Aim: To measure the level of self esteem among the students of saveetha dental college. Objective: To measure the level of self esteem of an individual’s by inventory. Background: Self-esteem can apply specifically to particular dimension (for example: “I believe I am a good writer and feel happy about that”) or a global extent (for example, “I believe sociology and psychology, self esteem reflects a person’s overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. In psychological literature the concept of self viewed in two ways. One in what is called the self as object. It refers to our capacity to stand outside of ourselves and to evaluate our attitude, feelings and behavior from a more or less detached point of view. Interest in the self humanity. It includes an active group of processes like thinking, remembering, perceiving, performing etc. Reason: This study is conducted to improve our aspiration towards self esteem and self worth which are considered to be the cornerstone of personality that influences the behavior of every individuals.

SelfEsteemis a central construct in clinical, developmental, personality, and social psychology.Self Esteem can be defined as an individuals judgment of his or her self-worth (Rosenberg 1965). Self Esteem is generally considered the evaluative component of the self-concept, a broader representation of the self that includes cognitive and behavioral aspects as well as evaluative or affective ones (Tomaka&Blascovich, 1991). Self Esteem creates self-image (Judy and Arin 2004). People with high self esteem take risks more easily than those with low self Esteem. Self Esteem, that is contingent on success and competence, triggers fundamentally different habitual thought and behavior patterns than contingent self Esteem, that involves seeking compensation from emotional support and acceptance. These behaviors and attitudes have in recent studies been linked to distinctive patterns of coping with social threats and differential health outcomes.It is an extremely popular construct within psychology, and has been related to virtually every other psychological concept or domain, including personality, behavioral, cognitive, and clinical concepts. It can influence life in myriad ways, from academic and professional success to relationships and mental health. On the above criteria in mind the researcher desired using mean, standard deviation t test to study the difference between the mean scores of male and female, Private and Government job holders children, age of students, type of family and finally the standard of students in their self-esteem of secondary school Tharu children of West Champaran . The result declared that there is no significant difference between the mean scores of male and female,Private and government Job holders children, single and nuclear family, whereas there is a significant difference between the mean scores of less than 14 and above 14 years and IXth and Xth Standard secondary school Tharu students in their self-esteem.

An essential component of youths’ successful development is learning to appropriately respond to emotions, including the ability to recognize, identify and describe one’s feelings. Emotional competence refers to one’s ability to express or release one’s inner feelings or emotions. Self-esteem reflects a person’s overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. General well being refers to the harmonious functioning of the physical as well as psychological aspects of the personality, giving satisfaction to the self and benefit to the society. The present study focuses on the self esteem and general well being in adolescents with low vs high emotional competence. For this purpose, first of all emotional competence scale was administered on 260 adolescents within the age range of 15-18 years, to identify the low emotionally competent and high emotionally competent adolescents. After the sample selection of 152 subjects (76 low emotionally competent and 76 high emotionally competent) Rosenberg’s Self-esteem scale and General well being scale were administered. Results indicate that high emotionally competent adolescents have high self-esteem and better general well being than low emotionally competent adolescents.

The model of learned helplessness is reviewed and related to New Testament Pauline writings. It is suggested that Paul did experience the perception of helplessness, yet did not experience the deficits which often accompany helplessness. The lack of such deficits can be explained, in terms of a reformulated model of learned helplessness, by considering the self-attributional statements exhibited in Paul's writings. Despite Paul's realistic appraisal of his helplessness, his self-worth was not threatened –- he was complete although inadequate. It is suggested that an overemphasis on the doctrine of inadequacy may lead to self-esteem deficits among evangelicals.

Women are considered as a medium to provide microcredit in Bangladesh, who are at the same time culturally less recognized, face social obstacles and economically more vulnerable. However, many researches indicated that the status and power of women has much improved since Grameen Bank opened its doors forty years ago. Despite some critics, majority of the scholars reached to the conclusion that microcredit loans encouraged poor women and significantly increased their self-esteem and self-worth, and thereby empowered them. This study evaluates the effects of microcredit on women empowerment at Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh. The data was collected by using a structured questionnaire. A total 60 sample respondents were selected purposively. Empowerment was measured by five domains (production, resources, income, leadership and time). The score was positive as maximum of them achieved the desired score. The results showed that most of the females who availed the facility of microcredit finally got socioeconomic empowerment through acquiring the self-esteem, confidence level, decision making power, etc., but the question is: is it the same voice that the researchers and the researched people speak? The findings showed that microcredit might play significant impact on the uplift of socio-economic empowerment of the borrowers but we must be careful before reaching to the conclusion. In the last few decades, the manner in which western society deals with death has changed under the influence of individualization processes. In this paper, directions of emerging opportunities for new products or services are pointed out that respond to this development. For this purpose, five types of heuristic information are provided and analyzed. First, background information about the market. Second, an analysis of consumer wants, problems, and behavior. Third, an analysis of the change factor that explains how wants of consumer are becoming different. Fourth, a description of innovations that already try to meet these changed wants. Fifth, conceptualizations of the market that define the market in a reframed manner. The paper concludes that the centrality of the self (and its cessation by death), the importance of expression of one's authentic personality, the diminished authority of traditional frameworks that explain death, and a want for self-esteem in response to mortality salience all give rise to opportunities for new products and services in response to individualizing manners of dealing with death.

The aim in this study was to examine whether contingency of domain self-esteem moderates the effect of domain self-esteem on global self-esteem. Chinese university students (N = 320) completed the Contingencies of Self-worth Scale and the Self-worth Questionnaire (both by Yang, Hu, Pang, & Wang, 2007) and the Chinese version (Robinson, Shaver, & Wrightsman, 1997) of the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965). Results indicated that in domains that the individual could control, such as ability or behavior style, domain self-esteem directly influenced global self-esteem; in domains that the individual could not control, such as appearance and nationality, contingency of domain self-esteem moderated the effect of domain self-esteem on global self-esteem. Cultural differences in contingencies of domain self-esteem are also discussed.

This study aimed to identify the self-worth and its relationship to motivation to work from the public secondary school teachers’ point of view in Irbid governorate in Jordan. Descriptive relational approach was used. Two scales were used, namely: the self-worth scale and the motivation towards work scale. The two scales were applied to a stratified random sample of (352) male and female teachers in public secondary schools in Irbid governorate, of the first semester (2019-2020). The results showed that the level of self-worth among public secondary school teachers in the governorate of Irbid obtained an overall average (3.98 out of 5), as a rating (high). Furthermore, the level of motivation towards work obtained an overall average (3.72 out of 5), as a rating (high), and at the level of the fields the reasons for motivation related to the teacher got the highest average (3.76), followed by the reasons related to the work environment with an average (3.71) and finally the reasons for society with an average (3.69), all of them with a (high) rating. The results also showed a positive correlation between self-worth and motivation to work among public secondary school teachers in Irbid governorate, which reached (0.62), which is a (medium) relationship and based on the results, a set of recommendations have been proposed, including the need to develop new and innovative mechanisms and methods that work to raise the self-worth of teachers, in a way that improves their performance and increases their motivation towards work.

Self-esteem is an individual's assessment of their own self, self worth, whether it’s positive or negative. The assessment is the result of individual interaction with their environment, the other people recognition and personal experiences. While self-acceptance is a positive attitude towards one's own characteristics, either being satisfied with their strength and recognize their limitations in living life. The purposeof this study was to determine the effect of self-esteem on self-acceptance of late adolescents at the Sonaf Maneka Orphanage, Lasiana Village, Kupang. This study used quantitative approach. This study used total population sampling technique with total were 48 adolescent aged from 15-20 years old. Data collection used self-esteem scale adapted from Resty (2015) and self-acceptance scale develop by researcher based onHurlock’s theory (Noviani, 2016). Hypothesis testing uses a simple linear regression test. The results of the study show that self-esteem have significant positive effect on self-acceptance with a value of p (0.000) <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the self-esteem variable can predict the self-acceptance variable. Effective contribution of self-esteem variable to self-acceptance variable is 33.6%.

Decision refers to the act of choosing the most appropriate type of action possible according to present possibilities and conditions in order to achieve an aim. Decision making covers all cognitive and behavioral effort for choosing and preferring in the face of various situations and events. Starting from this point of view, in our study, it was aimed to investigate prospective kickboxing students’ self-esteem in decision making and decision making styles.The study included 62 voluntary prospective coaches, who participated in a kickboxing coaching in the city center of Elazığ in 2017. In order to obtain personal information from the participant prospective coaches in the study, a personal information form (age, gender, years of doing sports) was formed. In order to investigate the self-esteem in decision making and decision making styles of prospective kickboxing coaches, the Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire, which was originally developed by Mann et al., (1998) and adapted into Turkish by Deniz (2004), was utilized. The obtained data were evaluated by using SPSS statistics package software and the level of significance was regarded as p<0.05.As a result of the study, according to participants’ variables of age, gender and years of doing sports, the comparison of prospective teachers’ decision making and decision making style mean scores did not constitute a statistically significant difference. The self-esteem levels of coaches in decision making were observed to be significantly high.
