The relationship between exclusion or rejection and aggression is already well documented, but there is still a debate about the mechanisms that underlie this effect. In two studies we focused on the propensity to react aggressively (readiness for aggression) on the bases of emotional, cognitive or self-enhancement (personality-immanent) processes. In both studies we first measured readiness for aggression and then ego-depleted participants. Next, in Study 1 we excluded participants (n = 96) using an online ball throwing game and measured displaced aggressive behavior - intensity and duration of an unpleasant noise administrated to a stranger. In Study 2 participants (n = 140) were rejected by a peer on the basis of an interview that they gave and then could retaliate by reducing peer's chance for getting a job. The results show that exclusion effect on displaced aggression was moderated by cognitive readiness for aggression, while rejection effect on retaliatory aggression was shaped by emotional and personality-immanent readiness for aggression as well as ego-depletion. The results were discussed in light of the strength model of self-control by Baumeister, Vohs, and Tice (2007).

This research was conducted to find out the relationship between the patient and self-esteem with the aggressiveness of a football supporters because many phenomena that occur as a result of the aggressive behavior of soccer supporters that are often negative and harming others. The subjects in this research there were as many as 102 football supporters with snow ball sampling technique. This study used three scales, the scale of patience, self-esteem scale and scale of agressiveness. Form of the scale used is Likert scale. Hypothesis testing is done by using multiple regression of analysis. The results showed that the analysis results sig 0.000 < 0.05, or higher score of patience and higher score of self-esteem in a football supporter, can be a predictor of low score of aggressiveness.

Thia research aims to know the relationship between optimism and self control with respect to coping stress academic coping stress in undergraduate student guidance and counseling UNNES. This research is an ex postfacto research with a sample of 157 of the population amounted to 288 students with technique of sampling proportionate stratified random sampling. The scale of coping stress in the adaption of the COPE, the scale of optimism in the adaption of the LOT-R, and the scale of self control in the adaption SCS, the scale used in the collection of data with reliability 0,940, 0,769 and 0,937. As for the analysis techniques using double regression. Results of the study showed that between optimism coping stress have a significant relationship (R= 0,529 f(1,555)= 60,101, p =<0,01) then the relationship between coping stress with self control also has a significant relationship (R= 0,366, f(5,150) = 78,544, p=<0,01). Similarly, between optimism and self control with coping stress also has a significant relationship (R= 0,892, f(2,155)= 289,581, p=<0,01).

This has become one of the obstacles in the lives of teenagers to lead a healthy life. One other obstacle is the problem of emotional maturity, because there are still many teenagers who do not have good emotional maturity. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and adjustment at SMPN 19 Surabaya. The study population was all students of class VIII, totaling 261 people and a sample of 106 students. The sampling technique used in this study is non random sampling with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires arranged on a Likert scale. The study showed very significant results, where the value of r = 0.809 with p = 0.000 (p <0.010). This means that the proposed hypothesis is accepted. Emotional maturity has a very significant relationship with adapting to adolescents at SMPN 19 Surabaya

Background: The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has emerged as a global health threat. Biological disasters like this can generate immense prejudice, xenophobia, stigma and othering, all of which have adverse consequences on health and well-being. In a country as diverse and populous in India, such crisis can trigger communalism and mutual blame. Keeping this in context, this study explored the relationship between well-being and xenophobic attitudes towards Muslims, collectivism and fear of COVID-19 in India. Methods: The study was carried out on 600 non-Islamic Indians (231 males, 366 females and 3 others; mean age: 38.76 years), using convenience sampling. An online survey containing Fear of Coronavirus scale, Warwick–Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale and Collectivism Scale was used. Xenophobia was assessed using two scales: generalized prejudice towards Muslims and specific xenophobic tendencies towards Muslims during COVID-19. The data were analysed using correlational methods and multiple regression. Results: The findings showed that positively significant relationship exists between well-being and age as well as with collectivism, while an inversely significant relationship between well-being and fear of COVID-19 was found. The results of the multiple regression analysis shows that fear of COVID-19, age, collectivism and generalized xenophobia, in the order of their importance, together contributed to nearly 20% of variance in well-being. Conclusion: The findings are reflective of the importance of collectivism in enhancing well-being in these times of uncertainty. Xenophobia, one of the common offshoots of pandemics, can also harm the overall well-being. Implications are discussed in the light of India’s diverse socio-religious background and global context.

Suicide has become a debilitating issue. Although it is a preventable condition but failure to understand the thinking pattern could significantly dampen the effort to avert it. Despite being an important issue, there is still a lack of study centralising into the thinking pattern when suicidal thoughts are mooted in. Due to this gap, this study was set to examine the relationship between cognitive distortion and suicidal ideation. Using purposive sampling 414 students whose were seeking career advice were recruited to participate in this study. Results indicated that there was a significant relationship between cognitive distortion and suicidal ideation. Using multiple regression, the finding showed that out of 10 thinking patterns, overgeneralisation contributes the most to the suicidal thoughts. These findings will help professionals to understand better the nature of suicidal ideation and assist them in providing better services and alleviating its symptoms. This study also discussed the limitations and the directions for future research.
