Introduction. The issue of gradual relations in differentiation of the meanings of substance and attributiveness in the English and Uzbek languages in a gradual way is studied in the article. Graduonymy, as a type of linguistic phenomenon, serves as the main demarcation method for the manifestation of substantive and attributive meanings in different aspects of the systems of English and Uzbek languages. Research methods. Logical analizing and synthesizing, linguistic analyzing, graduonymy, comparative method, constructive method, synchronic classification method and others are used to make a linguistic research on the given issue. Graduonymic approach is chosen as the main way of the linguistic analysis of the substance and attributive meanings in the lexical and grammatical aspects of the language system in general. Results and discussion. Demarcation of substance and attributive meanings in the English and Uzbek languages occurs in a gradual way as a form of language consciousness. However, substance and attributiveness, being sincrete (diffuisive) in reality, semi-discrete (as concepts of substance and attributiveness) in human consciousness, and discrete (analytical) in language system, are realised in both English and Uzbek languages in the forms of gradual lines (rows).

In this study, the effects of electrode surface design on the resistance spot weldability and degradation of the electrode following resistance spot welding (RSW) of aluminum 6014-T4 alloy were investigated. A new patterning method that can be produced through repetitive pressurization was applied to the electrode, producing a lattice-like pattern shape on the resulting patterned electrode. When RSW was performed using the lattice patterned electrode, the contact resistance decreased because of the effective removal of the oxide film from the surface of the aluminum alloy. As a result, heat generated by resistance on the E/S interface was reduced. Moreover, the growth rate of the weld nuggets formed with the patterned electrode in the thickness direction was lower than that of the nuggets formed with the as-received electrode, and there was comparatively less Cu-Al alloying of the patterned electrode. In addition, a continuous RSW process was performed on the alloy to observe the effect of the electrode surface design on electrode sticking. The results indicated that electrode surface shape can significantly influence resistance heat generation and electrode cooling effects, as well as produce welds with different weld morphology and microstructure. Finally, it was proved that the patterned electrode suffered less electrode degradation through EPMA on the electrode surface after the continuous RSW was completed.

Abstract. The given article aims to determine and systemize the semantic and phonological transition of English idioms into Uzbek language by means of translation, taking into account the lingua-cultural peculiarities of these two languages, that are represented here as main objects of my research. Methods. This research comprises two key methods of translation, that are called literary translation and consecutive translation. The specificity of literary translation of English idiom expressions into Uzbek and Russian from the point of view of the maximum possible preservation of their, first of all, semantic, and then lexical, and linguistic content is revealed. The possibilities of adequate transmission of meanings and images, mechanisms and principles of literary translation of idioms, as well as the use of a comparative method to achieve the assigned tasks are considered. The main task of the comparative method is to compare the system and structure of languages for various linguistic characteristics. In essence, the comparative method is equivalent to typological study of languages

The purpose of our study is to form a typical criminological profile of a person who has committed a criminal offense in the field of protection of the State Border of Ukraine. Based on the detailed study of the sentences issued by the national courts of Ukraine during 2015-2020 concerning such persons, a typical criminological profile of the person was formulated. Thus, the typical criminological profile is a male (95.7%), a citizen of Ukraine (89%), Ukrainian by nationality (82.6%), married or living in common-law marriage (69.6%), with low income (67.4%). Not previously convicted (87%), committed the crime to obtain additional funds (86.9%), admits guilt in full, repents, contributes to the disclosure of the crime (84.8%). Specialized research methods are applied. The comparative method is used to compare the characteristics of the offender, who violated the order of entry into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and other crimes that encroached on border security. The logical-legal method is used to form logical, systematic, and consistent conclusions. The study is based on research of 38 sentences imposed on 46 people. The data obtained allowed us to interpret them as a characteristic of the offender.

The sensitivity method is a type of effective shape optimization method and the strain energy is a frequently used objective function. The change of a surface shape inevitably causes a change in its quality. However, the influence of the load term on strain energy sensitivity has not been considered in many studies. In order to make the influence clear, the formula of the strain energy sensitivity including the load term was first derived. Secondly, the influence of the sensitivity load term on the structural evolution was studied by using different optimization schemes. The results showed that the load term of strain energy sensitivity accounts for a small proportion of the whole strain energy sensitivity, but it still has a cumulative impact on the structural evolution, and the shell thickness has an impact on the role of the load term of the strain energy sensitivity. The load term could influence the rate of increase in the structural weight and had an impact on the shape change to some extent. Therefore, for general construction projects, the strain energy sensitivity should be with the load term if the shell thickness is very thin or a higher performance of the structure is required.

This article examines the issue of ensuring raw material security as seen in the contemporary national security strategies of Poland. The temporal framework identified as “contemporary” indicates that the analysis embraced documents from the period 2003–2020, which mark a significant qualitative change in terms of defining and understanding security as an area which is not dominated by its hard, military aspect. The study aims to identify, discuss and compare various concepts of ensuring raw material security to Poland on the basis of the four strategies of Poland’s national security. The following research problems were formulated to achieve the research objectives defined in this way: to what extent is the issue of Poland’s raw material security present in the documents analyzed? What tools have the authors of the strategies employed to ensure security in Poland in terms of raw materials? What are the main difficulties in ensuring raw material security to Poland highlighted by the analyzed national security strategies? Are there any convergences in the visions of ensuring Poland’s raw material security presented in the analyzed strategies? The research questions formulated in this way served as the basis for the following research hypothesis: given an increase in non-military threats, the raw material-related dimension of security is increasingly emphasized in national security strategies. The research methods used in this article include the comparative method and source analysis. The technique of analysis was also used.

The paper deals with conceptual students’ perception of problem-based learning and project-based learning in a higher education institution. Nowadays students have a different lifestyle, various opportunities to study and different learning habits, so traditional learning does not satisfy them. Teachers must look for more modern ways to transfer the information and to explain the topics and issues. And some of these ways are problem-based learning and project-based learning methods. The authors of the paper carried out the research, assessing the students’ point of view on these modern ways of learning. The research methods: literature analysis and comparative method, which allowed to clarify and to compare the differences of problem-based and project-based learning, and the questionnaire to get the students’ opinion about these methods used in a higher education institution.

Based on academic achievements of, primarily, Chinese and Vietnamese researchers including materials recorded in the form of writings, reports, diaries, and letters sent to Europe by Western missionaries operating in China and Vietnam in the 17th and 18th centuries, and at the same time combining the application of two main research methods of Science and History (historical method and logical method) with other research methods (systematization, analysis, synthesis, statistics, etc.) and especially the comparative method, this article aims to clarify two points of focus. The first is the open attitude of Chinese and Vietnamese rulers in accepting Western medical achievements and the positive, respectful, and admiring views of some missionaries towards different aspects of traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicine. The second is the contradiction in some Western missionaries' perception and actions when they criticized the superstition in the way of disease diagnosis and treatment of the Vietnamese and Chinese, especially the Taoist priests, however they committed to such approaches in the process of examining and treating indigenous people. The study of some of the phenomena that arose during the connections made between Western medicine and traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicine in the 17th and 18th centuries as mentioned above would make a certain contribution to the study of the history of the East-West cultural exchange in China and Vietnam in general, as well as the medical history in the two countries, in particular during this period.
