Hostile Press is a measure of fear of failure. We have evidence that people high on Hostile Press see the world as a hostile, threatening place. Following this idea, we felt that persons high on Hostile Press should show psychophysiological reactions to their feelings about the world. 200 male students were given the Hostile Press measure of fear of failure and a “Reactions to Stress Questionnaire.” The prediction was that there would be a positive correlation between the two measures. In general, the prediction was confirmed.

During 2020, the world faced the unusual situation of COVID-19 infections outbreak and at the same time people and governments faced the changes in lifestyle that was forced by the measures taken to manage the crises. Measures as social and physical distancing, in addition to self-quarantine, have been imposed by governments worldwide. Education sector was affected by the measures. Students were out of school worldwide. Education moved to the online and remote learning, posing new challenges for students and teachers. The new lifestyle caused stress for many people al around the world, students included. This research aims to investigate students’ behavior during 2020 on the level of stress, desire to study, laziness and concentration and gender differences. Through a cross-sectional online survey among 254 students of higher education institutions in Albania, was found out that stress levels of students in higher education institutions were higher among female students compared to male students. The research shows that stress has negative correlation to the desire to study and concentration and positive correlation to laziness, while the desire to study has negative correlation to laziness and positive correlation to concentration. Through linear regression analysis, this study provides insights on the factors that have influenced students’ feelings during pandemic and what can be done for improvement.

Be it industry or academia, Internet of the Things (IoT) has become buzzword today. Everyone is expecting a system of gadgets controlled by web without human intervention. The concept has opened many possibilities and a fear of failure too. All over the world the research is going on and few organizations have already started implementing the concept at a small level. But the available research is still immature and undirectional. The area is very young, the research too. Hence there is a need to develop an IoT architecture which is universally acceptable by various IoT objects as well as server.  To facilitate with the need, the paper presents a novel IOT architecture. In addition, the interaction of IoTobjects with each other has been discussed alongwith connection of a server’s infrastructure with another server’s infrastructure through API gateway.

Abstract In view of the fact that the 2019-nCoV has spread to most countries in the world, it is necessary to make scientific and well-founded predictions of the current pandemic situation caused by the virus worldwide, which are conducive to public, social and government responses that mitigate and appropriately address the pandemic. We collected data from provinces with more than 200 cases in China and from eight other countries. Our analyses showed that the disease duration has no correlation with the number of patients, with r = 0.184. The number of deaths was not correlated to the disease duration, with r = 0.242. However, a positive correlation between the days of disease duration and infection rate, with a r = 0.626. Furthermore, there is a strong positive correlation between the disease duration and total death rate, with a r = 0.707. Using death rate of first 25 days, we obtained a positive relationship with a r value of 0.597. Based on the data from first 25 days, the minimum and maximum days of COVID-19 pandemic duration of eight countries was estimated between days of 37 and 114 days.

Abstract Background: Millions of people throughout the world are using substances such as alcohol, nicotine, cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, marijuana, heroin and many others. Substance use by people in all parts of the world, particularly adolescents, has long been of scientific, political and public concern. Objective: -the main aim of this study was to prevalence of substance use & associated factors among Nekemte preparatory school students in 2019. Methodology:-. School based cross-sectional study was conducted among students at Nekemte preparatory school from March 20-30, 2018. Multistage stratified sampling method was employed to select 372 study participants. Collected data was cleaned and entered in to Epi info version 3.5.3 and transported to SPSS (statistical package for social sciences) version 20 for analysis. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression was done to indentify factors associated with substance use in the study area. Result: The overall prevalence of current substance use was (19.1%). Being male students [AOR, 95%CI; 4.64(2.18, 9.75)], ever encountered pressure from friends to use substances [AOR, 95% CI; 2.61(1.03, 6.63)], having substance user parents [AOR, 95%CI; 6.4(2.87, 14.30)] and having many substance user friends [AOR, 95%CI; 6.2(2.82, 13.75)] were significantly associated with substance use among students in the study area. Conclusion & Recommendation: The current prevalence of substance use among preparatory school students of this study area was low. The most commonly used substances were alcohol, khat and tobacco. Being male students, pear pressure, living with parents use substance & friends were found to affect substance use among Nekemte preparatory school students. Awareness creation sessions; Information, Education &Communication intervention should be intensified to further reduce Substance use among students.

Each country around the world has taken several approaches in order to stop the spreading of the virus. This study was conducted to correlate the mobility trend and the situation of COVID-19 by country, territory, and area. This research paper adopts an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach for 115 countries from February 17th to August 27th, 2020. Tajikistan (r=0,956) and Italy (r=0,931) has the highest positive correlation for retail and recreations. For grocery, the highest degree of positive correlation is Mongolia (r=0,945) and Tajikistan (r=0,933). Bostwana and Italy showed highest significant positive correlation among countries (r=0,985 and r=0,902, respectively) for transit stations and residential  (r=0,994 and r=0,984). Bostwana also has the highest significant positive correlation for the park (r=0.980). Meanwhile, for the workplace, Mauritius (r=0,863) and Dominica (r=0,785) are countries with the highest degree of positive correlation with a cumulative case of COVID-19. Society's behavior plays an important role by following the government policy in order to slow down the spread of the virus. Retail and recreations, groceries and pharmacy stores, transit stations, parks, and workplaces found to have a significant positive correlation while residential have a significant negative correlation with cumulative cases of COVID-19 in most countries.

Despite international guarantees to respect religious freedom, governments around the world often impose substantial restrictions on the abilities of some religious groups to openly practice their faith. These regulations on religious freedom are often justified to promote social stability. However, research has demonstrated a positive correlation between restrictions on religious freedom and religious violence. This violence is often thought to be a result of grievances arising from the denial of a religious group’s right to openly practice its faith. These grievances encourage violence by (a) encouraging a sense of common group identity, (b) encouraging feelings of hostility toward groups imposing those regulations, and (c) facilitating the mobilization of religious resources for political violence.

AbstractPreviously discovered regularity in vertical profiles of net balance, bn(z), on ten glaciers in Norway also exists in profiles of both winter, bw(z), and summer, bs(z), seasonal balances. All three profiles, unlike those of many glaciers elsewhere in the world, are remarkably linear. Variations of gradients, dbw/dz and dbs/dz, from year to year are small and correlate poorly with glacier-total balances bw and bs. Glacier-to-glacier correlation is weak for both gradients but is strongly positive for bw and bs. There are two direct consequences of these properties of the gradients that apply to both seasonal balances bw and bs. First, because db/dz varies so little from year to year, the difference in balance, ∆b, from year to year is nearly the same over the entire glacier, except near the top and bottom of its altitude range. Therefore, balance at a site near the middle of the altitude range of the glacier correlates very well with glacier-total balance. Second, this correlation, combined with the strong positive correlation of balance from glacier to glacier, is the reason balance at one altitude on one glacier correlates well with glacier-total balance at other nearby glaciers.

Among some 150 young men, the Crowne-Marlowe scale of need for social approval correlated positively with the amount of distortion (in a socially desirable direction) in self-reports of grades and extracurricular activities. However, this relationship held only among those for whom these events were not so recent and who could reasonably believe that their reports' accuracy would not be checked. For these same individuals, two measures of fear of failure were also positively related to the amount of distortion in reports of grades.

This study examined the relationship between the Kirton Adaption Innovation Inventory (KAI) and two measures of social desirability. The social desirability measures were chosen because the first, the Defensiveness Scale ( K scale) on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), measures the conscious presentation of oneself in socially desirable terms while the second measure, the Edwards Social Desirability Scale, examines the unconscious presentation of oneself as being socially desirable. 104 undergraduates enrolled in general psychology classes at a middle-sized midwestern university participated. A significant positive correlation between scores on the Kirton and Edwards inventories and a nonsignificant positive correlation with the K scale were obtained. The former indicates that innovators unconsciously present themselves as being more socially desirable than adaptors while adaptors and innovators consciously present themselves as being socially desirable almost equally. These findings for the Edwards Social Desirability Scale are inconsistent with the past research on the relationship between Kirton's inventory and social desirability.
