This study aimed to identify the possibility of determining the level of performance in the Faculty of Education at Kuwait University using the ‘Balanced Scorecard’ from the point of view of faculty members. The study used the descriptive methodology through a tool which was applied to (98) faculty members in the College of Education at Kuwait University. The results showed that the ‘vision and action strategies’ have obtained an average performance, while the rest of the dimensions were of poor performance. There were statistically significant differences due to educational degree in favor of professors, and years of experience in favor of 21 years and above. The level of performance about the vision and action strategies can be predicted in the College of Education based on the level of performance using the ‘Balanced Scorecard’. The effect of the domain ‘the internal operations’ was statistically insignificant and was less influential on the ‘vision and action strategies’; while ‘the financial management’ was the highest in impact. In conclusion, the study proposed some important recommendations and suggestions.

Abstract The aim of this study is to explore how the effects of components belonging to the concept of strategic management system influence outstanding achievement and success in the processing industry in Hungary as well as the sustainability success component within that. In order to do that, the study defines the factors having an influence. Thereafter, it explains the successful operation of companies with the help of factors emerging via path analysis using regression models. It uses the balanced scorecard as a tool for success criteria describing success. This is a non-market aspect that has an impact on the whole system, making it of crucial importance. Via the exploration of effects, it can be shown the deliberate use of those factors that generate outstanding results and success from the point of view of sustainability, and thus internal development, customer appreciation, and financial success. By taking the results of the research into consideration, it will also be revealed that success factors in the processing industry in Hungary have the most direct and the largest impact on outstanding sustainability performance.

Considering the lack of research focusing on the use of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as performance evaluation tool in Emirati higher education institutions, the main purpose of the study is to present a basis for a more general BSC model helping higher education managers in UAE environment for evaluating and managing the performance of their institutions. This paper is based on the case study as a research method. However, the relevance of this case study lies in the use of a joint approach combining SWOT analysis and BSC and generating an integrated strategic management system. The study comes up with a strategic evaluation plan considering the 4 BSC perspectives and designs the strategy map for it in the case of the Emirates College of Business. In this research, the traditional customer perspective of Kaplan and Norton is replaced by the students and stakeholders perspective. It is found that there is a limitation in the effective strategic problem that leads to the recruitment and placement issues, increased costs, student retention, lack of partnerships, a decrease in annual growth of income and poor performance management that can be managed through effective strategic planning. The study also reflects that there is a range of opportunities that can be exploited using the strengths in order to achieve the goals. The outcomes of this study case can be employed in the strategic planning of ECB and all other Emirati business institutions can be inspired.

In the present paper, we propose some models for the computation of an overall indicator which measures the performance of a set of museums from a multidimensional point of view. One of the most used methodologies that provide a multiple input–multiple output performance score is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which in recent years has also been applied to museums. Recently, the literature on museums performance has proposed a model that combines DEA with the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach, which is used in the management control of organisations and focuses on a multidimensional framework based on four different dimensions of the organisation management. In the present contribution, we propose a two-stage DEA-BSC model which adopts more plain DEA models without weight restrictions and can be better understood by museums’ managers. In addition, in order to overcome the drawback of the low discriminatory power shown by this model when applied to a few museums, we propose some alternative ways to compute the overall performance at the second stage. One indicator computes the area of a special geometric representation of the efficiency scores obtained at the first stage for the four BSC perspectives and for this reason is named diamond efficiency. Finally, the models proposed are applied to the set of municipal museums of Venice.

One of the technological flood control and rob in the big cities is the polder system that include drainage systems , retention ponds, levees that surround the area, as well as the pump and / floodgates, as the area of integrated water management system. Likewise, as the coastal city of Semarang in Indonesia has built some of the polder which has been in operation or under construction. To assess the success of the polder management, necessary for a study to determine the performance of the system in controlling the flood in Semarang. Assessment of performance of the system as a whole polder in this study used the concept of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The results of this study demonstrate the performance of the polder in Semarang is an ideal: Polder Tanah Mas (73.81 / 100), then Polder Banger (67.21 / 100), Polder Kali Semarang (58.70/100) and the Polder Tawang (58.65/100). The performance of the Polder system above can not be separated from the existence of an independent governing body and had been prepared much earlier. So the presence of the governing body needs to be prepared in the polder system development. To improve performance, the polder-existing polder in Semarang needs to be improved its performance by improving the performance indicators is still less based on this research primarily on indicators: financial, management agencies and learning and development.

The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of the Dwi Sari Lubuklinggau Mother and Child Hospital measured using the Balanced Scorecard. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The operational variable of this research is performance measurement with four perspective indicators in the balanced scorecard namely financial perspective, customer perspective, internal business process perspective, learning and growth perspective. Data sources used in this study are primary data obtained from questionnaire results for patients and hospital employees and interviews. Secondary data is in the form of hospital profiles and financial data and hospital data. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results showed that Dwi Sari Lubuklinggau's Mother and Child Hospital so far in measuring financial performance is only based on financial reports by looking at revenue growth and has not yet implemented performance measurement with a balanced scorecard. The application of the balanced scorecard to the Dwi Sari Lubuklinggau Mother and Child Hospital using four perspectives on average shows good performance, there are only a few indicators of performance measurement on the customer's perspective and the perspective of internal business processes that show poor performance.
