The broad conceptualization of obstetric violence: an integrative reviewAbstract: Obstetric violence consists of any conduct or act that leads to the misappropriation of women's bodily and reproductive processes. Abstract: Introduction: Communication dimensions permeate the practices of health professionals. Since the creation of the Brazilian Health Care System (SUS), in 1988 in Brazil, principles such as humanization of care and appreciation of relational, social and cultural aspects of communication between users and professionals and in professional teams have been emphasized. In relation to AIDS, health policies have sought to inform and change behaviors, emphasizing early diagnosis, appropriate treatment and prevention. Although the HIV epidemic has stimulated the development of technologies in health education and communication, there still predominate prescriptive actions aimed at biomedical knowledge and blaming individuals for their health problems. Objectives: This study investigated how communication regarding HIV has been addressed in SUS practices. Methodology: A thematic analysis of bibliographic search content was carried out in specialized Brazilian literature published from 2000 to 2018 in SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). Results: The 15 articles obtained display communication as a tool to promote adherence, prevention, detection and treatment of HIV, but also point to its importance in dealing with ethical and moral dilemmas. Conclusion: Although it is still restricted, the academic production of HIV communication in services indicates a trend towards addressing the needs of the users. Keywords: communication; health services; Unified Health System (SUS); HIV; Aids.

This study aimed to investigate the contributions of Phenomenology to Health Psychology based on Brazilian academic production. A search in the SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), PePSIC (Electronic Psychology Journals) and LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature) databases was performed and thirteen papers published between 2000 and 2018 were selected and analyzed. It was found that Phenomenology contributes in many ways while Edmund Husserl's epistemology, as well as an approach that presents a view of the world and human beings by means of a number of phenomenologists, and as a philosophical phenomenological method adapted to Psychology by various authors. As far as Health Psychology is concerned, research brings an understanding of the health-disease-care process both by the analysis of the experiences of users who turn to health services as well as by professional psychologists' practice within a biopsychosocial perspective. A plurality of theoretical conceptions and methodological pathways is observed both when it comes to Phenomenology and Health Psychology, thus further studies on Health Psychology stemming from the contributions of Phenomenology are promising. Aim The aim of this study was to identify and categorise the nursing practices of Portuguese nurses in the context of primary healthcare services. Methods A scoping review was undertaken using the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences literature database; Spanish Bibliographic Index of Health Sciences; Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online; Cochrane Library; Scientific Electronic Library Online; El Banco de Datos de Enfermería nursing database; and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature databases. The search strategy included articles of original research, which involved nurses or nursing practices in the context of Portugal’s primary healthcare, published in Portuguese, Spanish and/or English. The review involved the analysis of 11 studies published in Latin American, Brazilian and Portuguese journals, therefore all were available in Portuguese, published between 2007 and 2013. Results From the analysis it was possible to establish four categories of primary healthcare nurses’ work: technical procedures, health promotion, independent actions, and management and training practices. Conclusions Primary healthcare nursing in Portugal is challenged in the context of making more effective use of its own competences, investing more in actions of health promotion and disease prevention and less in technical curative procedures, thus contributing to better performance in the Portuguese National Health System.

A need exists for research that contributes to estimating the risk factors associated with the management of outdoor cats (Felis silvestris catus) and addresses the lack of such surveys in Brazil and other Latin American countries. With this in mind we aimed to: i) identify the causal factors affecting the practice of owners allowing their cats to roam freely and; ii) evaluate potential welfare risks associated with the allowance of outdoor access, based on cat owners' reports. An online questionnaire consisting of 25 questions was answered by 8,485 Brazilian cat owners and logistic regression models used to obtain odds ratios. A number of the factors significantly related to owners allowing their cats to have outdoor access were unneutered cats, the manner in which the cat was acquired, residence in rural areas, the number of cats owned, the presence of other pets in the house, younger owner age, owner declaration of not being responsible for the cat, owner perception about the role of the cat in the house, owner knowledge about cats' potential for transmitting diseases, a lack of knowledge about zoonoses, and a lack of knowledge regarding toxoplasmosis. The practice of allowing outdoor access was associated with significantly higher odds of owners reporting several welfare issues, such as frequent flea contamination, sporotrichosis, going missing, poisoning, mistreatment, and accidents. We conclude that the practice of allowing outdoor access, as reported by 37.1% of our respondents, may result in risks to feline welfare. Increasing public awareness through campaigns that highlight the risks associated with outdoor access would improve feline management practices and welfare.
