The aim of this paper is to assess the standing of electric bus market in Poland against a background of the European and world market. The assessment involved presenting, in the first part of the article, characteristics of the worldwide and European markets from the demand and supply side. As for the world market of electric buses, the article discusses at great length the characteristics of Chinese market since this is the dominant market as regards both the number of vehicle in operation and the number of manufactured electric buses. The second part of the article provides the characteristics of demand and supply side of electric bus market in Poland presenting both domestic and European electric bus manufacturers who situated their production plants in Poland. In the study, I examined the market competition and concentration in the word market of concentrated apple juice. I used RCA index to determine comparative advantages In the world China possesses the strongest comparative advantages. Besides China, Poland, Hungary, Chile, Ukraine, Turkey and Moldova possess strong comparative advantages too. I used Herfindahl-Hirschman-index to determine the market concentration. Based on it – excluding the high Chinese market share between 2006 and 2010 – the world market of concentrated apple juice can be considered as a market with a moderate concentration. Based on the secondary research the study has a detailed examination of cause and effect relationships behind the RCA and HHI index results

Ethylene is the largest of the olefin markets and is also one of the most important petrochemically derived monomers that are used as a feedstock for the production of various commercially useful chemical products (e.g. polyethylene, polymers, fibers etc.). The primary objective of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview about olefins particularly ethylene production technologies and its commercial significance in the world market. The content of this chapter is presented as follows: a general overview about olefins production is given. This is followed by introducing the reader to ethylene including its properties importance/applications. The next section describes the production technologies of ethylene and some of its selected derivatives, followed by an overview of the technology, market, costs, capacity, global demand and supply of ethylene technology. Finally, main points and outlook of this highly industrially important commodity chemical are summarized.

This paper aims to evaluate the variation of market share explained by structural and competitive forces using the Constant Market Share (CMS) model. Assuming that a country should maintain its market share to keep competitive, the equation used in the model analyzes the export basket composition, exports destination, growth or shrinkage of the world market and the competitiveness effect. The overall loss of the Brazilian market share in a time series from 1998-2012 is given due to the barriers of potential European markets and reduction of the market growth of the product with shell. In a different way, the increase in exports of shelled nuts to markets with higher growth rates contributed to a favorable outlook for Bolivian and Peruvian markets, which had a market share gain on the period.

The telecommunications sector entered the new millennium with a new paradigm, defined in four terms: mobile and global in nature, private, competitive and with interests in different sectors. Within this framework, the research presented here addresses the new cycle in Telefónica's internationalisation and the intricate investment process in Spanish telecommunications. The text is structured in four main sections, comprising an overview of Telefónica in the world market, Telefónica's entry into Central Europe with Český Telecom, the entry into unexplored European markets with O2 and the penetration of subjectively distant markets - China.

The aim of the study is to present the market situation of plums in Poland against the background of global changes on the supply side in 2010–2016, with particular emphasis on the situation on the market of regional plums with protected geographical indications (PGI). The directions of changes in the area of cultivation, fruit production and yield in Poland were determined against the background of world and EU-28 tendencies. The specifics scale and conditions of production as well as prices of plums with PGI are presented. The main trends on the world market were determined on the basis of volumes from 2010-2016 included in FAO publications, while national data came from the Central Statistical Office (GUS), Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARIMR), GIJHARS, own research in the period 2010–2017 and Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers in Ujanowice.

The paper shows how analyses assuming perfect competition can yield a distorted estimation of the expected effects of a trade liberalization when market imperfections exist. The analytical framework adopted is very simple and three extreme imperfect market structures are considered. In the first case, the exporting country maximizes its producer and consumer surplus by intervening in the world market. The second market imperfection considered is the existence of a private firm playing the role of «pure middleman» in the world market. Then the case of a producer-owned marketing board which is granted exclusive export authority is addressed. It is shown that estimates of the impact of a tariff reduction in terms of prices and volume traded obtained assuming perfect competition when this postulate does not hold, are distorted. When domestic demand and supply functions are assumed to be linear, the impact is overestimated; a ranking of the size of such distortions in the three cases analyzed is provided. When no restriction is imposed on the demand and supply functions, the error in the estimated impact of a tariff reduction involves the magnitude as well as the sign of the expected changes in prices and volume traded. Finally, it is proved that when a private firm exerts monopoly and monopsony power in the world market, both the importing and the exporting countries may well be better off if, rather than making a move towards trade liberalization, the importing country «compensates» the exporting country by means of a direct transfer.

Indonesia is one of the largest natural rubber exporters in the world. On the other hand, the potential for natural rubber in the world market is enormous. The Asian continent is the largest market for Indonesian natural rubber, followed by American and European markets. Currently there have been many studies on the competitiveness of Indonesian natural rubber exports to the international market, but so far there has not been much research on the competitiveness and potential of rubber exports specifically to European countries. This study aims to determine the competitiveness and the potential of Indonesian natural rubber in European countries, namely Germany, France, and Spain. The method used in this study is descriptive analytics, meanwhile Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) was used to determine Indonesia’s competitiveness in each of the partner countries, on the other hand Export Product Dynamic (EPD) was used to determine the performance of Indonesian natural rubber in partner countries. The RCA index shows that Indonesia has competitive advantages in the partner countries, and the EPD matrix indicated that Indonesia is in a rising star position in the German, French and Spanish markets. To strengthen this position, Indonesia needs to increase their export value through the increase in production.

The study is aimed at the investigation of trade implications for Pakistan in the milieu of globalisation. To this end, it examines the nature and application of WTO and identifies its operative tariff and non-tariff instruments. By doing so, it intends to trace out the place of Pakistan in the world market in comparison to its competitors. The study concludes that the pattern of trade preferences and WTO grants do not necessarily guarantee success in the export performance of the recipients. Similarly, various other demand and supply side factors also play an important role in this regard. Nevertheless, the main focus of the study remained on the investigation of trade implications of WTO for Pakistan’s Cotton exports and impact of EU enlargement on Cotton sector of Pakistan. The examination of comparative trade statistics denotes that Pakistan has been one of the leading trading partners of Cotton products for the world and proved to be a forefront supplier of selected Cotton items over the period under review. Although Pakistan’s export performance has been adequate in comparison to its competitors but still it needs to be accelerated
