Abstract Students’ scientific literacy skills need to be improved because students in the 5.0 society era must have various skills. The availability of relevant student books has limitations in presenting the material. In overcoming this problem, science teaching materials that contain the scientific literacy referred to the 21st-century situation are needed. Therefore, research was conducted on developing integrated science teaching materials with STEM-based Guided Inquiry (STEM-based GI) to improve students’ scientific literacy competence. This study aims to determine the validity of teaching materials (integrated science modules, lesson plans, and learning outcomes tests) for STEM-based GI on the topic of Environmentally Friendly Technology (EFT) products to improve students’ scientific literacy competence. The research and development procedure used was the formative evaluation model. This research procedure was divided into three stages: self-evaluation, prototyping, and evaluation of field tests. However, this research only reached the stage of expert validation (prototyping). The results showed that the average value of the three validators was 94.33% which was included in the very valid category. The coefficient of agreement between validators was (R) 87.10%, included in the high category. Therefore, the resulting teaching material was valid and improved scientific literacy in junior high school science learning.

The integrated science learning is required in the lessons according to the curriculum mandate of 2013. The reason is that all natural phenomena that occur can not be separated, but are a unity. In addition, the integration of scientific literacy in learning needs to be done to improve student learning outcomes. The fact that happened in school shows that integrated science learning has not been applied optimally and the value of scientific literacy test is still low. One solution that can be done is to apply scientifically integrated science-filled teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the students 'scientific literacy and students' cognitive learning outcomes in science learning using integrated materials of pressure materials and respiratory system. The research includes classroom action research (PTK) with two cycles. Each cycle consists of four meetings. The subjects of the study were students of class VIII.B SMPN 8 Padang totaling 28 people. The instruments used in this study are the learning test sheets, the scientific concept appraisal sheets, the scientific process assessment sheets, and the scientific context appraisal sheets. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistical analysis, percentage method and graph technique. Based on data analysis that has been done can be presented two research results. First, the application of integrated teaching materials of pressure materials and respiratory system can increase students' scientific literacy in learning. This is evident from the improvement of three aspects of scientific literacy from the first cycle to the second cycle: scientific concepts, scientific processes, and scientific contexts. Second, students' cognitive learning outcomes increase from the first cycle with an average score of 75.36 to the second cycle with an average grade of 88.57. This suggests the use of integrated science materials of pressure and respiratory system in science teaching in schools can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes.

The emergence of Differential Item Functioning (DIF) indicates an external bias in an item. This study aims to identify items at scientific literacy skills with integrated science (SLiSIS) test that experience DIF based on gender. Moreover, it is analyzed the emergence of DIF, especially related to the test construct measured, and concluded on how far the validity of the SLiSIS test from the construct validity of consequential type. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach by using a survey or non-experimental methods. The samples of this study were the responses of the SLiSIS test taken from 310 eleventh-grade high school students in the science program from SMA 2 and SMA 3 Tegal. The DIF analysis technique used Wald Test with the Rasch model. From the findings, eight items contained DIF in a 95 % level of trust. In 99 % level of trust, three items contained DIF, items 1, 6, and 38 or 7%. The DIF is caused by differences in test-takers ability following the measured construct, so it is not a test bias. Thus, the emergence of DIF on SLiSIS test items does not threaten the construct validity of the consequential type.
