ABSTRACT One of the many health problems experienced by teenagers and experiencing a significant increase in terms of numbers each year is Overweight and Obesity. Overweight and obesity conditions can be handled by increasingphysical activity in the form of running high intensity interval training and Jump rope exercise. The research wasrandomized pre and post control group design with sample of 15-18 year old teenagers amounted to 20 people anddivided into two groups namely group running high intensity interval training and Jump rope exercise. Samples that metinclusion and exclusion criteria were randomized and then measured fat percentage using Bioelectrical ImpendanceAnalysis (BIA). After 3 days of training a week for 4 weeks the sample is measured again for the data analysis. Theresult using Paired sample T-test to analyze that the group running high intensity interval training had p = 0,001 (p<0,05) and jump rope exercise had p = 0,003 (p <0,05) which mean in each group There was a significant decrease infat percentage during and before training. Then the two groups were tested using Independent sample T-test with p p =0,771 (p> 0,05), meaning there was no significant difference of effectivity in both groups. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on the body fat percentage of menopausal women with obesity. This research method was quasi-experimental. The research design carried out was the pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The results obtained before and after the treatment were both normally distributed and homogeneous. Then independet sample t-test carried out with the result that there was significant difference between the control and experimental groups. In conclusion, high intensity interval training (HIIT) had a significant impact on the fat percentage of  menopausal women with obesity. Keywords: HIIT, Obesity, Menopause.

Background: Cardiorespiratory fitness in adolescence affects the level of fitness and determinants of health levels in old age. School adolescents who have low physical activity need easy, efficient and effective physical training to increase cardiorespiratry fitness, namely high intensity interval training. Objective: to determine the effect of high intensity interval training on cardiorespitatory fitness training in adolescents. Subjects: 60 high school students (men n = 21, women n = 39) aged 15-19 years who met the study criteria and were divided into 2 groups, a high intensity interval training group and a control group by jogging. Method: quasi experimental with pre-test and post-test one group design with control group. The instrument used in this study was a 20m shuttle run test. Analysis: normality test with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, then parametric test with paired sample t-test and parametric difference test with independent sample t-test. Results: VO2max pre-test and post-test high intensity interval training group obtained p value = 0,000 (p <0.05) which showed there were significant differences before and after treatment. The results of the post-test different test between the control and treatment groups showed that the value of p = 0,000 (p <0.05) showed that there was a significant difference between the high intensity interval training group and the control group and the results of the different mean mean were greater in the high intensity interval training group. after and before treatment. Conclusion: high intensity interval training can increase cardiorespiratory fitness in adolescents according to the results of VO2max values.

High-intensity exercise exercises in the exercise process use enormous amounts of muscle glycocal energy to strengthen adipose tissue into energy acids, energy requirements balanced with oxygen demand that will improve pulmonary performance and physiology. Weight-adjusting exercises are adjusted to the adaptation and physiology of muscles, increased muscle development and physiological muscles and muscles increases into more so that the energy process increases both muscle glycogen and increased fat oxidation. In this study the sample will be divided into 2 groups, group I will be given High intensity interval training, group II will be given Circuit weight training, both groups aim to reduce the percentage of body fat and increase the vital capacity of the lung. This study measures the pre and post test results so that it will be measured before treatment and after treatment after the exercise program for 6 weeks. Samples will be measured using Bioelectrical Impedance Analisys to measure the percentage of body fat and Spirometry to measure vital pulmonary capacity.The results of the first group hypothesis test showed the value before the fat percentage of 21.75 and after training to be 19.46, then before the vital capacity of the lungs 2.32 and after training to 4.02. While in group 2 the fat percentage value was 21.55 and the training was determined to be 19.79. For the value of vital capacity of lung 2.46 and after training to 3.64, with the probability value in both groups was 0.000 which means (p <0.05) and the measurement was no significant difference from both exercises. In the test of hypothesis III the comparison of results in group I , II, t-test independent sample with the result of the average group I fat difference 2.29 ± 0.46, KVparu 1.75 ± 0.55, Group II fat% 1.70 ± 0.43, KVparu 1.17 ± 0.45 with fat% probability value (p = 0,725) and KVparu (p = 0,073) which means (p> 0,05) and can. There was no significant difference between the three interventions.The conclusion of this research is high intensity interval training as well as ciecuit weight training in decreasing body fat percentage and increasing vital capacity of lung

Objective Liver, as one of the most important organs involved in lipids and glucose metabolism, yet no study has examined the response of liver kinase B1 (LKB1) and AMP-activated protein kinase α(AMPKα) signaling after high intensity interval training. This study aims to evaluate the effect of 16-week high intensity interval training intervention on the expression of LKB1、AMPKα in liver of aging rats. Methods 8 -month-old male Wistar rats(n=40)were randomly divided into control group (C) and HIIT group (H). Group H with 70%-90%-50%VO2max intensity training for 50min/ day, 5 days / week, lasted for 16 weeks. Rats were killed on 0, 8 and 16 weeks. We examined the protein expression of LKB1 and AMPKα in liver. Proteins were analyzed by western blot analysis. Data are mean±SD; for ANOVA, p<0.05 was significant. Results The AMPKα levels in group C and group H increased with time and there was no significant difference between the groups. The content of LKB1 in group C and group H both increased first and then decreased, but there was no significant difference between the groups. Conclusions 16-week high intensity interval training intervention had no effect on LKB1, AMPKα protein expression in aging rats.

Background: Growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor 1 are anabolic hormones that play a vital role in the growth of various physical organs. Exercise is one of the stimuli that affect GH and IGF-1 secretion. Objectives: This study aimed to compare the effect of two types of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on plasma levels of GH and IGF-l in overweight nurses. Methods: In this study, 27 nurses were voluntarily selected and randomly assigned to three groups (9 participants for each group): 1. HIIT (type 1), including eight seconds of spring running and 12 seconds of active recovery, 2. HIIT (type 2), including a 40-meter shuttle run with maximum speed, 3. control. HIIT (type 1) was performed for four weeks, three sessions per week, each session 6 - 9 min with more than 90% HRmax. HIIT (type 2) was applied for four weeks, three sessions per week, with more than 90% HRmax. The control group did not participate in any training protocol. The serum value of GH and IGF-1 were compared in three groups. The data were analyzed by the dependent t-test and ANOVA. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to analyze the intergroup data at P ⟨ 0.05. Results: The results showed that HIIT (type 1) and (type 2) significantly increased plasma GH (P = 0.032 in group 2 and P = 0.010 in group 1) and IGF-l (P = 0.004 in group 2 and P = 10.013 in group 1) levels in nurses. The results showed a significant difference in the variables (GH and IGF-l) among HIIT (type 1), HIIT (type 2), and control groups. Conclusions: It can be concluded that four weeks of adverse intermittent exercises are effective in increasing the concentration of GH and IGF-1 serum and decreased percentage body fat in young nurses with overweight, and proportional to the intensity of the exercise protocol response rate is different.

12054 Background: Patients with advanced NSCLC experience fatigue and physical deconditioning altering their quality of life. Safety and feasibility of high intensity exercise in advanced NSCLC has not been explored yet. Methods: We report the results of a single-center, prospective two-arm study. Patients with advanced NSCLC actively receiving systemic therapy or having completed treatment less than 2 months prior to enrollment were included. Patients were allocated to either an intervention arm consisting of kinesiologist supervised high intensity interval training (HIIT) at 2 sessions per week for a total of 12 weeks; or a control arm of home exercise guided by an informative pamphlet. All patients were evaluated at baseline, 6 and 12 weeks by a kinesiologist. Quality of life (QoL) exercise surveys and measurement of strength were measured. Results: Sixty patients were enrolled between January 2018 and March 2020. The study was interrupted due to COVID-19. Thirty-two patients were included in the exercise program and 28 patients in the control group. Both groups were balanced in respect to baseline characteristics. A total of 32 (53%) patients went off protocol, 13 (18%) patients stopped due to symptomatic disease progression which included 2 (3%) deaths, 2 (3%) stopped due to COVID-19 preoccupations and the remaining patients withdrew for other reasons. 42 (70%) patients were evaluated at 6-weeks and 28 (47%) completed the 12-week follow-up, with equal distribution in each group. There were no significant difference at 12 weeks in the physical assessment nor the overall QoL scores between both groups: FACT-L on 135 points (+4.1 vs +1.7, p = 0.342) and FACIT on 52 points (+3 vs -0.2, p = 0.832). Patients in the exercise group demonstrated a significant improvement at 12 weeks in the Lung Cancer Symptoms domain on 28 points (22.3 vs 19.8, p = 0.015) as well as the Physical Wellbeing domain on 28 points (23.6 vs 20.6, p = 0.056) compared to the control group, respectively. No significant exercise related complications were reported. After the study, 9 of the 14 patients (64%) who completed the HIIT program continued to exercise virtually with a kinesiologist in contrast to none in the control group. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the safety and potential benefit of a HIIT program on lung-specific and physical wellbeing in patients with advanced NSCLC on active treatment. This study provides further support on the role of supervised physical exercise in patients living with cancer. Clinical trial information: 16.229.

This study investigated the effect of 4weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with specific techniques and analyzed inter-individual variability [classified in responders (Rs) and non-responders (NRs)] on jumping ability and change of direction speed (CODS) in youth karate athletes. Athletes of both genders (n=10) were randomly assigned into experimental group (EG; n=5) and the control group (CG; n=5). The EG trained 2–3days per week applying HIIT (three rounds [15 sets of 4s all-out specific efforts with 8s of dynamical pauses] with 3min of recovery between rounds) during their usual training during 4weeks. Assessments included squat jump (SJ) and countermovement jump (CMJ) and CODS by T-test. No significant interaction effect group by time was found. Although, in percentage and effect size (ES) terms increases were reported in both groups for SJ (EG: 15.2%, ES=0.91 vs. CG: 12.4%, ES=0.02) and only in EG for the T-test (−1.7%; ES=−0.35). In turn, a trend toward a higher proportion of Rs was observed in the EG (40% Rs) vs. CG (20% Rs) for SJ and CODS, respectively. In conclusion, the addition to regular training of a HIIT with specific techniques and based on the temporal combat structure after 4weeks was not a sufficient stimulus to increase jumping ability and CODS in karate athletes.

This systematic review with a meta-analysis was conducted to compare the effects of small-sided games (SSGs)-based interventions with the effects of running-based high-intensity interval training (HIIT) interventions on soccer players’ repeated sprint ability (RSA). The data sources utilized were Web of Science, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and PubMed. The study eligibility criteria were: (i) parallel studies (SSG-based programs vs. running-based HIIT) conducted in soccer players with no restrictions on age, sex, or competitive level; (ii) isolated intervention programs (i.e., only SSG vs. only running-based HIIT as individual forms) with no restrictions on duration; (iii) a pre–post outcome for RSA; (iv) original, full-text, peer-reviewed articles written in English. An electronic search yielded 513 articles, four of which were included in the present study. There was no significant difference between the effects of SSG-based and HIIT-based training interventions on RSA (effect size (ES) = 0.30; p = 0.181). The within-group analysis revealed no significant effect of SSG-based training interventions (ES = −0.23; p = 0.697) or HIIT-based training interventions (ES = 0.08; p = 0.899) on RSA. The meta-comparison revealed that neither SSGs nor HIIT-based interventions were effective in improving RSA in soccer players, and no differences were found between the two types of training. This suggests that complementary training may be performed to improve the effects of SSGs and HIIT. It also suggests that different forms of HIIT can be used because of the range of opportunities that such training affords.

Abstract Background Interventricular interactions in increased RV afterload such as hypoxia stress, which affects both synchrony and function in an in-series effect as well as a parallel effect arising from leftward septal shift. Improved myocardial contractility is a critical circulatory adaptation to exercise training, however, the types of exercise that can improve interventricular synchrony under hypoxic environment have not yet been established. Purpose This study investigates how high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) influence on the interventricular synchrony in response to normobaric hypoxia in sedentary men. Methods Fifty-four sedentary males were randomized to perform HIIT (3-minute intervals at 40% and 80% VO2peak, n=18), MICT (sustained 60% VO2peak, n=18) for 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week for 6 weeks and the control group (CTL, n=18). Synchrony measurements at apical 4-chamber view including (1) intra-delay, the difference in time to peak strain (TS) between segmental septal-to-lateral ventricular or atrial walls, and (2) inter-delay, the difference in TS between RV or RA free wall and LV or LA lateral wall. The data were acquired by 2-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography at rest under hypoxic condition (12% FIO2, simulated an altitude of 4,500 m) before and after the interventions. Results HIIT had significantly elevated radial and longitudinal strains in both LA and LV (p&lt;0.05). As the results showed, HIIT was superior than MICT in improvement of longitudinal intra-delay of LV; furthermore, only HIIT simultaneously ameliorated both radial and longitudinal synchrony at apex. Although the HIIT enhanced intraventricular synchrony in both motions, whereas the interventricular synchrony deteriorated at radial motion. In atrium synchrony, although both groups augmented the intra-LA synchrony, however, only HIIT reduced the inter-delay between LA and RA at the roof motion. LV end-systolic volume (ESV) significantly correlated with the longitudinal inter-delay of ventricle (r=−0.53, p&lt;0.05), whereas the LV end-diastolic volume (EDV) correlated with the inter-delay of atrium in roof motion (r=0.40, p&lt;0.05). Conclusion We found differences between HIIT and MICT in segmental intra- and inter- synchrony. HIIT enhanced both ventricular or atrial synchrony, and further increased the EDV coupled with decreased ESV. These findings give new insight into cardiac adaptation to difference endurance training and the long-term impact of such changes warrants future study in cardiac diseases. The ability to process goal-related visual information while ignoring goal-irrelevant information is essential for the human attention system. The study aimed to investigate how perceptual–cognitive performance was affected during high-intensity interval training (HIIT) using a 3D-multiple object tracking (3D-MOT) task called Neurotracker (NT). In an experimental design, 42 healthy adults (age M = 23.3 SD = 2.94, VO2max 52.8 ± 5.66 mL·kg−1·min−1) were randomly assigned to an intervention (HIIT + NT, NT, HIIT) or control group. NT performance (20 trials per session) was measured pre-and post-test (at 5, 15, and 25 min while running on the treadmill). The participants trained twice a week for a 4-week intervention period. There was a significant interaction effect between pre/post-test and groups regarding perceptual-cognitive performance, indicating similar enhancements in the HIIT + NT and the NT group during exercise. HIIT influences physical fitness but did not show any impact on perceptual–cognitive performance. Due to the specific NT task characteristics, improved physical abilities may not directly impact sport-specific perceptual-cognitive performance. Our findings suggest that training resulted in substantial task-specific gains. Therefore, combination training may be proposed as a training program to improve perceptual–cognitive, and physical performance in a time-efficient way.
