Cultural identity in ketoprak performance should depart from all cultural products themselves. Strengthening the form of ketoprak performance in the middle of the era becomes important for artists in building their creativity. The strategy was designed so that people assume that ketoprak was theirs and able to be their representation. Based on the data collected, the number of groups, performances, and ketoprak artists in DIY were as follows. The number of groups in four districts and one municipality were 497 groups. The number of ketoprak showed from 1999-2009 was 145 times. The highest number of ketoprak groups was in Kulonprogo Regency, followed by Gunungkidul Regency, Bantul Regency, Sleman Regency, and finally the Municipality. The year 2005 was a milestone in the development of ketoprak to the present. The successful renewal of ketoprak shows can be seen by the number of shows which are 113 times over five years (from 2005 to 2009), which means that there were twenty ketoprak shows every year, and every month there were two ketoprak shows. The condition was triggered by several factors as follows. First, local government awareness to determined the icon of DIY tourism as part of globalization. Second, the awareness of artists to package performances that match the demands of the times. Third, awareness of the artistic layout strategy using symbolic and supported by Tobong ketoprak tricks. Fourthly, the influence of ketoprak humor and ketoprak R&D which still uses the style of play and jokes, causes the ketoprak show to be no longer a mere political tool, but a tool and place of friendship for the citizens. Fifth, the story was no longer based on myths, chronicles and legends, but penetrated the wayang story but with a more contextual interpretation of the story with the present. By seeing the many activities of ketoprak performances in DIY it can be said if ketoprak has become an icon of culture and tourism in DIY. Ketoprak performances tread its survival was no longer a traditional art, but has become a form of modernist art. Over the past ten years, the ketoprak show has experienced quite improved conditions. The vigilance of artists and audiences must be constantly reminded. The trick was to continuing to enhance the role of government as a protector of arts and culture. The ketoprak festival must continuing to be held continuously. Improving the skills of ketoprak artists must continuing to be sharpened. Of course the friendship between Ketoprak artists must continuing to be encouraged. The role of electron microscopy and associated techniques is assured in diagnostic pathology. At the present time, most of the progress has been made on tissues examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and correlated with light microscopy (LM) and by cytochemistry using both plastic and paraffin-embedded materials. As mentioned elsewhere in this symposium, this has revolutionized many fields of pathology including diagnostic, anatomic and clinical pathology. It began with the kidney; however, it has now been extended to most other organ systems and to tumor diagnosis in general. The results of the past few years tend to indicate the future directions and needs of this expanding field. Now, in addition to routine EM, pathologists have access to the many newly developed methods and instruments mentioned below which should aid considerably not only in diagnostic pathology but in investigative pathology as well.

Ali Bin Abi Talib once said that children should be educated in accordance with the  development of the times. The Ali bin Abi Talib’s statement could be considered as his attention more to the development of human civilization. For that reason, there should be studies focused on the role of educational institutions in facing the challenges of the times. On this stand, the writer raises the existence of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) for being considered to have been able to survive amid the onslaught of civilization increasingly obscuring cultural identity. In addition, this study also aims to identify and discuss the role of pesantren in the modern era. This is a literature study using a descriptive and exploratory approach. It can be concluded that pesantren are non-formal Islamic educational institutions. Pesantren have permanent and distictive methods and learning models. The purpose of pesantren education is the same as Islamic education in general, instilling a sense of virtue, familiarizing themselves with courtesy, preparing for a holy, sincere and honest life entirely. Pesantren could be seen from three aspects: (a) pesantren that are seen from facilities and infrastructures, (b) pesantren that are seen from disciplines taught, and (c) pesantren that are seen from the fields of knowledge.

The effects and usefulness of active and passive static stretching have raised heated debates. Over the years, the pendulum has swung from a glorified vision to their vilification. As most of the times, the truth often lies somewhere in-between. But even if there was no controversy surrounding the effects of static and passive stretching (which there is), and even if their effects were homogeneously positive (which they are not), that would not be sufficient to make stretching mandatory for practicing physical exercise, for most populations. Amidst the many discussions, an important issue has remained underexplored: the prerequisites to answer the question “Can I?” are not sufficient to answer the question “Do I have to?”, especially when alternative interventions are available. In this current opinion paper, we address four potential applications of stretching: (i) warm-up; (ii) cool-down; (iii) range of motion; and (iv) injury risk. We argue that while stretching can be used in the warm-up and cool-down phases of the training, its inclusion is not mandatory, and its effectiveness is still questionable. Stretching can be used to improve range of motion, but alternative and effective interventions are available. The role of stretching in injury risk is also controversial, and the literature often misinterprets association with causation and assumes that stretching is the only intervention to improve flexibility and range of motion. Overall, the answer to the question “Can I stretch?” is “yes”. But the answer to the question “Do I have to?” is “no, not really”.

This scientific article highlights the place and role of the Karakalpak ethnic culture in the development and preservation of the identity of the people. The authors analyze the culture and life of the modern Karakalpak family, which inherits to the next generation the traditional way of life associated with national holidays and traditions, dastans performed by Karakalpak bakhshi (singers), legends and legends of the past, told by the older generation. The article argues that social changes in the global space contribute to the emergence of certain changes in the content of cultural identity, language, art, spiritual categories, which are elements of the basis of the national identity of each nation and various ethno-regional units, which further strengthens the study of this issue under the influence of the process of globalization.

This study aims to describe the role of local government and the participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the development of Plastic Woven Crafts in Karanggebang Jetis Village, Ponorogo Regency. The theory used in the formulation of the first problem regarding the role of local government uses the theory of Gede Diva (2009) which divides the role of government in three ways, namely the role of government as a facilitator, the role of government as regulator and the role of government as a catalyst. Second, the participation of UMKM actors uses the theory of Cohen and Uphoff in Distianto (2016) into four forms of participation, namely participation in planning, participation in implementation, participation in the utilization of results and finally participation in evaluation.This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The technique of determining informants using purposive sampling techniques and data collection techniques carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this research in the efforts to develop UMKM Plastic Weaving Crafts in Karanggebang Jetis Village, Ponorogo Regency, in general, there has been no interference from the government and UMKM entrepreneurs. So far, plastic woven crafts are still not developed. To develop UMKM especially plastic woven handicrafts located in Karanggebang Jetis, it is necessary to have the role of government and participation of UMKM actors.

<em>This research is about the role of local government in the effort to preserve the cultural customs that exist in the life of the Dayak people who Ma'anyan live in areas along the Barito river in East Barito regency. Wadian Dadas is one of the means of ceremonies in the field of traditional medicine in Ma'anyan Dayak tribe community in Central Kalimantan Province. That said, Wadian dadas originally Obtained through the inspiration Obtained by a woman named Ineh Ngundri Mountains. The woman is inspired to perform the duties of a god to heal a person or what is commanded by God. This woman is the first Wadian and is a messenger of gods embodied in the form of an eagle, then Wadian will be continued by the next Descendants. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were conducted by primary and secondary collecting the data through interviews and observations with resource persons, for secondary Data Obtained from history books and documents belonging to the village government. The results Showed that Wadian Dadas originally for the healing rituals of the sick who started with the preparation of offerings, to perform the healing ritual by involving Wadian (shaman) is very trusted by the Dayak community Ma'anyan. Wadians in Ma'anyan Dayak community have now developed into Wadian Dadas Dances. Dadas Wadian dance begins with dances performed in the process of traditional medicine performed by Wadian. In the early 1980s Wadian dadas was known by some so that Wadian dadas the which originally served as a ritual ceremony medication Became an inspiration for the appearance of the dance Wadian Dadas. Dadas Wadian dance is one of the traditional dances. This dance is unique in its simple and energetic motion, the which has deep meaning and is Often presented in traditional events of Central Kalimantan. In the beginning this dance is performed with the excuse to get healed and free from evil spirits cause disease. The findings of this study are as the times progress, this dance is also presented at the event of welcoming and marriage. But there are still many people of Indonesia, even the citizens of Borneo who have not understood and are reluctant to desire to preserve this traditional dance. Dadas Wadian magical dance contains high value Because in every movement contains meaning, even in movement there is a spell pronunciation.</em>

From 1862 to 1923, congressional seed distribution was among the most important functions of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). One of the largest agricultural programs in the late nineteenth century, the practice itself stayed in place until 1923. The subject of little historical research, the seed distribution project is usually viewed as a failure of the scientific agricultural establishment, or as vote mongering by Congress, and its demise as the simple culmination of Progressive Era reform. However, this episode in American history reveals much more than debates over science and agriculture by highlighting the many cultural, economic, scientific, and political questions about the proper role of government in a democracy. By examining heated contemporary political exchanges and published critiques, this article assesses what different constituencies viewed as good in government as they argued for or against free seed distribution, even as the USDA used seed as a vehicle for consolidating the place of science and knowledge in agriculture and in government.

This article provides background information on public and non-profit sector innovation in the past thirty years in the West as well as in China. We summarized and commented on the articles in this issue, which document cases of public and non-profit sector innovation in China and theorize their significance. These cases tell vivid stones about how Chinese organizations innovate and also point out the importance of the role of government in initiating or constraining these innovations. We find, through the review of these studies, that China's public and non-profit sector organization innovation experiences carry some important messages about the unique features of China's public and non-profit organizations that should not be ignored while studying changes in China.

A passport is an identity given to an individual by his country, to travel to other countries. With globalisation, ‘passports’ that were papers stamped at the entrance and exit by customs during the past centuries have increasingly become critical documents. It is not only a personal document, but it also represents the country to which it belongs. The designs should reflect the cultural identity of a nation, in the form of visual elements, illustrations and photographs. Countries that are aware that their passports reflect their cultural values are able to combine their passport designs with the modern design concept of the times creatively and stylishly, as an artistic work. This qualitative study is aimed at evaluating passport designs in terms of being a representative of a cultural identity and examining passport designs that are re-examined with innovative and modern understanding cultural identity.
