The topic of metamemory had attracted the attention of many researchers and scholars in the field of educational and cognitive psychology, especially how individuals become aware of and control their memory functions. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to build a psychometric scale/questionnaire for measuring metamemory. The study was conducted among a sample of 200 students joining Sharia/Islamic Law, Arabic Language, Education, English Language, Science, Economics and Management at Al Qassim University. For the purpose of the content validity of the scale, it was verified by the raters’ agreement and the internal consistency of the items of the scale. Pearson correlation coefficient was also used to calculate correlation coefficients between the scores of each item and its dimension to ensure consistency and homogeneity of the items and dimensions of the scale. The correlation coefficients of the items of the scale and the total score of the dimension to which the items belong were all positive correlation coefficients and statistically significant at the level of 0.01, which confirms the consistency and homogeneity of the items of each dimension. The homogeneity of the dimensions of the scale was also verified by calculating Pearson correlation coefficients between the score of each dimension and the overall score of the scale. The reliability of the scale and its sub- dimensions was verified using the α- Cronbach Alpha coefficient. The results showed that the scale and its sub- dimensions had high and statistically acceptable validity and reliability coefficients. Such result indicates that the scale is statistically valid and reliable.

This study aimed at developing a valid culture-sensitive quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) for Qatari adults. A convenient sample of healthy Qataris (n = 107) were recruited from family members of Qatar University students. The Diet History Questionnaire II of the US National Cancer Institute was translated to Arabic language, back-translated to English, pilot tested, and then modified accordingly to be used in Qatari setting. Participants were asked to complete the translated version of the FFQ. This FFQ was then validated against three 24 h diet recall (24 hDR) including a weekend day. Participants were asked to complete the FFQ again after one-month period to measure its repeatability. Dietary data were analyzed using the dietary analysis software ESHA. The validity and reliability of FFQ were assessed by comparing the median intake of nutrients and foods and by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficients. The median nutrient intakes assessed by the second FFQ were higher than that reported in the baseline FFQ1 except for fat. The percentage of increase varies between 1.5% and 96%. Results of the second FFQ indicated an overestimation of intake for most nutrients (macro and micro). Macronutrient intakes assessed by the two FFQ and 24 hDR were strongly correlated. The correlation coefficients for micronutrient intakes between FFQ2 and 24hDR were lower than that of the two FFQs except for calcium (r = 0.55) and sodium (r = 0.643). They ranged from (−0.17) for fluorine to (0.643) for sodium. The agreement rates for classifying macronutrient intakes into same or adjacent quartile were between 79.4% and 100% for the two FFQs and between 71% and 100% for the second FFQ and 24hDR. The reported consumption of food groups estimated by FFQ2 was significantly higher than that reported by FFQ1. In conclusion, the developed FFQ was sufficiently valid to assess energy and macronutrients but not micronutrients. The reliability was adequate for most nutrients.

Objective: To investigate the validity and reliability of a Chinese version of Spinal Cord Independence Measure III (SCIM III) in individuals with spinal cord injury. Design: Study on psychometric properties. Setting: An inpatient rehabilitation facility in China. Subjects: 102 participants with spinal cord injury. Mean (SD) age was 48.8 (15.6) years; tetraplegia/paraplegia ratio was 50/52; median time post injury was 2 months. Intervention: SCIM III was translated into Chinese. Chinese versions of Barthel Index and SCIM III were filled out for each participant by Rater 1. SCIM III was then administered by Rater 2 after 24 hours ( n = 67) and 7 days ( n = 65). Main Measures: Validity, inter-rater/test-retest reliability, and internal consistency of the Chinese version of SCIM III. Results: The total scores between the two raters were similar (mean ± SD: 33.8 ± 25.8 vs 33.8 ± 25.5, P = 0.95). Total agreement between the raters in each item was >80%, with both Pearson and intraclass correlation coefficients >0.97 ( P < 0.01) for each subscale and total score. The Pearson correlation coefficients of the two independent assessments performed by Rater 2 were also >0.97 ( P < 0.01) for each subscale and the total score. Cronbach α was >0.7 for each subscale and the total score for both raters. High consistency was found between Barthel Index and SCIM III total scores (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.88, P < 0.01). Conclusion: The Chinese version of SCIM III is valid and reliable for the functional assessment of patients with SCI.

Abstract Background Anxiety among women in the perinatal period is common. Assessing the severity of perinatal anxiety will help monitor the progress of the patient through the stages of anxiety and facilitated the treatment. This study assesses the validity and reliability of the “Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale” (PASS) in the Arabic language. Methods The PASS was translated into Arabic. Two hundred seventeen women in the antenatal and postnatal phase participated (92 antenatal and 125 postnatal) answered to PASS, GHQ12, EPDS-10, and DASS-21. Content validity, factor analysis, internal consistency, and test retest reliability were assessed. Results Content Validity Index (CVI) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR) were .88 and 0.79; respectively. The scale loaded on four components: acute anxiety, social anxiety, and dissociation; specific fears and trauma; general anxiety and adjustment; and perfectionism and control. Cronbach’s Alpha value for the scale was 0.78 and test retest correlation coefficient was 0.94. PASS significantly correlated with EPDS-10 (rho=0.46), GHQ-12(rho=0.58), the three components of DASS-21 (0.47, 0.50, and 0.43; respectively), and experiencing adverse life events. Conclusion The Arabic translated version of the PASS showed reasonably adequate validity and reliability and can be used to screen for anxiety disorder among women in the perinatal phase.

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the students of Gazi University Gazi Education Faculty towards Scientific Research Methods (SRM) course. The survey model was used in this descriptive study. In the study, 20-item 'Attitude Scale towards Scientific Research Methods Course' developed by Yaşar (2014) was used. The study population consisted of 308 pre-service teachers attending the German Language Education, Arabic Language Education, French Language Education, English Language Education, Philosophy Group Education, department of primary education and Preschool Teacher Education Departments at Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education in the spring term of 2017-2018 academic year. As a result of the research, it is difficult to say that the pre-service teachers have positive attitudes at the desired level towards the SRM course. It was determined that the pre-service teachers of the Philosophy Group had more positive attitudes towards the SRM course than the pre-service teachers of the other departments.

The research aims at identifying the effect of the Fink model in the achievement of the psychology principles of the fifth grade students and their mental motivation. The experimental design of the experimental and control groups was used. The researcher randomly selected Division B to represent the experimental group that is taught according to the Fink model, (A) The control group studying the traditional method, the number of female students (60) students by (30) students in each division. The two groups were equalized in the variables: age, intelligence, mental motivation. The researcher prepared the research tool which is the achievement test and verified the validity and reliability of the test, the adoption of the mental motivation scale and the testing of the psychometric characteristics. The researcher used the T-test for two independent data processing , The results showed the superiority of the experimental group in achievement and mental motivation via the control group

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of diorama media and whether there is a significant difference in improving the learning outcomes of Arabic language in terms of the reading skills of class VII students of MTsN Yogakarta I. The test of the instrument using the validity and reliability test showed that 25 test questions all proved valid and reliable with a reliability coefficient of 0.957 for multiple choice and 0.978 for essay. Before the data were analyzed, the data should be tested by kolmogorov smirnov test and Varian analysis test (ANOVA) to know that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Furthermore, the data were tested with "t" test with paired-samples T test to know the significance of pre-test and post-test of the experiment and control classes and to know the effect or influence of diorama media in improving the learning result of Arabic especially on reading skill of class VII students of MTsN Yogyakarta I academic year 2014/2015. The calculation results show that the significance of 0.000 is less than 0.05 so it is stated as significant. The results show that learning Arabic with diorama media is more effective than book media in helping to improve learning result of Arabic language in terms of reading skill of students of class VII MTsN Yogyakarta I academic year 2014/2015 and there is a significant difference between reading by using diorama media and by reading without diorama media.

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using inquiry and brainstorming strategies in teaching Arabic language for developing achievement and creative thinking skills of the university students. To achieve the previous objective, a teaching manual was prepared using inquiry and brainstorming strategies. Achievement test was prepared including 20 items multiple chooses questions related to knowledge, application and reasoning levels. In addition, creative thinking skills test was prepared including 10 items related to Fluency, flexibility and originality skills. The validity and reliability of the instruments were measured. The sample was selected randomly; it consists of two groups, experimental group 43 and a control group 39. The study was based on semi-experimental design pre&mdash;post-test, where the experimental group was taught using inquiry and brainstorming strategies, but the control group was taught using the usual strategies. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in the post achievement and creative thinking skills in general and their skills separately for the students of the experimental group. Also, the results showed a positive correlation between the scores of the experimental group in post creative thinking skills, and post achievement test in general. The effectiveness of inquiry and brainstorming strategies in the development of achievement levels and creative thinking skills was significant effect. The study recommended using the Inquiry and brainstorming strategies in the teaching Arabic language of university students.

ObjectiveTo compare simulated driving reaction time (RT) between concussed and control individuals and examine Driving-RTs relationship with computerized neurocognitive testing RT (CNT-RT).BackgroundConcussed patients have impaired RT and neurocognition following injury that may linger and impair driving performance. Limited research has used direct methods to assess driving-RT post-concussion.Design/MethodsWe employed a cross-sectional laboratory study among 14 concussed and 14 healthy age, sex, and driving experience-matched controls (female: 60%; Age: 20.3 ± 1.1 years). Participants completed driving-RT and CNT-RT (CNS Vital Signs) within 48 hours of asymptomatic (15.9 ± 9.8 days post-concussion). Driving-RT consisted of two simulated driving scenarios: Stoplight (green to yellow stoplight change) and Pedestrian (child running in front of vehicle). CNT-RT outcomes included: simple-, complex-, Stroop-, and composite-RT. Independent t-tests and Hedges' g effect sizes assessed between-group RT differences (seconds), and Pearson correlation coefficients examined relationships between driving-RT and CNT-RT (a = 0.05) outcomes.ResultsConcussed participants demonstrated slower complex-RT than controls (mean difference: 0.06 s; 95% CI: 0.11–0.01; p = 0.03; g = 0.86). No other driving- or CNT-RT outcomes were statistically significant (p = 0.06), but Stoplight- (p = 0.13; g = 0.61) and Pedestrian-RT (p = 0.40; g = 0.36) demonstrated low-to high-magnitude effects for concussed deficits. Complex-, Stroop-, and composite-RT moderately correlated with Stoplight-RT (p 0.05; r range: −0.19 to 0.05).ConclusionsPost-concussion driving- and CNT-RT outcomes overall normalized once asymptomatic, but complex-RT and large magnitude effects may indicate lingering deficits. Driving- and CNT-RT measures moderately correlated with each other, but a lack of strong correlation likely indicates driving responsiveness is not thoroughly assessed using traditional CNT post-concussion, which may have vital driving safety implications.

Background: Hypertension is a leading risk factor for morbidity and mortality around the world. Preventing this health problem is considered an important priority. The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive factors for care and control of hypertension (CCH) according to the health belief model (HBM) in patients with hypertension during the COVID-19 epidemic in Sirjan, Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, participants were chosen by simple random sampling. Data were collected by a valid and reliable researcher-made questionnaire from 200 patients with high blood pressure aged 30-60 years. Data were analyzed by SPSS21 and analysis based on descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and linear regression were conducted. Results: The results of Pearson correlation coefficients showed that there was a significant correlation between almost all constructs of Health Belief Model (HBM), but the strongest correlations were between self-efficacy and perceived susceptibility (r = 0.940, P ≤ 0.001), and between perceived barriers with perceived benefits (r = -0.615, P ≤ 0.001). According to linear regression, perceived barriers (β = -0.291), cues to action (β = -0.590), and knowledge (β = 0.973) predicted more than 26% of CCH variability. Knowledge had a stronger role than other variables. Conclusions: The results of this study show that the constructs of the Health Belief Model can predict CCH in hypertensive patients. This model can be used as a tool for designing and implementing educational interventions to increase CCH among hypertensive patients.
