The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the Semantic Boggle Game on building vocabulary transferability in foreign language students. The study was conducted in SMPN 177 Jakarta. The population in this study was all seventh-graders of which 7E of 35 students as the sample representative. The method used in this study was a quantitative method with a pre-experimental research design. In collecting the data, the writer used the students' pre-test and post-test. The data result indicates that the total students' pre-test scores are 2085 with an average score of 59,57. The total student's post-test score is 2745 with an average of 78,68. The results of the pre-test and post-test were calculated using a t-test. The calculation of the data result indicates that the t-count was 2,26 with t-table is 1,69 at the 0,05significance level. Therefore, this implies that the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. The writers then concluded that using Semantic Boggle Game in teaching vocabulary is effective to build students’ vocabulary transferability.

This present research was conducted in order to find out the improvement in students’ listening comprehension and to figure out whether students’ interest in listening class increases after being taught the aspects of connected speech. This research used a quantitative method with pre-experimental design, namely pre-test post-test involving only the experiment group. The population of this research was all the students of the eleventh-grade who are studying at MAS Darul Ihsan which amount to 184 students. In addition, the sample of this research was 30 students of class XI F that was chosen using purposive sampling. Moreover, this research used pre-test and post-test as well as questionnaires as data collection instruments. The research found that teaching connected speech in the listening classroom improved students’ listening comprehension. This was indicated by the comparison of t-score which is higher than t-table, (3.61 > 2.04). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Furthermore, the result of students’ response sheets indicated that students have positive perception toward the teaching connected speech and it can increase their interest in learning listening.

This research is a study of improving students’ ability in reading comprehension. The aim was to find out whether the use of Herringbone technique would bring a significant difference in teaching reading comprehension through Recount text, compared with the result before the students being treated. The study was conducted in the tenth grade students of SMA N 4 Pematangsiantar. The research method used was the experimental design, where the Experimental group was the PMIA 3 class, and the PMIA 2 class as the control class. Both of the classes had 34 students in each of it. The data were obtained through pre-test, treatment and post test. The pre-test was held to know the students’ basic ability or score before treatment was given. Meanwhile, the post test was held to know the students’ achievement and significant effect after the students were taught using Herringbone technique. Finding of the research showed that both groups had a significant improvement in their reading ability after being treated and passed the KKM. The Control group, which the pre-test score was 60, made an improvement shown in their post-test score in amount of 70,44. The experimental group, the group which the researcher treated the Herringbone technique to them, had a higher improvement than the control group. The average score of pre-test in this group was about 54,41 where then being improved up to 78,97. The score of t-test (3,981) was higher than t-table (1,668) at the level of significance 5% for two tailed test, so Null Hypothesis is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis is accepted.

ABSTRACT The problem of this research was “is it significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020?” The objective of this research was to find out whether or not it is significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020. The population of this research was all of the seventh grades consist of 43 students of SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020 and total number of sample was 18 students from VIII.A. The sample in this research was taken through cluster random sampling. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental method. In collecting the data, the researcher used written test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used three techniques. They were: individual score, normality test and matched t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis, the researcher found out that the students’ average score was 59.166 in the pre-test and it increased in the post-test which score was 78.888. The result of matched t-test was 7.498, while ttable was 1.734. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Furthermore, it was significantly effective to teach vocabulary through the Concept Attainment Model (CAM) at SMP IT Annajiyah Lubuklinggau in academic year 2019/2020.

This research was designed as  pre-experimental with read aloud test as the instrument to collect data. The sample of this research consisted of 36 students of SMP Negeri 1 Aikmel. The sample was taken through purposive sampling. In collecting the data, a pre-test and a post-test were given to the students. SPSS 17 for Windows and paired-sample t-test were applied to analyze the collected data. After, calculating the data, it could be known that there was a significant difference in the mean scores between pre-test and post-test, t(df=35) = 23.314 at p = 0.001, meaning that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In a nutshell, phonics approach was significantly effective in teaching reading for the seventh graders of SMP Negeri 1 Aikmel.

This research used quantitative with true experimental design. The objective of this research was to find out whether there was an effect of using storyboard technique on students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAN 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon.  The population of this research were 72 students. The instrument were pre-test and post-test. The treatment used Storyboard technique was administrated for the experimental group. The result of independent t-test computation result of post-test score showed that t count more than the t table (6.274 1.994). It can be concluded that Ho (null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (alternative hypothesis) was accepted. Based on the data analysis above, there was an effect using storyboard technique on students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAN 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon

This study aims to improve students’ Writing abilities using Bansky Image. The method used in research is a quantitative method with Pre Experimental as a research design. Both pre-test and post-test used as the instruments in collecting the data. The writer used one classes of the tenth grade of MA Al Fathiyah, Jakarta Timur, for the population. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling, in which one class was determined as experimental and the control class. The data was analyzed statistically by using a t-test. The result of this analysis indicated that the average value of the students was 75.7, the statistical calculation showed that the results of to (t-observation)> tt (t-table) in which to obtained was 25.357 while the value of tt was 2.037 with a significant level of 5% (0.05), since, to was higher than tt. Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while null hypothesis was rejected. From these analysis results, this research summarized that Banksy Image was an effective medium to improve students’ Writing skills.

This research investigates Genre-based Approach in improving the students’ writing narrative text. The aims of this study were to to find out the effects of the Genre-based Approach in teaching writing narrative text. In collecting data, the writer used instrument; it is writing text (pre-test and post-test). The population of the research was the eighth grade students’ of Junior High School Karangtengah Garut. The writer used a proportional random sampling, so there were 34 students as the sample (25%) of the population: 15 males and 19 females. This research a used quantitative method and the pre-experimantal design. Two variables in this research: the independent variable research was using Genre-based Approach in teaching narrative text, and dependent variable was using narrative text in improving the writing skill. The result of the research showed that tobserved was 13.96 and tcritical was 2.0423. The criteria of test; Ho was accepted if - tcritical ≤ tobserved ≤ tcritical so that it was concluded that null hypothesis (HO) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because the score was – 2.0423 ≤ 13.96 ≥ 2.0423; therefore, there was a significant effect of using Genre-based Approach in teaching writing narrative text and 76% of students writing narrative text using Genre-based Approach was improved
