In this increasingly advanced era of globalization, more and more manufacturing and service companies are developing which brings intense competition for companies to be able to maintain the company's establishment. IKM Heppy Bakery is one of the bread production companies that is experiencing this competition. For the realization of companies that can compete in the era of globalization, highly competent resources are also needed. The impact of this competition causes more work demands and causes workload effects both physically and mentally on employee performance. Based on this, a mental workload study was conducted to determine the amount of mental workload of employees using the NASA-TLX method. Based on calculations using the NASA-TLX method, it was found that the level of mental workload on bread packaging at IKM Heppy Bakery was included in the very high category with 4 workers having a very high workload category and there were also 2 workers with a high workload category. The average WWL score on bread packaging is 82. For this condition, it is deemed necessary to have an evaluation accompanied by an improvement in the work system or reward to foster motivation and enthusiasm and reduce stress for Heppy Bakery's bread packaging employees.

Nurse is a profession that has a quite high workload. It can be seen from how often they should encounter situations which compel them to undergo precisely right decision in saving patients’ lives. Various environmental conditions increase the frustration rate of the nurses, such as noise of the crowds and medical equipment, as well as smell of medicines and wounds at once. Moreover, demands from the patients’ family make it even tougher for them. Therefore, this study aims to measure the mental workload of the nurses at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and emergency unit (IGD) in the Hospital ZA based on their years of service. The study was conducted using the method of NASA-TLX (National Aeronautics and Space Administration – Task Load Index). It measured the workload in six dimensions: Mental Demand (MD), Physical Demand (PD), Temporal Demand (TD), Own Performance (P), Effort (EF), and Frustration Rate (FR). The results of the study show that the average value of the nurses’ workload at ICU and IGD is in the category very high (respectively 80 and 83) for the nurses with 0-3 years of service, and the most contributing factor for both the primary groups is the effort (EF).

Abstract Background Fever in infants <90 days old can indicate a serious bacterial infection (SBI) such as urinary tract infection, bacteremia, or meningitis. Clinical management of febrile infants varies widely. Implementing clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) can help standardize care, and electronic clinical decision support (eCDS) tools are a potential means of distributing CPGs. Little is known regarding the individual-level impact of eCDS tool use on medical decision-making. Children’s Mercy Kansas City developed a mobile eCDS tool (CMPeDS: Pediatric Decision Support) that was used internationally in a practice standardization project focused on the management of febrile infants. Methods We conducted a prospective cross-over simulation study amongst pediatric healthcare providers. Attending and resident physicians performed simulated patient scenarios using either CMPeDS or a standard text reference (the Harriet Lane Handbook). Participants’ responses in the simulation were evaluated based on adherence to evidence-based guidelines. Participants’ mental workload was assessed using the NASA Task Load Index survey (NASA-TLX, in which lower scores are optimal) to assesses mental, physical, and temporal demand, as well as performance, effort, and frustration when completing a series of tasks. Paired t-test and ANOVA were used to determine significance for case performance scores and NASA-TLX scores, respectively. A System Usability Scale (SUS) was used to determine usability of the CMPeDS app. Results A total 28 of 32 planned participants have completed trial procedures to date. Mean performance scores on the cases were significantly higher with CMPeDS vs. standard reference, (87.7% vs. 72.4% [t(27) 3.22, P = 0.003]). Participants reported lower scores on the NASA-TLX when using CMPeDS compared with standard reference tool (Figure 1). Mean score on SUS was 88.2 (scale 0–100) indicating excellent tool usability (Figure 2). Conclusion Using the eCDS tool CMPeDS was associated with significantly increased adherence to evidence-based guidelines for febrile infant management and decreased mental workload in simulation. Our findings highlight the potential value of eCDS deployment as part of CPG implementation projects. Disclosures All authors: No reported disclosures.

IntroductionTo evaluate the impact of non-technical skills (NTS) on team performance, workload and clinical outcomes.MethodsThe operating room (OR) environment of 20 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies performed by three different surgeons was recorded. Trained observers assessed NTS utilising the Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) questionnaire. Associations between NOTSS scores, teamwork attributes (anticipation and inconveniences), workload (measured by National Aeronautics and Space Administration-Task Load Index (NASA-TLX)) and clinical outcomes (operative time, blood loss and surgical complexity) were determined using logistic regression and Pearson correlation.Results1780 requests were observed, 703 (39%) were non-verbal. Utilisation of non-verbal requests differed significantly among surgeons (26%, 36% and 44%, p<0.001). Anticipation was significantly associated with ‘Situational Awareness’ (OR 2.59, 95% CI 1.52 to 4.38, p<0.001), ‘Decision Making’ (OR 0.42, 95% CI 0.33 to 0.55, p<0.001) and ‘Communication and Teamwork’ (OR 0.43, 95% CI 0.25 to 0.74, p=0.002) domains. Inconveniences were significantly associated with ‘Situational Awareness’ (OR 0.21, 95% CI 0.08 to 0.59, p=0.003), ‘Decision Making’ (OR 2.73, 95% CI 1.53 to 4.86, p<0.001), and ‘Leadership’ (OR 0.62, 95% CI 0.41 to 0.94, p=0.03). There was a significant positive correlation between NOTSS scores and perceived physical and mental workload measures of NASA-TLX, as well as self-perceived performance. There was no significant association between NOTSS scores and any of the investigated clinical outcomes.ConclusionNTS in the OR were associated with team efficiency, fewer surgical flow disruptions and an improved self-perceived performance.

Development of manufacturing and service institutions can not be separated from the role of human resources. Human resources have an important role in fulfilling vision and mission. University of A is one of the private educational institutions in East Java to achieve the goal must be managed properly that can be utilized optimally, this can be done by analyzing workload and performance or optimizing the number of employees. The purpose this research is measure workload and effect the employee’s performance. Measurement of workload is using National Aeronautics and Space Administration-Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) method, NASA-TLX method is rating multidimentional subjective mental workload  that divides<em> </em>the workload based on the average load of 6 dimensions, and the measurement of performance is using questionnaire with 5 scales by likert scale. The results showed that employees who have Medium workload is 8%, High workload is 84% and Very high workload is 8%. The result of the questionnaire showed the category of employee’s performance, simply performance is 24% and satisfactory performance is 76%. From the statistical test by using <em>Chi Square</em> method, it is known that the value = 5,9915 and = 2,2225, the result shows <strong> &lt; </strong> , then  is accepted and  is rejected. Thus, there is influence between the workload of employees and the employees’s performance.

This study aims to analyze the mental workload with the experimental method when operating a lathe under two different conditions, namely by using cooling and without cooling. The material used as the specimen in this research is AISI 4140 material. Another important variable is the timing of the experiment in the morning and evening. This is related to the division of work shifts that often occurs in the manufacturing industry. The working time factor greatly affects work performance and vigilance at work. Based on the experimental results taken from 20 participants and processed with the NASA-TLX method, it shows that the mental workload in the lathe process with the addition of cooling is more significant than the lathe process without the addition of cooling, even though the data collection time is different. It is also directly proportional to the duration of the lathe process. So it can be concluded that the turning process is better to use cooling even on AISI 4140 Steel material because it does not require a high workload.

Abstract Present article aims to summarize the impact of ‘High-Performance Work-System' (HPWS) on employee performance. The research evaluates and establishes the link between HPWS best practices and corporate performance by investigating the evidence of the effects of these practices on the employee’s overall attitudes on the basis of the concept of ‘Black Box’. Further, the study contributes empirically by providing possible corrective measures and suggestions to the management of the company, which can be adopted to attain the status of a ‘World Class Organization’ by the company. Initially, the skewness and kurtosis tests were performed on the survey data to examine the normality of the data. Basis this, the correlation tests were designed and executed. In the present analysis, the bivariate analysis between the various variables (both independent and dependent) as chosen were performed to explore this inter-relationship. The present research uses “Hierarchal Multiple Linear Regression” (HMLR) analysis to examine the net effect on the employee attitudinal measures due to each bundles of the HPWS best practices as highlighted in nine hypotheses. At the end, summary of the recommendations to the general users has also been listed.
