SelfEsteemis a central construct in clinical, developmental, personality, and social psychology.Self Esteem can be defined as an individuals judgment of his or her self-worth (Rosenberg 1965). Self Esteem is generally considered the evaluative component of the self-concept, a broader representation of the self that includes cognitive and behavioral aspects as well as evaluative or affective ones (Tomaka&Blascovich, 1991). Self Esteem creates self-image (Judy and Arin 2004). People with high self esteem take risks more easily than those with low self Esteem. Self Esteem, that is contingent on success and competence, triggers fundamentally different habitual thought and behavior patterns than contingent self Esteem, that involves seeking compensation from emotional support and acceptance. These behaviors and attitudes have in recent studies been linked to distinctive patterns of coping with social threats and differential health outcomes.It is an extremely popular construct within psychology, and has been related to virtually every other psychological concept or domain, including personality, behavioral, cognitive, and clinical concepts. It can influence life in myriad ways, from academic and professional success to relationships and mental health. On the above criteria in mind the researcher desired using mean, standard deviation t test to study the difference between the mean scores of male and female, Private and Government job holders children, age of students, type of family and finally the standard of students in their self-esteem of secondary school Tharu children of West Champaran . The result declared that there is no significant difference between the mean scores of male and female,Private and government Job holders children, single and nuclear family, whereas there is a significant difference between the mean scores of less than 14 and above 14 years and IXth and Xth Standard secondary school Tharu students in their self-esteem.

The present study is a modest effort to compare male and female secondary school on various components of Mental Health. Translated English version of Mental Health Battery from Hindi version by A.K Singh and Alpana Sen Gupta consisting of six dimensions (130 items) were administered to measure the mental health status. Academic achievement of male and female students of previous two years was collected from the official records of their respective schools. No significant difference was found between male and female students on general intelligence. The mean difference favoured private students but the difference failed to arrive at any level of confidence. It has been found that both the male and female students displayed somewhat similar intelligence. It has been found that male and female students differ significantly on overall dimensions of mental health battery. The private students were found to have better mental health than government students.

The aim of the research is to investigate that emotional intelligence and self-esteem in male and female school students. The present research design is research cross sectional design.  Sample contained 200 students (100 =male, 100= female)   (mean age = 14.16, SD = 0.740) all belonging to the upper, middle and lower Scio economic status. Whole sample was collected from different schools of Karachi, Pakistan with the help of convenient sampling technique. First, the confidentiality about the participants demographic information was assured after that about the purpose and procedure of research explained to participants. The participants who given consent of participation in research, the demographic form, Urdu version of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), and Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) (K.V. Petrides) were administered on them. Statistical Analysis (t-Test for independent) applied to assess the difference of emotional intelligence and self esteem among male and female.The results reveals there is significant difference among emotional intelligence of male and female school students (t (198) = 6.597, P< .05) and there is also significant difference in self esteem of male and female school students (t (198) = 2.837, P< .05).

The study examined the effects of outdoor science activities on student’s academic achievement and retention in science in Delta South Senatorial District. The quasi-experimental design was used specifically, the non-equivalent pre-test, post-test control group design. Four research questions and hypotheses were raised and formulated to guide the study. The population consists of all senior secondary school two (SSII) science students in all the Government-owned public schools in the Senatorial District with an estimation of fifteen thousand, two hundred and seventy-five students (15,275). A sample of two hundred and fifty (250) SSII science student’s randomly selected from four (4) public mixed secondary schools in the Senatorial District was used for the study. The instrument used for data collection was the Science Achievement Test (SAT) which was validated by experts in the field of Science, Measurement and Evaluation. The reliability of the instrument was established using Kuder-Richardson formula 21 which yielded coefficient of internal consistency of 0.82. Data were collected by administering the Science Achievement Test (SAT) as a pre-test. Post-test and post-post-test (follow up test). The data obtained were analysed using mean, standard deviation, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results showed that there was a significant difference in the mean achievement and retention scores between students taught using outdoor science activities and those taught without outdoor science activities. There was no significant difference in the mean achievement scores between male and female students taught science with outdoor science activities and there was a significant difference in the mean retention scores between male and female students taught science with outdoor science activities in favour of male students. Based on the findings, it was concluded that outdoor science activities may be an option in promoting students’ academic achievement and retention in science students. Based on this, it was recommended that science teachers should adopt outdoor science activities in teaching science at the secondary school levels and that Government should provide an essential outdoor learning environment in schools to facilitate outdoor science activities.

The present research work aimed at finding out the difference between secondary and higher secondary school teachers on Self-esteem. For this purpose a total sample of 240 school teachers. Among them 120 secondary and 120 higher secondary school teachers. Data was collected by using Self-esteem scale developed by “Roseberry,(1965)”. Results were analyzed by using F- Anova. Results revealed that there is no significant difference between secondary and higher secondary school teachers on Self-esteem.

In such stable and sustainable situation one can develop with individuals possessing the best mental and moral qualities. As a result, education enables an individual to face all kinds of challenges in life.The main purpose of the study was to investigate the playingof Player Unknowns Battle Grounds(PubG)of Secondary school students. The objectives of the study wereto study playing of PubG of Secondary school students on the basis of gender, standard of the students, boards of study, type of school and medium of study of secondary school students. The researcher employed survey method by executing Self-constructed and validated tool on 135secondary school students ofPatna in Bihar to assess the objectives of the study.The scholar used mean, Median, S.D. and t testfor the calculation of the collected data. The result revealed that there is no significant difference between the mean scores of male and female, IX and X standard students, CBSE and ICSE students intheir playing of PubG of Secondary School students whereas there is a significant difference between the mean scores of ICSE and BSEB, CBSE and BSEB, Private and Government,English and Hindi mediumsecondary school students in their playing of PubG.

In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to study and compare the Professional Commitment of secondary school teachers, to study and compare the Self-efficacy of secondary school teachers and to find out the relationship between Professional Commitment and Self-efficacy of secondary school teachers. A sample of 100 teacher educators working in government schools of district Ganderbal was selected through Purposive sampling technique. Professional Commitment Scale for teacher educators by Sood (2011) and Teacher Self-efficacy scale by Ralf Schwarzer, Gerdamarie S.Schmitz and Gary T. Dayter (1999) were used for data collection. Mean, SD and t-test were used to compare the professional commitment of male and female secondary school teachers and to compare self-efficacy of male and female secondary school teachers. Pearson’s correlation was applied to find out the relationship between Professional Commitment and Self-efficacy of secondary school teachers. The findings of the study revealed that female secondary school teachers have higher professional commitment as compare as to male secondary school teachers. No significant difference was found in the Self-efficacy of secondary school teachers and significant positive correlation was found between Professional Commitment and Self-efficacy of secondary school teachers.

Study on the Thicknesses and the Girths of Tendoachilles of Human Cadavers. Background: Tendoachilles is the chief planter flexor of the ankle joint. It provides elastic energy storage in walking and running. The present study was planned to collect data to find out possible variations of thickness and girth between right and left leg of both male and female. Materials and methods: A cross sectional analytical type of study was conducted in the department of Anatomy, Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka, from July 2013 to June 2014. The data was collected from both right and left tendoachilles of 60 human cadaver taken from Anatomy Department of different Government and Nongovernment Medical Colleges in Dhaka city. After dissection thickness and girth of tendoachilles was measured and recorded. Results: Among 60 human cadaver, 30 are male and 30 are female. The mean thickness of tendoachilles was greater in right leg than in left leg at its junction with gastrocnemius in male, (P<0.001) at the level of 4 cm above its junction with calcaneus and at the level of its junction with calcaneus in both male and female. No significant difference was observed in the measurement of thickness of right and left tendoachilles at the level of its junction with gastrocnemius in female. Mean girth of tendoachilles was greater in right leg than in left leg at its junction with gastrocnemius, at the level of 4 cm above its junction with calcaneus and at the level of its junction with calcaneus in both male and female. Conclusions: The present study revealed that thickness and girth of tendoachilles was greater in right leg than in left leg which were statistically significant. The difference in thickness and girth can be useful during repair of rupture tendon by orthopaedic and plastic surgeon. J Shaheed Suhrawardy Med Coll, December 2019, Vol.11(2); 124-129

The purpose was to investigate the effects of parental marital status and sex on the self-esteem of children by assessing differences on mean self-esteem between boys and girls of divorced families as compared to boys and girls of intact families. The mean score on self-esteem of 54 children (27 boys, 27 girls) from divorced families was compared to that for 54 children (27 boys, 27 girls) from intact families using the Culture-free Self-esteem Inventory. Using factorial analysis, a statistically significant difference was found for sex but not for type of family or its interaction with sex.

An individual's personality is an aggregate conglomeration of the decisions they have made throughout their life and the memory of the experiences to which these decisions led. There are inherent natural, genetic, and environmental factors that contribute to the development of our personality. Academic achievement has been the criterion for judging the individual's right from the start of formal education. If the goal of education is enhancing academic achievement of the individual, then researchers will have empirically to find answers to various questions related to achievement. The objective of the study were : to study the difference in the mean score of personality on the basis of Gender, to study the difference in the mean score of personality on the basis of their Educational Qualification., to study the difference in the mean score of academic achievement on the basis of Gender and to study the difference in the mean score of academic achievement on the basis of their Educational Qualification. Self constructed and validated tool on Personality test and academic achievement were employed. The findings were : there is no significant difference between male and female in their openness, Conscientiousness, extra version, agreeableness, neuroticism and personality development, there is no significant difference between graduate and post graduate in their openness, Conscientiousness, Extra version, Agreeableness, Neuroticism and personality development, there is a significant difference between male and female in quality of institutional delivery, institutional facility, quality of course content, mode of evaluation and their academic achievement and there is no significant difference between graduate and post graduate in their staff, quality of institutional delivery, entry requirement, institutional facility, quality of course content, mode of evaluation and academic achievement.

The aim of this study is to find out the Emotional Maturity and Achievement in Economics of higher secondary students in Tirunelveli District. 1060 Higher secondary students were taken as sample. The tool used to find out the Emotional Maturity is constructed and standardized by Emotional Maturity Scale Constructed and Validated by K.M.Roma Pal (1984). The Academic achievement in Economics was found out using the tool constructed by the investigator. The mean value of Emotional Maturity scores (136.53) indicates that the higher secondary students are having extremely unstable Emotional Maturity, The mean value of Achievement in Economics scores (M=75.47) indicates that the higher secondary students are having high Achievement in Economics. There is significant difference between male and female, Day scholar and Hostel staying Higher Secondary students with respect to their Emotional Maturity. There is no significant difference between rural and urban, Government and Aided Higher Secondary school students with respect to their Emotional Maturity. There is significant difference between male and female Higher Secondary students with respect to their Achievement in Economics. There is no significant difference between rural and urban, Day scholar and Hostel staying, Government and Aided Higher Secondary school students with respect to their Achievement in Economics.
