Abstract Yogyakarta International Airport in Temon, Kulon Progo, is projected as a replacement for Yogyakarta Adisu-tjipto International Airport. This new airport requires an intermodal passenger transport, which is a mode of transportation that needs to be prepared to connect the airport with the supporting cities served. In this study, a questionnaire survey involving 1,000 respondents was conducted. The survey was conducted at Adisutjipto Airport to find out the origin and destination of passengers in using the mode of transportation to and from Yogyakarta International Airport. Based on the origin and destination data, a map of the airport service area is made. The proportion of the choice of transportation mode was used as the basis of the potential passenger demand for a route. The route of intermodal transportation is found to be from and goes to 10 points, namely Borobudur, Kebumen, Magelang, Purwokerto, Purworejo, Temanggung, Wates/Sentolo, Wonosari, Wonosobo, and Yog-yakarta. The operational costs of intermodal passenger transport are Rp9,570.53 per kilometer. The average passenger fare per kilometer is Rp1,042.07. The tariff for various routes is more realistic in describing the distance, with an average deviation of Rp38.24 and a range of Rp141.55. Keywords: intermodal passenger transport, airport, tariffs, operational costs  Abstrak Yogyakarta International Airport di Temon, Kulon Progo, diproyeksikan sebagai pengganti Bandar Udara Internasional Adisutjipto Yogyakarta. Intermodal transportation is a research topic of great interest at present. This paper presents a route choice analysis on an intermodal freight transportation network. The aim of this study was to determine the optimum route and mode of transportation based on least distance and least time criteria for the movement of containers from origin to the destination. Geographic Information System (GIS) was adopted to build the hypothetical freight transportation network and MATLAB software was used to model the travel distance and travel time. The results showed that the model can be used effectively to identify the shortest path and modes of transportation according to objective functions.

The sea transportation mode is a means or tool used by people to move from one place to another. Sea freight mode in DKI Jakara is expected to provide quality service to the users of the transportation services as well as the service users on board, other than that the passenger characteristics strongly affect passengers in choosing Mode of transportation. Based on the user data of traditional vessels majority of the female users differ from the Dishub ship of the majority of male users. The user's age for both ships is the majority of the age range of 21-30 years, including the majority work of students. The level of user earning both traditional and dishub vessels does not differ the majority have not been income according to the type of work. The purpose and frequency of user journeys of traditional vessels and dishub vessels are no different, with the purpose of the majority being a one-time recreation a year. The study aims to determine which variables will result in factors affecting the perpetrators and the probability of selecting the mode located in the Muara Angke port between the Dishub ship and the traditional vessel. Data processing uses the Serqual method to determine the number of samples from the population and SPSS program to find out the factors affecting the selection of the modes of traditional vessels of Dishub and vessels.

After the Anthropocene, human settlements will likely have less available energy to move people and things. This paper considers the feasibility of five modes of transportation under two energy-constrained scenarios. It analyzes the effects transportation mode choice is likely to have on the size of post-Anthropocene human settlements, as well as the role speed and energy play in such considerations. I find that cars, including battery-electric cars, are not feasible under a highly energy-constrained scenario, that buses, metros, and walking are feasible but will limit human settlement size, and that cycling is likely the only mode of transportation that would make suburbs possible in an energy-constrained post-Anthropocene scenario.

This study introduces random utility theory to ordinary weighted Voronoi diagram and describes its application in delimiting the services area of a regional highway passenger transport hub. The Euclidean distance was replaced by a utility function of hub’s capacity factor, travel distance, travel time, and monetary travel cost from passenger’s initial origin to the alternative hubs. The service area was delimited based on utility maximization principle and a nested-logit model for transport hub and travel mode. The application shows that the service area of a hub is not consistent with its administrative boundary. It proves Voronoi diagram is a reasonable and practical tool for detecting the service boundary of a hub by offering an integrated angle to recognize the interacting relationship between hub location, transport network, and passenger’s choice behaviors.

Taxis account for a large percent of urban public passenger transport. This research proposes a monitor model of analyzing unoccupied taxis at a defined area. By scientific analysis of taxi GPS data precision and quality, 16,255 valid taxis in register list were filtered, and two coefficients were introduced to correct the taxi monitoring model. Based on the location reports of valid taxis, the number of unoccupied taxi which was able to dispatch to meet passengers’ demands can be predicted. Take the terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport as a case study, the field investigation results show that the precision of model reached 87.25%. It provides reliable systematic support and alert for a low taxi number when there comes up large taxi travel demand during the peak period or under severe weathers.

The development of a PC-based and easy-to-use-and-update econometric model system for forecasting arrivals at the Honolulu International Airport is presented. A model system instead of a single model was designed so that differential growth rates from various origins as well as arrivals affected by curfews at the origin or the destination, or both, can be estimated. The airport system of the state facilitates the only mode of transportation into and out of Hawaii. Planning based on reliable demand forecasts is therefore essential. Separate models of arrivals from Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Korea, and the United Kingdom were specified and estimated using the Cochrane-Orcutt regression method. Several diagnostic tests were employed to arrive at the final models, as problems of correlation (over time) and collinearity (among variables) were present. Independent variables include the gross domestic product, population, monetary exchange rate, and unemployment rate of the origin countries. Historical values for the independent variables were taken from the publications of international organizations. Variables for wars that tend to affect flying security and natural disasters in Hawaii that affect the supply of tourist accommodations were included in the model specifications.

Abstract The Greek economic crisis of 2009 onwards has affected all aspects of social and economic life of the country, including transportation. Taking into account the link between the economic crisis and transportation, the present study aims to investigate the way that the economic crisis has affected the interurban travel rail habits of the citizens of Athens, the capital of Greece. We conducted a study, using a questionnaire survey with 400 participants, to investigate the general trends concerning the purpose and the frequency of railway travelling and the restrictions of their travel activities due to the economic recession. The results of this study show that more than half of respondents declared that there is not any great difference in their use of rail as transport during last years, while they express a positive opinion as they attribute it to the higher safety and comfort of railway compared to other transportation modes. However, the cost of the ticket and the provided level of service are two significant factors for the participants for the choice of their transportation mode.

The mode of transportation is one very important factor in accelerating the socioeconomic growth of a region. Surabaya is the capital of East Java Province and is one of the largest cities on the island of Java. The city of Surabaya which bears as the capital provides a variety of infrastructure facilities in an effort to serve the community, especially in the field of transportation. Some of the modes of transportation that are developing in this city are trains and buses with routes in several small cities in East Java. In this study the authors wanted to know the characteristics of the community in the use of rail and bus transportation modes from the direction of Madiun-Surabaya. This study uses a questionnaire instrument with sampling techniques Solvin, Issac Michael and Morgan, then data analysis using descriptive models. From the results of the study, it is known that the characteristics of the community based on the price attribute mostly use bus transportation, based on the attribute of the timeliness of choosing a train and based on the hadway and the frequency tends to be the same.
