Summary Background/Aim: Dental fluorosis is a specific disturbance of tooth formation caused by excessive intake of fluoride. The discoloration of teeth is the most common reason for parents to seek treatment. The purpose of this paper is to describe the therapeutic management performed in a 9-year-old girl with fluorosis. Case report: A clinical case of a 9-year-old girl diagnosed with fluorosis is reported. The treatment of this clinical case was achieved using microabrasion, which is a minimally invasive method. This technique improves the aesthetics of the teeth without causing significant loss of dental tissue; a characteristic making microabrasion applicable to children as well. Its implementation involved the combined use of 18% hydrochloric acid and pumice on the enamel surface of upper incisors. The improved appearance of the teeth was aesthetically pleasing and, consequently, the patient gained in self-confidence. Conclusions: In the literature, several treatment choices are proposed, depending on the severity of the fluorosis. In our case, microabrasion was applied and the aesthetic outcome satisfied both the patient and the dentist.

Trauma to the aesthetic region of the mouth is very common. However the treatment of the traumatic injuries of the tooth depends upon various factors. Orthodontic extrusion of the fractured tooth is regularly practiced treatment modality. Orthodontic extrusion of such tooth is physiological, less invasive and long lasting. The extrusion of the tooth brings enough dental tissue to maintain the biological width and ferrule later into restorative/prosthetic phase. In this article we will report a case which was extruded 4mm after endodontic treatment and restored by crown.

Introduction: Rehabilitation with the use of overlay-type removable prostheses is indicated in cases of more severe occlusal dysfunction. This type of treatment meets the need for more immediate results, providing aesthetic improvement while the rehabilitation work is being done, while promoting the gradual rehabilitation of occlusal function, re-adjusting the intermaxillary relationship. In addition, the patient can anticipate the final result of the treatment beforethe definitive prosthesis is made. Objective: To show a clinical case of planning and execution of removable overlays. Case report: JCF patient had occlusal dysfunction and presented as main complaint the aesthetic and functional deficiency. He used a removable partial denture (PPR) only on the upper arch. The existing prosthesis did not present stability due to the loss of some dental elements, pillars of the PPR. Two overlays (upper and lower) were indicated because the patient had good periodontal conditions in the remaining dentalelements that were in a favorable position. Necessary exodontia, adequacy of the buccal environment with sub and supragingival scaling and the fabrication of overlays were performed. Conclusion: The use of temporary overlays can provide the necessary time for the patient to adapt to the new occlusal conformation in the period in which the restorations and definitive prostheses are expected to be performed. The use of overlays presented a satisfactoryresult for the proposed treatment, since it promoted the functional rehabilitation, restored aesthetic, even temporarily, and motivated the patient to continue the treatment. According to the patient, there were significant improvements in chewing quality and self-esteem.

ABSTRACTA multidisciplinary approach to develop the future implant site in the aesthetic zone was illustrated. A patient with perio-endo combined lesion at her upper central incisors was treated. Before extraction, forced eruption was performed and 12 months later, satisfactory amount of bone apposition was detected. At 2 weeks after atraumatic extraction, implants were placed and loaded with implant-supported restorations following osseous healing. Variables related to crown dimensions, periodontal/peri-implanter soft-tissue health and patient's aesthetic satisfaction were recorded at baseline, before extraction and after prosthetic treatment. At 12-month control, crown dimensions in the implant site were identical to the baseline and in addition to the healthy peri-implant tissues, successful aesthetics were obtained. Forced eruption is a successful non-invasive method to develop the aesthetics of the peri-implant tissues and implant-supported restorations.

SUMMARY The present clinical case report describes the clinical steps of enamel microabrasion associated with dental bleaching to restore severely-pitted fluorosed teeth. The process of removing the fluorotic superficial stains started by using macroabrasion with a water-cooled fine tapered 3195 FF diamond bur. Rubber dam isolation of the operative field was used to remove the remaining enamel stains and superficial irregularities with the Opalustre microabrasive compound (6.6% hydrochloric acid associated with silicon carbide particles) followed by polishing using fluoridated paste and subsequent 2% neutral fluoride gel topical application. After one month, dental bleaching was performed using 10% carbamide peroxide in custom-formed acetate trays for two hours/day for 42 days. The association of enamel microabrasion with dental bleaching was effective for reestablishing the dental esthetics of a patient with severe dental fluorosis.

Wired facial lifting is a minimally invasive technique that allows for a quick lifting effect. The aim of this study is to address the effectiveness of spiked Polydioxanone (PDO) threads (cog) for facial rejuvenation of the lower third of the face, through a clinical case report. The methodology was characterized by a brief bibliographic review, through an electronic search in the databases: Pubmed, Lilacs, Cochrane and bibliographic bases published in the USA and Brazil, associated with a clinical case report, making it possible to compare it with data from the literature on complications, safety and efficacy in the short and medium term. It is concluded that the aesthetic treatments seek to soften the signs of time and rescue the elasticity and firmness of the dermis. For this, it is necessary to elucidate the physiological effects, providing opportunities for safe treatment.

Prosthetic rehabilitation in maxillectomy patients aims to separate the oral and nasal cavities to provide adequate articulation, restore the contour of the midface, and provide acceptable aesthetic results. This clinical case report describes prosthetic rehabilitation via placement of dental implants in the zygomatic bone in a patient who underwent partial maxillectomy due to osteosarcoma. The success of obturator placement after maxillectomy requires retention by the surrounding dental tissue or dental implants. When zygomatic implants cannot be used, dental implants placed in the zygomatic bone and attachments fastened to these implants can easily provide the retention and stability required by the obturator.

ABSTRACT Mesiodens is the term used for describing the supernumerary tooth that occurs in the maxilla, between the central incisors, in the midline region. These may erupt in the oral cavity or keep themselves impacted. Their presence causes cleaning inadequate, impossibility or difficult of the eruption of the regular teeth and having the aesthetic compromised. This paper aims at showing that early identification of supernumerary teeth, planning and correct approach, allow the preservation of the teeth and adjacent structures. This article presents the clinical case of a seven-year-old child, male, who sought for treatment complaining that teeth 11 didn't appear in the buccal cavity. Clinical and radiographic exams were done and they demonstrated the presence of the supernumerary tooth. The plan of treatment aimed at the correct localization, extraction of this supernumerary tooth and continuous follow up of the case.

Dental fluorosis can be defined as a developmental condition that affects dental hard tissue, mainly enamel characterised with white or yellowish lesions due to excessive fluoride exposure. Fluorosis can have a major impact on the appearance, structure and shape of the tooth which posed a significant aesthetic concern to individuals having this condition. There are several treatments recommended in treating dental fluorosis depending on the severity of the disease itself ranging from tooth bleaching to prosthetic crowns in severe cases. This case report describes the use of resin infiltration technique on a patient with mild to moderate severity of dental fluorosis of the upper anterior teeth which produce an acceptable improvement of the appearance of the affected tooth. Resin infiltration technique in this case provided a conservative and inexpensive approach in treating mild to moderate dental fluorosis for the patient, improving the aesthetic without significant loss of tooth structure.

Melanic pigmentations (MP) are dark stains located on the masticatory mucosa. These pigmentations are consequence of the excess of melanin  production by  the  melanocytes  located  in  the  basal  layer  of  the epithelium, between epithelial cells and connective tissue cells. The MP of the periodontium are the results of the melanin granules transfer from the melanocytes to the keratinocytes, in a process called epidermal melanin.  This study aims to report a clinical case of dermabrasion for treatment of gingival melanin hyper pigmentation of a female patient, 21 years of age, non smoker, under orthodontic treatment and without systemic alterations. This patient attended the Clinic of Specialization in Periodontics of the Brazilian Association of Dentistry (ABO) with the aesthetic of her smile as the chief complain, due to the excess of melanin on the gingival tissues, in the anterior superior region.  The  epithelial  dermabrasion technique, with hand tools, promoted aesthetic results on the melanic depigmentation.
