The aims of this research to describe the problem solving of students in solving the TIMSS algebra content problem with the topic is pattern based on the Polya stage for 8th grader students in SMP Negeri 3 Salatiga. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive. There are two questions about TIMSS algebra content with the topic pattern, with subject selection by purposive sampling obtained as many as 3 subjects. The result showed that is the matter of arithmetic number pattern for the subject S1 and S3 able to pass all the stages of Polya well, but for the subject S2 of the stages of Polya that were not carried out is check again. The pictorial pattern problem for the subject S1 as able to pass all the Polya stages well, but the subject S2 and S3 the Polya stage is not performed is check again.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dalam mengerjakan soal olimpiade SMP bagi siswa kelas IX SMP N 8 Salatiga. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 4 siswa yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil tes dan wawancara diketahui semua subjek tidak memenuhi kelima tahap Krulik & Rudnick pada soal nomor 1. Pada langkah awal tahap membaca dan berfikir (read and think) subjek  telah melakukan kesalahan dalam memahami soal/masalah. Sedangkan untuk soal nomor 2 hanya 1 subjek yang tidak mampu melewati tahap kelima pada tahap teori Krulik dan Rudnick yaitu refleksi dan pengembangan (reflect and extend). Abstract:  This is a qualitative descriptive research. The purpose of this research is to know the ability of mathematics problem solving in doing Junior High Olympics for students of grade IX SMP N 8 Salatiga. The research subjects consist of 4 students selected by purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of tests and interviews are known that all subjects did not meet the five stages of Krulik & Rudnick in question number 1. In the first step of reading and thinking phase, the subject has made a mistake in understanding the problem. Meanwhile, in question number 2 only 1 subject who is not able to pass the fifth stage at the stage of Krulik and Rudnick theory, that is reflect and extend.

The aim of this research to know the error of problem solving in trigonometry. This research used the qualitative descriptive, with the subject of research is 80 students who were taken be based on purposive sampling. The procedure of the data was used by the think out louds. Technically the analysis of the data that was used was (1) studied all the data’s that were gathered, (2) studied results of the work of the student in resolving the problem of trigonometry, (3) carried out the verification from the data. The checking of the legality of the data used the triangulation. The first and second stage of error was the concept, the third stage of error was the algorithm, and the fourth stage of error was habits and Confirmation of the answer. Keyword: error,  problem solving,  trigonometry

Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan pemecahan masalah open-ended pada materi bangun datar segiempat bagi siswa SMP . Subjek  dalam penelitian ini adalah 3 siswa kelas VIII H SMP N 8 Salatiga yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Subjek  dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek berkemampuan sedang dan subjek berkemampuan rendah belum mampu memahami masalah, menyusun rencana pemecahan masalah khususnya soal nomor satu. Subjek berkemampuan rendah belum mampu memeriksa kembali. Abstract: This is a qualitative descriptive research. The purpose of this research is to know  the profile of open-ended problem solving in rectangular geometric shape of junior high school students. The subject of this research is 3 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 8 Salatiga who have high, medium, and low skills. The subject of this research is taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used were a test, interview, and documentation. The result showed that subject capable of achieving and subject capable low have not been able to understand a problem, device a plan problem solving especially about number one. Subject capable low have not been able to l ooking back.

The aims of this study is to describe students’ mathematical communication ability in term of learning interest in learning online during the Covid-19. The approach of the research used qualitative descriptive with 11 students and 1 mathematics teacher at the eighth grade students as the subject of the research which taken by using purposive sampling technique. Questionnaire, test, and interview were used in collecting the data. The result of the research shows average of students’ mathematical communication ability 57.48 (average category) and average of students’ learning interest is 70.36 (good category). Furthermore, the result of the research shows students’ learning interest is high then students’ mathematical communication ability is high, students’ learning interest is average then students’ mathematical communication ability is average, students’ learning interest is low then students’ mathematical communication ability is low.

The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of mathematical resilience to students problem solving abilities. This research was conducted in MTs Negeri Kota Cimahi class VIII-I even semester in academic year 2017-2018. The method used is qualitative descriptive method. Population taken is all students of class VIII MTs Negeri Kota Cimahi. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, which is a determination and sampling technique determined by the researchers with certain considerations. The sample consists of 34 students. Circle material used in research. Research instrument as many as 5 items about problem solving and resilience statement scale as many as 40 statement. The conclusion gained is that there are difficulties experienced by students in solving problem solving problem and there is correlation between mathematical resiliency to student problem solving ability equal to 0,649.

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas XI SMA dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal pemecahan masalah matematika pada pokok bahasan lingkaran. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa di salah satu kelas XI IPA di SMA Negeri 5 Kota Bengkulu yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Setelah siswa mengerjakan 5 soal pemecahan masalah tentang lingkaran selama 60 menit secara tertulis, jawaban siswa kemudian dianalisis dan diidentifikasi untuk menemukan bagaimana siswa menyelesaikan soal, banyak strategi pemecahan masalah yang digunakan siswa, serta banyak solusi atau jawaban yang didapat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beberapa siswa belum mampu menyelesaikan masalah dengan tepat disebabkan kesalahan dalam langkah mensintesis dan menganalisis soal. Strategi yang mayoritas digunakan oleh para siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah adalah drawing a picture (menggambar). Siswa juga menggunakan strategi guessing and checking (menebak dan menguji). Berkaitan dengan banyaknya jawaban siswa, siswa menjawab soal tertutup dengan jawaban yang sama, sedangkan untuk soal terbuka ditemukan tiga jawaban berbeda.Students’ problem-solving ability in solving closed and open-ended problems on the subject of the circleAbstractThis research was descriptive qualitative research that aimed to describe the problem-solving abilities of eleventh-grade students in solving mathematical problems on the subject of the circle. The subjects in this study were 30 students in one of the XI Science classes in SMA Negeri 5 Bengkulu City, Indonesia selected by purposive sampling. After students worked on five problem-solving questions about the circle for 60 minutes in writing-form, the students’ answers were then analyzed and identified to find how students solve the problems, how many problem-solving strategies used by students as well as many solutions or answers obtained. The research finding showed that some students have been not able to solve the problems correctly due to their misconceptions when doing the steps of synthesizing and analyzing. The majority of the strategies used by students in solving problems were drawing a picture. Students also used the guessing and checking strategy. Regarding the number of students' answers found, students answered closed questions with the same answers while for open-ended questions, it was found that students were able to find three different answers.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan menggambar ilustrasi teknik arsir yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan hasil karya gambar ilustrasi teknik arsir berdasarkan aspek penilaian ilustrasi yaitu penempatan, konsep, karakter, dan konsistensi menurut prinsip penilaian ilustrasi oleh Andrew Loomis. Waktu penelitian berlangsung selama 2 bulan, yang dilaksanakan dari bulan Oktober hingga Desember. Lokasi penelitian adalah jalan Batang Kuis Desa Tanjung Sari Kecamatan Batang Kuis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menguraikan masing-masing subjek yang diteliti. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan purposive sampling dengan sample 29 karya siswa. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa nilai rata-rata karya siswa secara keseluruhan dikaregorikan baik dengan rata-rata nilai 79,8 (baik). Hasil karya gambar ilustrasi dikategorikan baik yaitu 27 karya dengan nilai rata-rata 80,8. Hasil karya gambar ilustrasi teknik arsir dikategorikan cukup baik yaitu 1 karya dengan nilai 66,3. Hasil karya gambar ilustrasi tenik arsir dikategorikan kurang baik yaitu 1 karya dengan nilai 64,9. Maka dari 29 karya gambar ilustrasi teknik arsir yang mencapai nilai KKM sebanyak 28 karya dari karya gambar Ilustrasi Teknik Arsir yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Tunas Karya Batang Kuis.Kata Kunci: analisis, gambar, ilustrasi, teknik, arsir.AbstractThe Study aims to determine the ability to illustrate shading techniques that are used to obtain the illustrations of shading techniques based on the assessment aspects of the technique, namely placement, concept, character, and consistency according to the illustration by Andrew Loomis. The time of the study lasted for two months, wich was held from October to Desember. The location of the research is at Batang Kuis St. Tanjung Sari village Batang Kuis sub-dictrict. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by describing the subject studied. In this study,the researcher used purposive sampling with a sample of 29 student works. The result of the study explain that the average value of students as a whole can be categorized as good with an average calue of 79,8 (good). Illustration works are categorized as good, namely 27 works with an average value of 80,8. The drawing artwork of the shading technique is categorized quite well, namely 1 work with a value of 66,3. The results of the experimental work of the shading technique are categorized as poor, namely 1 work with a value 64,9. Then of the 29 images of shading drawing technique wich reached KKM values as many as 28 students’ work from the work of the drawing technique of the shading technique made by students of class VIII Private Junior High School Tunas Karya Batang Kuis. This study aims to obtain an overview of the characteristics and levels of metacognitive ability of junior high school students as seen from the melancholic and choleric personality types according to Hippocrates-Galenus. The results of this study are expected to be used as consideration for teachers in designing mathematics lessons that pay attention to personality types and students' metacognitive processes. A qualitative descriptive approach was chosen to answer the research objectives. At the same time, the research subjects were two grade VII students with melancholic and choleric personality types in one of the Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Jepara. The purposive sampling technique used in this research to subject selection. Data collection techniques used personality type questionnaires, metacognition tests, and interviews. Data analysis used three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that melancholic and choleric students had different characteristics and levels of metacognition. Melancholic students are at the metacognitive level between tacit use and aware use, while the rest of the cholerics are at the tacit use metacognition level. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang karakteristik dan jenjang kemampuan metakognisi siswa SMP yang dilihat dari tipe kepribadian melankolis dan koleris menurut Hippocrates-Galenus. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan pertimbangan guru dalam mendesain pembelajaran matematika yang memperhatikan tipe kepribadian dan proses metakognisi siswa. Pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dipilih untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian. Sedangkan subjek penelitian adalah dua orang siswa kelas VII yang bertipe kepribadian melankolis dan koleris di salah satu SMP Muhammadiyah di Jepara. Adapun teknik pemilihan subjek penelitian menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket tipe kepribadian, tes metakognisi, dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan tiga langkah yakni reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa melankolis dan koleris memiliki karakteristik dan jenjang metakognisi berbeda. Siswa melankolis berada pada jenjang metakognisi antara tacit use dan aware use, sedangkan sisa koleris berada pada jenjang metakognisi tacit use. ABSTRACT Metacognition is one of the important things in supporting one's success in solving mathematics problems because by using metacognition when solving problems, effective problem solving will be obtained. Metacognition is one's awareness of his own thought process. In dealing with a problem, it will be influenced by Adversity Quotient (AQ), namely intelligence in facing difficulties and changing barriers into opportunities for success. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were a Satya Wacana Christian University Mathematics Education student who had the AQ type of quitters. Quitters are a type of human who easily gives up in the face of difficulties. The results showed that the metacognition process experienced by the subject included metacognition awareness, evaluation, and regulation. In addition, metacognition also helps the subject to make thoughts and problem solving strategies more effective.

The type of this research is Research and Development. The research purpose was to develop and determine the feasibility of e-LKPD mathematics based on Problem Solving number pattern material for class VIII Junior High School. The development model used in this research is ADDIE. The subject in this research is all student of class VIII B and VIII C SMP Muhammadiyah Piyungan. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis and descriptive quantitative analysis. The results showed that e-LKPD mathematics based on Problem Solving number pattern material was feasible to use after the validation test was carried out with the material expert giving a score of 115.5 and material expert giving a score of 85.5 in the very good category. In addition, the trial of product obtained a score of 82.15 with a good category. This shows that e-LKPD mathematics based on Problem Solving number pattern material is fesiable to use in the learning.
