The objective of this research was to determined the relationship between nitrate and phosphate content on the growth of wet biomass Salvinia molesta in Buyan Lake, and also to know the difference of growth of Salvinia molesta in each station with different treatment. The research was conducted from February to March 2017 at Buyan Lake. Biomass measurements and water sampling were carried out at 4 stations with a plot of each treatment. The measurement of wet-biomass were carried out in situ by measuring at each treatment and for measuring the nitrate and phosphate content performed in the laboratory. The result showed that nitrate correlated with biomass growth of Salvinia molesta at the lowest treatment with R2 value of 0,105 and the  highest at quarter treatment with value R2 of 0,889. The phosphate relationship with the lowest wet biomass growth was at full treatment with the R2 value of 0.042 and the highest in the quarter treatment with the R2 value of 0.936. The highest growth was found in station 1 and the lowest growth at station 4. For each treatment, the highest growth treatment was in a quarter treatment.

AbstractMicrobial community structure in the hadal water is reported to be different from that in the upper abyssal water. However, the mechanism governing the difference has not been fully understood. In this study, we investigate the vertical distributions of humic-like fluorescent dissolved organic matter (FDOMH), chemoautotrophic production, apparent oxygen utilization (AOU), and N* in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench. In the upper abyssal waters (< 6000 m), FDOMH has a significantly positive correlation with AOU; FDOMH deviates from the relationship and increases with depth without involving the increment of AOU in the hadal waters. This suggests that FDOMH is transferred from the sediments to the hadal waters through pore water, while the FDOMH is produced in situ in the upper abyssal waters. Chemoautotrophic production and N* increases and decreases with depth in the hadal waters, respectively. This corroborates the effluxes of dissolved substances, including dissolved organic matter and electron donors from sediments, which fuels the heterotrophic/chemoautotrophic microbial communities in the hadal waters. A simple box model analysis reveals that the funnel-like trench topography facilitates the increase in dissolved substances with depth in the hadal waters, which might contribute to the unique microbiological community structure in these waters.

Ti2AlC/TiAl composites with the addition of niobium were prepared by spark plasma sintering using titanium, aluminum, niobium elemental powers and TiC particles as reactants. The experimental and analytical studies on this kind of material concentrated on the relationship between reinforcement phase and mechanical properties. The Ti2AlC/TiAl composites with 5% niobium exhibit high mechanical properties. The three-point bending strength and fracture toughness reaches as high as 915MPa and 23 MPa·m1/2, respectively. It is found that the in-situ reaction occurs at 1100°C with the addition of niobium at the interface between the TiAl matrix and original reinforcement TiC. Further XRD results indicate that the difference in the reinforcement phase from TiC to Ti2AlC is one of the most important origins to the variation in mechanical properties.

In-situ identification of fish species using acoustic methods is a key issue for fisheries research and ecological applications. We propose a novel approach to fish discrimination based on the relationship between target strength frequency response (TS(f)) and vertical swim velocity (VSV), as a proxy of fish body orientation. The measurements were carried out with a wideband echosounder on live fish of five species confined in a net cage. The data show a large dependence of TS(f) on VSV. To compare the variability of frequency responses of different fishes, we calculated ΔTS(f, VSV) as the difference between the TS(f) at given VSV and the TS(f) at VSV = 0, i.e. when the fish was swimming horizontally. We demonstrated that the relationships between ΔTS and VSV were similar for fish of the same species but dissimilar for different species. This implies that the acoustic fish discrimination in nature might be performed when the variations of the VSV can be measured from acoustically tracked fish. This can be a promising method for remote fish discrimination, for instance, for fish with diurnal vertical migrations. Further validation of this approach for fish recognition is required.

The OH stretching band of water is very sensitive to temperature and salinity for the existence of hydrogen bonds between H2O molecules. In this study, the OH stretching band was deconvoluted into two Gaussian peaks, with peak 1 at approximately 3450 cm−1 and peak 2 at approximately 3200 cm−1. The positions of peaks 1 and 2 both shifted to higher wavenumbers with increasing temperature from 50 ℃ to 300 ℃. The effects of salinity in the range of 0–2 mol/kg NaCl on the OH stretching band were also studied. Linearity for the relationship between Raman shift of peak 1 and temperature increased as the salt concentration increased from 0 to 2 mol/kg, while peak 2 displayed an opposing trend. Two temperature calibration models were developed based on the temperature-dependent changes in the Raman frequency shifts of peaks 1 and 2 (precision of 0.9 ℃ and 1.0 ℃, respectively). The calibration models for temperature were successfully applied to determining the temperatures of deep-sea hydrothermal fluids in the Okinawa Trough hydrothermal field. The degree of mixing of hydrothermal fluids and ambient seawater during in situ Raman measurements was estimated by the difference in temperatures determined through these calibration models and those measured through thermocouple sensors.

Photoluminescence behavior ofTiO2,SiO2/TiO2binary and Boron-SiO2/TiO2ternary oxides prepared by the sol-gel method was investigated. The differences in their photocatalytic reactivities ofTiO2-based photocatalysts were interpreted in terms of the relationship of the difference in their photoluminescence characteristics. The addition ofSiO2intoTiO2matrix induced new photoluminescence sites, which were due to anchored titanium oxide species (i.e., the formation of Ti–O–Si bonds) located on the surface. The photoluminescence was found to be very sensitive to the presence of oxygen. These new photoluminescence completely disappeared by the addition of boron intoSiO2/TiO2binary oxide, since the emitting sites having a Ti–O–Si bond were destroyed and the new sites having B–O–Ti or Si–O–B bonds were constructed on the surface, being in agreement with the results obtained by FT-IR measurements. For allTiO2-based photocatalysts, a significant quenching of photoluminescence was observed by the addition of oxygen. It was found that the photocatalytic reactivity ofTiO2-based photocatalysts for the decomposition of trichloroethylene was clearly associated with their relative quenching efficiencies of photoluminescence; photocatalyst showing high quenching efficiency exhibited a high photocatalytic reactivity.

Electron microscopy at 0.2nm point-to-point resolution, 10-10 torr specimei region vacuum and facilities for in-situ specimen cleaning presents intere; ing possibilities for surface structure determination. Three methods for examining the surfaces are available: reflection (REM), transmission (TEM) and profile imaging. Profile imaging is particularly useful because it giv good resolution perpendicular as well as parallel to the surface, and can therefore be used to determine the relationship between the surface and the bulk structure.

There are more supports for the view that human papillomavirus (HPV) infection might be an etiological factor in the development of cervical cancer when the association of persistent condylomata is considered. Biopsies from 318 cases with squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix, 48 with cervical and vulvar condylomata, 14 with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), 34 with chronic cervicitis and 24 normal cervical epithelium were collected from 5 geographic regions of China with different cervical cancer mortalities. All specimens were prepared for Dot blot, Southern blot and in situ DNA-DNA hybridizations by using HPV-11, 16, 18 DNA labelled with 32P and 3H as probes to detect viral homologous sequences in samples. Among them, 32 cases with cervical cancer, 27 with condyloma and 10 normal cervical epitheliums were randomly chosen for comparative EM observation. The results showed that: 1), 192 out of 318 (60.4%) cases of cervical cancer were positive for HPV-16 DNA probe (Table I)

A custom in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid fitting was compared to two over-the-ear (OTE) hearing aid fittings for each of 9 subjects with mild to moderately severe hearing losses. Speech intelligibility via the three instruments was compared using the Speech Intelligibility Rating (SIR) test. The relationship between functional gain and coupler gain was compared for the ITE and the higher rated OTE instruments. The difference in input received at the microphone locations of the two types of hearing aids was measured for 10 different subjects and compared to the functional gain data. It was concluded that (a) for persons with mild to moderately severe hearing losses, appropriately adjusted custom ITE fittings typically yield speech intelligibility that is equal to the better OTE fitting identified in a comparative evaluation; and (b) gain prescriptions for ITE hearing aids should be adjusted to account for the high-frequency emphasis associated with in-the-concha microphone placement.

Summary: Our meta-analysis focused on the relationship between homocysteine (Hcy) level and the incidence of aneurysms and looked at the relationship between smoking, hypertension and aneurysms. A systematic literature search of Pubmed, Web of Science, and Embase databases (up to March 31, 2020) resulted in the identification of 19 studies, including 2,629 aneurysm patients and 6,497 healthy participants. Combined analysis of the included studies showed that number of smoking, hypertension and hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) in aneurysm patients was higher than that in the control groups, and the total plasma Hcy level in aneurysm patients was also higher. These findings suggest that smoking, hypertension and HHcy may be risk factors for the development and progression of aneurysms. Although the heterogeneity of meta-analysis was significant, it was found that the heterogeneity might come from the difference between race and disease species through subgroup analysis. Large-scale randomized controlled studies of single species and single disease species are needed in the future to supplement the accuracy of the results.

In Uruguay, Lacanian ideas arrived in the 1960s, into a context of Kleinian hegemony. Adopting a discursive approach, this study researched the initial reception of these ideas and its effects on clinical practices. We gathered a corpus of discursive data from clinical cases and theoretical-doctrinal articles (from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s). In order to examine the effects of Lacanian ideas, we analysed the difference in the way of interpreting the clinical material before and after Lacan's reception. The results of this research illuminate some epistemological problems of psychoanalysis, especially the relationship between theory and clinical practice.
