The management of recreational activities in Natural Protected Areas is complex due to the number of stakeholders that use and manage natural resources, their varying activities, interests and needs. The aim of the study was to analyse the relational dynamics between stakeholders involved in three Socio‑Ecological Units, and their implications in the management of recreational activities in the Nevado de Toluca Flora and Fauna Protected Area, Mexico. From literature review, semi‑structured interviews and application of Social Network Analysis tools, it was identified that not all the stakeholders that should be involved for efficient management of recreational activities are effectively included . Although their main function is the conservation of natural resources, they also assume functions for the management of recreational activities. They present weak ties and lack of consistency in their relationships, due to the absence of institutionalized links and common goals. It is necessary to move towards collaboration networks where stakeholders assume joint responsibilities and actions for the planning and management of recreational activities.

ABSTRACTThis paper presents the main results of an investigation whose purpose is to investigate the adoption of on-line social networks in SMEs run by women. The base assumption is that the use of networks as a strategic communication element is still at an early stage of development, far from being an established practice. Our interest in this study is to determine the willingness and motivations of entrepreneurs in using these networks, as well as utilities and difficulties they have faced. Our goal is to visualize the change of attitude and competences that entrepreneurs are imprinting on their businesses within the competitive environment they operate in. Ultimately, we are interested in studying the perception of women-entrepreneurs regarding the adoption of online social networks to the extent where they are, as an additional management tool. We find ourselves facing a new field of knowledge on which there are very few references and very little research has been carried. Hence, this study has a primarily qualitative and exploratory purpose. To obtain the needed information we held semi-structured interviews to fourteen Andalusian entrepreneurs, coming from different business fields. The main findings were that just less than a half of them used them, or implemented them in their companies, as communication tools. The others, depending on to the size of their business, adopted them as an extension of the personal use in which they had been started.RESUMENEste trabajo presenta los principales resultados de una investigación cuya finalidad es conocer la adopción de las redes sociales on-line en las pymes dirigidas por mujeres.

Whilst much research has been conducted into the efficacy of and guidelines for technical interventions in the treatment of abuse, it is argued that a relational or process approach to therapeutic work should become more integrated into the use of technical interventions to aid therapeutic outcome. The study aims to explore counselling psychologists’ experiences when working with clients who have experienced abuse. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Six participants were recruited and asked to share their experiences of their therapeutic work with the client group. The research was given ethical approval by the ethics committee of the university. Three superordinate themes emerged from the data: ‘The Holding Environment’, ‘The Personal versus The Professional’ and ‘Internal Responses, External Communications’. These were supported by various subthemes within the accounts and were generated as a result of a double hermeneutic engagement with each interview transcript. This research contributes towards a deeper understanding of the processes involved in creating a therapeutic space for the work and the relational dynamics involved in providing therapy to clients who have experienced abuse. The dynamic process between empathising and ‘detaching’ in session, as well as counselling psychologists’ use of supervision, are highlighted as areas for further study.

A review on the evaluation research of protected marine areas in Mexico Evaluation Research (ER) has its origins in the XVII century but emerges as a formal discipline in 1970. ER consists on the application of techniques used in social sciences to evaluate specific human activities. The ER design may be experimental, quasi experimental or non-experimental and must contain at least 10 basic points where the planning and evaluation are particularly important. In Mexico there have been efforts to evaluate the programs of social development since 1917. Currently, this task is performed by the National Council for Social Policy Evaluation and the assessment of all social programs is compulsory. Regarding to the administration of natural resources, ER is essential; however, papers published on the subject are scarce. In order to improve the management of the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and to assess the level on which the goals and objectives has been reached (Adaptive Management) the ER is applied to evaluate the implementation of MPAs using different methodologies. In Mexico, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas is in charge of the evaluation of the MPAs; however, the methods used have proven little effective and lack of technical capacity. In the MPAs to do such assessments it is necessary to reinforce the evaluation capacity within the administration of MPA supported by civil organizations and academy. Proper assessment of MPAs in Mexico will allow the practice of a true adaptive management, to meet the implementation objectives and, above all, a clear accountability to the society on the effectiveness of MPA as a tool for natural resources management.

Geopark as a conservation area has a potential for biodiversity, geological diversity, and culture. This diversity of potential is developed as an integral part of the Geotourism area. This research was conducted in the Gunung Batur conservation area and the purpose of this study was to determine the role of guides through the delivery of information provided to tourists to contribute to the protection of the Batur geopark conservation area as sustainable tourism. The role of the guide was identified through the perception of tourists by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents. The results of the study state that there are two variables, namely the communicator mediator and the Research management role of environmental interpreter in the category "Simply Agree". The sub-indicators of the variable are "Explain potential (geology) as the main potential of the conservation area" with a score of 52.8 percent; "Explain the activities of local communities in the conservation area" with a score of 59.4 percent; "Describe natural resources, vegetation and habitat at the climbing location" with a score of 50 percent. The three sub-indicators are indicators that are the main function of the role of guides in the conservation area, but this sub-indicator gets the lowest percentage, therefore it is interpreted that the role of guides in the Batur Kintamani Geopark conservation area still needs improvement in interpreting information related to socio-cultural potential , as well as geology as a potential for conservation, and natural resources.

A significant part of the Sochi resort region is included into the unique natural protected areas, such as the Caucasus biosphere reserve and Sochi National Park. Development of the regional economy is largely dependent on the natural geo/bio/cenoses management effectiveness on the protected territories. Monitoring of the water resources status and their management is of the particular importance, since the biodiversity of the aquatic environment and the terrestrial flora and fauna of the area dependent on these factors, as well as ensuring the citizen’s requirements and rights. However, presently no one of the existing water environment state assessment methods is able to account various and complex natural communities’ responses to different stress factors and their combined impact. The article presents the world experience on concept of the Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) application and development of the some aspect of the comprehensive natural resources regulation methodology. The authors believe that some elements of environmental management practiced in national parks and reserves of the republic of South Africa can be applicable in development of a system that provides consistent monitoring of environmental quality, the mastering of a sufficient and user-friendly database, based on a set of measures for the conservation and restoration of natural resources One of the most significant watercourses of the protected nature territories of the South of Russia, the Mzymta River has been used as a study case

Much of our information and knowledge today is derived from popular culture, including the use of medicines to treat diseases that affect humankind. Ethnopharmacological research allows the knowledge of traditional communities to contribute to scientific studies and vice versa, since it involves not only botanical and pharmaceutical knowledge but also anthropology aspects. Throughout the Ceará Cariri region, the use of natural resources in traditional healing methods is very evident. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the popular knowledge about the therapeutic use of natural resources by faith healers in Colina do Horto in Juazeiro do Norte, CE, Brazil. Informants who were self-proclaimed prayer people and faith healers, of both sexes, were subjected to semi-structured interviews consisting of guiding questions, which allowed us to achieve the proposed objectives. The data collected were related to the origin of the resources used in magical-religious procedures, part used, method of preparation, required amount, indications for use and contraindications. Analysis of data allowed the tabulation of the species so as to correlate all the variables studied. In addition, informant consensus factor and relative importance were determined. The informants had an average age of 66 years, and the majority were elderly, illiterate and female. Among the six species used in the healing procedures, the most prevalent was Jatropha gossypiifolia. Of the 53 species cited as complementary for healing, those especially used belonged to the families Lamiaceae and Asteraceae.

In the framework of the community participation in conservation in Rwanda, a women handcraft cooperative was established in 2011 in the surrounding of Nyungwe National Park in Kitabi sector and Nyamagabe District. It aimed to empower economically and socially wives of former hunters who were themselves relying on natural resources and involved in harvesting different resources in park for making handcraft products. The empowerment was intended to reduce the reliance to natural resources and to contribute to the protection of the park. The objective of the study was to investigate and examine women’s experiences about their empowerment through environmental justice, in terms of distributive and procedural justice and challenges faced by women. In doing so, participants were purposively selected in women handicraft cooperative and in administration bodies. With regards to data collection and analysis, semi-structured interviews and content analysis were used. The findings showed that women are socially and economically empowered. In terms of economic empowerment, access to financial loans, savings, employment and income generating projects are the major indicators of the empowerment. Improved capacity building and family relations are major concerns of social handcraft cooperative members. Regarding the participation of women in decision-making process, the findings are controversial. However, it is still limited because of the dominance of top-down approach that does not consider enough women’s voices and suggestions in decision making.  Cooperative women members perceive and consider the process of communication and decision-making as passive because they are almost absent in the monitoring and evaluation processes. The participation of the community members including women only appears through meetings with or without elected representatives. The process of women empowerment is still limited by some challenges such as crop raiding, complicated and slow compensation process, high interest rate and slow process of loan and inadequate communication. The partnership approach is then recommended so as to consider women’s needs and voices in the implementation of natural resources conservation policies.

Utilizing Qualitative Description influenced by aspects of phenomenology, we conducted fifteen open-ended, semi-structured interviews with former contestants of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.” The purpose of the study was to explore experiences of significant weight loss. We focused on challenges, emotional well-being, and relational dynamics of contestants transitioning through their weight loss journeys, which included what happened after the show was completed. Further, we analyzed perspectives regarding the utility of Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) in working with this population. In the study, three themes emerged which included: (1) Living at the ranch: It’s reality TV, not reality; (2) After the confetti falls: Post-Traumatic Reality TV Syndrome and The Whiplash Effect; and (3) Therapeutic treatment: Much needed but nowhere to be found. The study includes a rich description of the data, as well as a discussion of clinical implications.
