Tabbhuwân is a Madurese tradition of performing arts. In the present context, modern culture influences many young people. It has become a restlessness for the clerics who then think of strategies on how to incorporate Islamic values in the younger generation today. In 2015 in Situbondo, Wali Sanga boarding school established a tabbhuwân wali sanga art group. Tabbhuwân is considered a way of preaching according to the conditions and culture of the community of Madura Situbondo. The players consist of the santri of the younger generation of Islamic boarding schools. Tabbhuwân wali sanga features Islamic drama performances that elevate the play of Islamic history and Indonesia. The play included Islamic history (stories of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad), local history, the history of the entry of Islam on Java (walisanga), and the history of Indonesian independence, one of which was titled ‘Jihad Resolution.’ Besides, tabbhuwân also includes elements of Madurese culture, including language, traditional music, expression, decoration, and discourse. Tabbhuwân plays a role in the spread of Islam, preserving Madurese culture and instilling nationalism in society through historical themes. The lower-middle-class community assumes that tabbhuwân is a means to understand the historical, social, and cultural realities occurring today. Tabbhuwân also influences fostering a sense of nationalism through heroic historical values, especially to the younger generation. In this case, tabhuwân imagines Indonesia in the discourse of religious nationalism. Islam, Nasional, dan Sejarah Lokal dalam Seni Pertunjukan Tabbhuwan Walisanga. Hal ini menjadi keresahan para ulama yang kemudian memikirkan strategi bagaimana memasukkan nilai-nilai Islam pada generasi muda saat ini. Pada tahun 2015 di Situbondo, Pondok Pesantren Wali Sanga mendirikan kelompok seni tabbhuwân wali sanga. Tabbhuwân dianggap sebagai cara dakwah yang sesuai dengan kondisi dan budaya masyarakat Madura Situbondo. Para pemainnya terdiri dari para santri generasi muda pondok pesantren. Tabbhuwân wali sanga menampilkan pertunjukan drama Islam yang mengangkat lakon sejarah Islam dan Indonesia. Lakon tersebut meliputi sejarah Islam (cerita para sahabat Nabi Muhammad), sejarah lokal, sejarah masuknya Islam di Jawa (walisanga), dan sejarah kemerdekaan Indonesia, salah satunya bertajuk ‘Resolusi Jihad’. Selain itu, tabbhuwân juga memasukkan unsur budaya Madura yang meliputi bahasa, musik tradisional, ekspresi, ragam hias dan wacana. Tabbhuwân berperan dalam penyebaran agama Islam, pelestarian budaya Madura dan menanamkan nasionalisme dalam masyarakat melalui tema sejarah. Masyarakat kelas menengah ke bawah menganggap tabbhuwân sebagai cara memahami realitas sejarah, sosial dan budaya yang terjadi saat ini. Tabbhuwân juga memiliki pengaruh dalam menumbuhkan rasa nasionalisme melalui nilai-nilai sejarah yang heroik, khususnya kepada generasi muda. Dalam hal ini, tabhuwân membayangkan Indonesia dalam wacana nasionalisme agama.

This research was conducted to determine the ability and the comparison to solve HOTS questions of Islamic History subject of the 11th grades of MAN I and MAN II Surakarta boarding school. The research applied a comparative quantitative method by comparing the ability to solve HOTS questions of Islamic History subject of the 11th grade of MAN I and MAN II Surakarta students. The result reveals that MAN I students’ ability to solve HOTS questions reaches 22% and is categorized as low, 55% of students obtained scores of medium category, and 23% of students are in the high category. Meanwhile, for MAN II students,  14% obtained scores for the low category, 49% for the medium category, and 37% for the high category. There were no significant differences related to the ability to solve HOTS questions of Islamic history of both schools. With HOTS’s evaluation, the students can expand the ability to solve HOTS questions, and the teachers can take into consideration to implement HOTS’s evaluation.

This study aims to determine the Analysis of Gayo Poet Traditional Communication Media In Building Community Islamic Insights Central Aceh District by using qualitative research methods using data collection techniques such as Observation, Documentary, and Interview. The data that has been collected, compiled systematically, then read, translated, understood, and classified based on the coding that has been determined. Furthermore, explore and analyze the data carefully and take into account other appropriate references. The results of the research are that the "saer" poem in the Gayo community in Central Aceh Regency not only acts as a medium and means of art, but has a broad role and function in social life. The message and Islamic insight of Gayo's verse "saer" is an interpretation of Islamic religious teachings sourced from the Qur'an, the prophet's hadith and local wisdom of the community. The themes contained in the "saer" Gayo poem include the theme of Islamic teachings which include the value of monotheism, prayer and mu'amalah worship, pilgrimage, morals, alms, fasting, morals and education themes, Islamic history, the history of the Revolution. Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, local history, natural and environmental themes and cultural-customary themes.

The origins and characteristics of the rare book collection of L. Tolstoy Scientific Library are discussed. The focus is made of the unique publications in the local history of the late 19-th – eary 20-th century. The publications cover the history of the region and comprising vast document array. Several publications are described in detail, e. g. «Migrant small-holders in Turgay Oblast», «Essays in the Natural History of the 1- st and 2-тв Maurzum volost of Turgay Oblast», statistical reports, land management instructions, «The Proceedings of Kustanay Society of Local Lore and History», etc. The problem of the collection preservation and digitization is discussed.

The Civil War is one of the largest tragedies in the history of our country. One of its dramatic episodes is the rebel movement led by A.S. Antonov which took place in the Tambov gubenia in 1920–1921 and was brutally suppressed by the Bolsheviks. Its scope is evidenced by the fact that it went beyond the borders of the Tambov gubernia. Separate detachments of Antonovites from the autumn of 1920 to the summer of 1921 raided the territory of the Balashov uyezd of the neighboring Saratov gubernia. The paper attempts to consider the way the uyezd authorities fought the rebels and the way civilians treated them. On the basis of an analysis of the local archival material most of which has not yet been put into scientific circulation, periodicals and the local history literature the author comes to the following conclusion: every time the invasions of Antonov’s detachments into the territory of the Balashov uyezd were so rapid that the local authorities did not manage to organize a proper rebuff, and the peasants, for the most part, supported the rebels since they saw spokesmen and defenders of their interests in them. Only frequent requisitions of peasants’ property by Antonovites as well as the replacement of the surplus appropriation system (Prodrazvyorstka) by the tax in kind (Prodnalog) led to the fact that since the spring of 1921 the support of the rebels by the local population ceased.

This paper briefly and through theoretical studies will discuss simply the problems formulated, the impact of globalization on Character education in Indonesia, as well as the paradigm of PKN learning and Character education challenges for the younger generation. It is on the ground by the declining awareness and moral values, as well as to increase the values of the characters seen in the young generations. Civic education in Indonesia has been running throughout the history of Indonesian independence, and has gone through various stages and arms, it certainly demands greater hard work of teachers to be able to increase the values of Pancasila and love of the homeland, and practice the character values which is based on the noble values of Indonesian culture into Indonesian youth.

This article examines the appropriation and redirection of the Gothic in two contemporary, Native-centered feature films that concern a history that can be said to haunt many Native North American communities today: the history of Indian boarding schools. Georgina Lightning’s Older than America (2008) and Kevin Willmott’s The Only Good Indian (2009) make use of Gothic conventions and the figures of the ghost and the vampire to visually relate the history and horrors of Indian boarding schools. Each of these Native-centered films displays a cinematic desire to decenter Eurocentric histories and to counter mainstream American genres with histories and forms of importance to Native North American peoples. Willmott’s film critiques mythologies of the West and frontier heroism, and Lightning attempts to sensitize non-Native viewers to contemporary Native North American concerns while also asserting visual sovereignty and affirming spiritual values.

This article looks at the appearance of domestic spaces on the popular livestreaming platform Twitch.tv, with a focus on livestreams that appear to be shot in streamers’ bedrooms. Many Twitch streamers broadcast from their homes, making domestic space central to questions of placemaking for this rapidly growing digital media form. Within the home, bedrooms merit particular attention because they carry particular cultural connotations; they are associated with intimacy, embodiment, and erotics. Drawing from observations of gaming and nongaming streams, we map where bedrooms do and do not appear on Twitch. We locate the majority of bedrooms in categories that foreground connections between streamers and viewers, like Just Chatting, Music & Performing Arts, and autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR). By contrast, across a wide range of video game genres, bedrooms remain largely absent from gaming streams. The presence of bedrooms on Twitch also breaks down along gender lines, with women streaming being far more likely to broadcast from their bedrooms than men. Here, we build from existing research on both livestreaming and digital placemaking to argue for an understanding of place on Twitch as fundamentally performative. This performance is inherently gendered and bound up with the affective labor of streaming. In addition, we demonstrate how the bedroom, even when it does not appear on screen, can be understood as a ‘structuring logic’ of placemaking on Twitch. Given the history of livestreaming, which grows out of women’s experiments with online ‘lifecasting’, the bedroom sets expectations for the type of spatial and emotional access a stream is imagined to offer viewers. In this sense, the absence of bedrooms in gaming streams can be understood as a disavowal of intimate domestic space: an attempt by predominantly male streamers to distance themselves from the implicit parallels between livestreaming and practices like webcam modeling.

Jan de Vries revised Akira Hayami’s original theory of the “Industrious Revolution” to make the idea more applicable to early modern commercialization in Europe, showcasing the development of the rural proletariat and especially the consumer revolution and women’s emancipation on the way toward an “Industrial Revolution.” However, Japanese villages followed a different path from the Western trajectory of the “Industrious Revolution,” which is recognized as the first step to industrialization. This article will explore how a different form of “industriousness” developed in Japan, covering medieval, early modern, and modern times. It will first describe why the communal village system was established in Japan and how this unique institution, the self-reliance system of a village, affected commercialization and industrialization and was sustained until modern times. Then, the local history of Kuta Village in Kyô-Otagi, a former county located close to Kyoto, is considered over the long term, from medieval through modern times. Kuta was not directly affected by the siting of new industrial production bases and the changes brought to villages located nearer to Kyoto. A variety of diligent interactions with living spaces is introduced to demonstrate that the industriousness of local women was characterized by conscience-driven perseverance.
