HIV-positive children and adolescents are at increased risk of both central nervous system (CNS) sequelae and mental disorders owing to a number of factors, including the impact of HIV infection on the brain, social determinants of health (e.g. poverty and orphanhood) and psychosocial stressors related to living with HIV. Every effort should be made to identify perinatally HIV-infected children and initiate them on antiretroviral therapy early in life. HIV clinicians should ideally screen for mental health and neurocognitive problems, as part of the routine monitoring of children attending antiretroviral clinics. This guideline is intended as a reference tool for HIV clinicians to support the early identification, screening and management of mental health disorders and/or CNS impairment in children and adolescents. This guideline covers mental disorders (section 1) and HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (section 2) among children and adolescents.

Today, with the development of internet technology, a new kind of social relations and interactions have been formed in the newly emerged social networks. Through social networks, the users can share different types of content, including personal information, text, image, video, music, poem, and other related information, which express their mental states, emotions, feelings, and thoughts. Thus, a new and essential aspect of human life is being formed in a virtual space in social networks, which must be explored from several viewpoints, such as mental disorders. Analyzing mental disorders according to the social network data can guide us to gain new approaches to improve the public health of the whole society. To this aim, developing mental health feature extraction (MHFE) methods in a social network is essential and is now becoming an active research area. Therefore, in this paper, a review of existing techniques and methods in MHFE is presented, and a comprehensive framework is provided to classify these approaches. Furthermore, to analyze and evaluate each approach in extraction methods, an appropriate set of functional criteria is proposed, which leads to a more accurate understanding and correct use of them.

Like some of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s previous films, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (Iñárritu 2014) is an exploration of the place of individuals in the midst of various global forces, in this case, technological, social and cultural globalization. The film’s most relevant formal feature, the digitally created ‘long take’, also partakes of the director’s well-known penchant for technological and formal experimentation when telling a story. In Birdman, cinematic form is closely related to its thematic concerns, particularly the impact of technology on global processes. This article explores the confluence between form – digital cinema – and content in Birdman. It looks at the global virtual space created by the internet and social networks and how they affect our sense of being in the world. To this end, the film exploits the possibilities and connotations of the apparently uninterrupted single take that comprises most of the duration of the film and of the composited, digital-realistic space thus created.

Social networks are a new form of addiction to technology and are beginning to take place in the moroccan society in the last decades, especially among children and adolescents. Furthermore the Nomophobia is a new form of addiction to new generations of mobile phones. Because of the importance of their speed spread and their influence on the person's future and interpersonal relationships, we conducted a study to calculate the degree of Nomophobia in adolescent population. It is through the establishment of a questionnaire for a sample of 541 adolescents including 298 girls and 243 boys of young Moroccans and a test on Nomophobia NMP-Q. The statistical result stated that 69.1% of girls and 63% of boys have Nomophobia in a moderate and severe state, and that the Smartphone is more solicited than the laptop with a negative correlation between school performance and the score of Nomophobia. Thus, poor school performance and mental disorders in adolescents can be explained by taking Nomophobia.

There is increasing awareness of the importance of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) for optimal brain development and function. In recent decades, researchers have confirmed the central role of PUFAs in a variety of patho-physiological processes. These agents modulate the mechanisms of brain cell signalling including the dopaminergic and serotonergic pathways. Therefore, nutritional insufficiencies of PUFAs may have adverse effects on brain development and developmental outcomes. The role of n-3 PUFAs has been studied in several psychiatric disorders in adulthood: schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorder, and borderline personality disorder. In contrast to the great number of studies conducted in adults, there are only limited data on the effects of n-3 PUFA supplementation in children and adolescents who suffer from mental disorders or show a high risk of developing psychiatric disorders. The aim of this review is to provide a complete and updated account of the available evidence of the impact of polyunsaturated fatty acids on developmental psychopathology in children and adolescents and the effect of fatty acid supplementation during developmental milestones, particularly in high-risk populations of children with minimal but detectable signs or symptoms of mental disorders.

Objective: Considering the impact of rapid sociocultural, political, and economical changes on societies and families, population-based surveys of mental disorders in different communities are needed to describe the magnitude of mental health problems and their disabling effects at the individual, familial, and societal levels. Method: A population-based cross sectional survey (IRCAP project) of 30 532 children and adolescents between 6 and 18 years was conducted in all provinces of Iran using a multistage cluster sampling method. Data were collected by 250 clinical psychologists trained to use the validated Persian version of the semi-structured diagnostic interview Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-PL (K-SADS-PL). Results: In this national epidemiological survey, 6209 out of 30 532 (22.31%) were diagnosed with at least one psychiatric disorder. The anxiety disorders (14.13%) and behavioral disorders (8.3%) had the highest prevalence, while eating disorders (0.13%) and psychotic symptoms (0.26%) had the lowest. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders was significantly lower in girls (OR = 0.85; 95% CI: 0.80-0.90), in those living in the rural area (OR = 0.80; 95% CI: 0.73-0.87), in those aged 15-18 years (OR = 0.92; 95% CI: 0.86-0.99), as well as that was significantly higher in those who had a parent suffering from mental disorders (OR = 1.96; 95% CI: 1.63-2.36 for mother and OR = 1.33; 95% CI: 1.07-1.66 for father) or physical illness (OR = 1.26; 95% CI: 1.17-1.35 for mother and OR = 1.19; 95% CI: 1.10-1.28 for father). Conclusion: About one fifth of Iranian children and adolescents suffer from at least one psychiatric disorder. Therefore, we should give a greater priority to promoting mental health and public health, provide more accessible services and trainings, and reduce barriers to accessing existing services.

There are data on changes in the physical development of the younger generation in the literature. The discovered new trends require the search for modern factors that affect the formation of the physical development of children and adolescents. It is shown that the harmony of physical development is influenced by medico-social factors, the factors of the school environment and the way of life of schoolchildren, as well as the change of permanent residence.
