Teaching listening needs improvement because many students get low scores on the listening test. This condition should be improved by providing a new teaching technique. Students in Mutiara Senior High School have problems in mastering a listening skill. They are difficult to catch the meaning while the listening test is given. The purposes of this study are to find out whether there is a significant increase after being taught by jigsaw technique and which motivation aspects (effort, goal, persistence, and frequency) have the most influence on students' achievement in learning English. This experimental study was measured by pretest and posttest designs. The research subject was class XI of science class in even semester of Mutiara Senior High School in South Lampung. The instrument to measure students' listening achievement was a listening comprehension test which consisted of 30 multiple choices. Another instrument was a close-ended questionnaire with 20 questions to know which motivation aspect had the most influence on students' English achievements. The data were analyzed by using the t-test formula. The computation result showed that t-ratio in the experimental class had a significant increase from pretest (49.13) to posttest (71.45) after being taught by the jigsaw technique. The result of the computation showed that the value of the two-tailed significance was 0.000. Since the sign α (0.000 0.05), the value indicated that the numbers represented the significance. It means that the treatment given had a better effect on students' ability. In addition, it revealed that the most influential motivation aspect was an effort. Therefore, students' personal or group tasks should be supported by giving rewards and punishment to improve students' efforts in learning.

An ionospheric tomography reconstruction using Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (ART) method has been successfully carried out recently. Data utilized on this work was a campaign-based Gnu-Radio Beacon Receiver (GRBR) observation in West Java during 8-10 November 2016 and 25-29 September 2017 data. Grid resolution of the tomography previously had been increased in the in the latitudinal (0.5o horizontal direction) and altitude (~25 km in vertical direction) scales. Although the quality of the tomography has also met a compatibility level through the correlation analysis (e.g. 85% of correlation coefficient), the computation result should be improved in order to get the best value of bias frequency (i.e. < 1 MHz). Through this opportunity, the result of the tomography within the grid resolution of 0.5o and ~25 km for the latitude and altitude respectively is presented.

This paper carried out a hybrid clustering model for foreign exchange market volatility clustering. The proposed model is built using a Gaussian Mixture Model and the inference is done using an Expectation Maximization algorithm. A mono-dimensional kernel density estimator is used in order to build a probability density based on all historical observations. That allows us to evaluate the behavior’s probability of each symbol of interest. The computation result shows that the approach is able to pinpoint risky and safe hours to trade a given currency pair.

It is a common practice to use closed impeller in radial inflow turbine against the flow leakage from tip clearance of impellers, especially in small volume flow condition. It utilizes labyrinths between the shroud and the case to abate the higher pressure leakage. Experimental and computational investigations of shroud clearance flow in a radial inflow turbine with labyrinth seals are presented in this paper. Compared with the result without leakage, numerical computation result including the leakage of labyrinth seals agrees better with that of the experiment result, which indicates that the leakage of labyrinth seals cannot be neglected. Several geometrical arrangements with a series of different clearance of labyrinth seals are investigated experimentally and numerically, and the dimensionless shroud clearance is of 0%, 0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8%, 2.7%, 3.6%. Finally, the character of flow and loss is analyzed by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. The results indicate that the labyrinth seal flow has no effect on the main flow passage and mainly causes different leakage mass flow.

In this paper, in order to obtain the solution for using a handful of casting billets to produce a variety of specifications of products, a compulsory broadsiding method of continuous rough rolling process is used with four horizontal mills and two vertical mills. Due to nonplane deformation in grooves, partition method is used for the rolled piece, which is divided into five zones along the width direction. Mathematical model with five zones are proposed and the final width of plate are obtained by superposition method. In order to obtain the width spread coefficients of each zone as well as parameters optimizing, a numerical simulation method is used to calculate the rolling parameters of compulsory broadsiding of continuous rough rolling process. Computation result from mathematical model indicates that the exit width reaches its maximum value when the angle of chamfer reaches nearly 50°, and the trend of width increasing becomes slow when friction coefficient is larger than 0.4. Practical application shows that the present analytical model can be used to calculate the parameters in compulsory broadsiding rough rolling process easily and quickly, the maximum of width spread can reach 87 mm, and the deviation of the measured width could be controlled to be less than ±3 mm.
