Karen Armstrong. It tells about an examination of the life, times, and lasting influence of Siddharta Gautama with core tenets of Buddhism introduced throughout history. This research focuses on The Syntax Analysis and Its Translation Found on Sentence Patterns in the Novel entitled “Buddha”. This study aims at analyzing the tree diagram structure and the types of translation shifts found in the novel entitled “Buddha”. The analysis uses the theory of sentence patterns from Quirk and Greenbaum and the theory of translations shift proposed by Catford. The process of collecting data was started by reading the entire data source to understand the story in the novel entitled “Buddha” and observe the data of sentence patterns that can be taken from the story entitled “Buddha”. In the method of collecting data, the data source was read to find out complex sentences and simple sentence found in the story. The finding of the research is that there are seven sentence patterns that are translated by applying unit shift. The researcher uses the theories to support this research. Those are syntax, types of sentences, sentence pattern, tree diagram, and relevant previous studies. Syntax is stated as one of the branches that focus on the sentence structure.
