We report on an empirical investigation of the internationalization of an online community of practice situated in academe and which fosters among its members communication and collaboration. Attracting additional active participants throughout the world is an important goal for many online professional communities. Based on theories and findings in the innovation diffusion and international business literature, we propose that cultural distance has significant negative effects on the activity of an online community encompassing different countries, while economic conditions will moderate this negative impact. An empirical study based on the archival data from AIS-ISWorld, an online community of information systems academics, supports our central hypotheses.

The rules of the value of Islamic teachings that display moderation in its most beautiful format have made it very easily accepted by every human layer. Moderation in Islam has given a "guarantee" of eternal space to the teachings of this religion until the end of time. The main constancy and flexibility in the branch of Islamic teachings, makes it always able to adapt to any situation in all times and times "shalehun li kulli era wa makan". Strict basic teachings (tsawabit) and flexible branches (murunah) have provided such a wide space for the existence of ijtihad in Islam that we can be sure that this teaching has not experienced chaos. This moderation of Islam that is "built in" God promises to make this religion superior to any religion, and to any ideology produced by humans.Islam strongly opposes the anti-moderation attitude or rather extremism (ghuluw) in any form. Ghuluw's attitude will cause negative impacts and minus excesses for individuals, families, communities, countries, and the world. Extreme attitude in religion will also have a negative impact on religion itself and will cause disasters outside the religion. Extremism (ghuluwism) will cause the-religion of-Islam to be the accused party of-the emergence of harmony among local and international communities.

The problem of global warming is a threat to humankind. A slow, steady and gradual increase in the average temperature on the planet is a systematic event directly related to the negative effects of climate change. This phenomenon contributes to the rise of the world ocean level, and, as a result, leads to flooding of large territories. The world community is concerned about the need for concerted action within the UN to develop common standards and principles to counter the negative effects of global warming and climate change issues have become the subject of legal regulation on international and regional levels. Climate change under discussion has been an important issue for more than a decade. However, at present, humanity is facing a real threat to its further existence, as the increase in the average planetary temperature threatens not only natural but also economic, social and political crises and disasters. In this paper, the authors analyze various effects of global processes, in which humans take part, on the prospects and directions of the development of civilization. The focus is on one of the most important problems – the negative impact of humans on the environment – the current situation and potential threats. The authors attempted to address the specific consequences of climate change from the standpoint of the existing international legal regulation, from the 1992 Framework Convention to the 2016 Paris Agreement, while highlighting the economic and political dilemmas faced by the international community, as well as various scenarios of development for different regions of the world. Naturally, the positions of the two antagonistic world powers, the Russian Federation and the United States of America, are discussed, as well as the conflict of interests of the international community as a whole and individual states. The authors also discuss a rather sensitive matter of protection of individual rights of people, mentioning certain achievements in this area due to the functioning of international human rights mechanisms, both of quasi-judicial and judicial nature. As a conclusion for the commentary, the authors formulated the consequences to which this trend can lead, considering both the economic, social and political aspects.

The current pandemic of COVID-19 has already become a test of strength for world economy and institutions of global economic regulation. The main goal of the article is to review existing research on the economy of pandemics focusing on COVID-19, and to develop a conceptual framework for further assessment of negative impact of COVID-19 on the economies of the world and ways to minimize this impact on economic development. The author’s methodological approach goes beyond the traditional interpretation of the pandemic economy; we use the term “coronavirus global economy” to show the unprecedented and comprehensive impact of a pandemic on the development of the world economy, the movement of factors of production, economic integration and economic growth. Under these conditions, many theories of economic development, the mechanisms of trade and investment policies need to be seriously reevaluated. The review shows that the increasing negative impact of COVID-19 on the global economy lies in the fact that it has not managed to recover from the global crisis of 2008 and was in a "pre-recession" state; the preparedness of countries to counter the pandemic was extremely low, and the institutions of international cooperation were paralyzed failing to develop measures to effectively protect against the current consequences of COVID-19. The review of the literature demonstrates the uniqueness of the current pandemic in terms of negative effects on both the supply and demand side of the global financial system, which is especially aggravated by the high debt burden of many countries. Globalization is considered to be the main determinant of the high spread of the coronavirus pandemic in both the medical and economic contexts, but at the same time, states remain fragmented and protectionist in terms of combating the pandemic.
