The article is to study the everyday life of the Soviet population under the Nazi occupation as it remains insufficiently studied yet. One of the author’s tasks is to introduce new sources into scientific use. The study reveals informative capabilities of documents on governance in the occupied territory using microhistorical approach and involving methods of text data analysis. The article reviews minutes of meetings of the staff of civil administration of the Krasnogorodsk region chaired by the German commandant. On the eve of the Great Patriotic War the region was a part of the Kalinin region; in 1941–44 it was under occupation. Then the German commandant was chief representative of the authorities in the region. The staff of the regional administration and its chief (including chiefs of the districts and villages) followed his directions. The districts more or less corresponded to village soviets. The meetings of the commandant with the administration staff were held regularly. The records of meetings found by the author in the fonds of the Velikiye Luki department of the State Archives of the Pskov Region date back to early 1943. The data analysis of the documents suggests that most often discussed issues were administrative and civil order matters, for instance, functions of military and civil administration and forms of their interaction. The job duties and powers of different civil administration staff and their requirements were often clarified, as well as regulations for getting passports and collecting data on population composition and various aspects of the region’s economic life. Much attention was paid to arrangement and implementation of agricultural work, the most difficult matter was lack of draught animals. Deadlines and terms for obligatory delivery of agricultural products were constantly reiterated. Issues related to the social sphere: bread rationing, accommodation of refugees, orphans, and homeless children, their provision with food supplies were mentioned. There are rare references to schools and hospitals mentioning the shortage of funds for their reconstruction and heating. At the meetings ideological work with the attendees was carried out, resulting in moral and material rewards for those who collaborated with Nazis. The commandant constantly reminded of the necessity for recruitment of reliable persons to auxiliary forces and warfare units. Thus, the study of the records shows that top-priority tasks of the invaders were maintaining order and supplying resources to the German army.

Since the invention of the printing press, text has been the predominate mode for collecting, storing and disseminating a vast, rich range of information. With the unprecedented increase of electronic storage and dissemination, document collections have grown rapidly, increasing the need to manage and analyze this form of data in spite of its unstructured or semistructured form. Text-data analysis (Hearst, 1999) has emerged as an interdisciplinary research area forming a junction of a number of older fields like machine learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval (Grobelnik, Mladenic, & Milic-Frayling, 2000). It is sometimes viewed as an adapted form of a very similar research field that has also emerged recently, namely, data mining, which focuses primarily on structured data mostly represented in relational tables or multidimensional cubes. This article provides an overview of the various research directions in text-data analysis. After the “Introduction,” the “Background” section provides a description of a ubiquitous text-data representation model along with preprocessing steps employed for achieving better text-data representations and applications. The focal section, “Text-Data Analysis,” presents a detailed treatment of various text-data analysis subprocesses such as information extraction, information retrieval and information filtering, document clustering and document categorization. The article closes with a “Future Trends” section followed by a “Conclusion” section.

Ecological tourism is considered as a form of nature-oriented tourism, the purpose of which is the cognition and protection of nature and the environment that does not violate the integrity of the ecological system, the conservation of natural resources and the socio-economic development of tourist areas. Ten problems that restrain ecological tourism in Russia are revealed. For the regional analysis, the Pskov region, rich in tourist and recreational resources, advantageous geopolitical position, bordering the three states with four regions of our country, was chosen. It is especially emphasized that ecological tourism today, being a complex interdisciplinary area, ensures a close intertwining of the interests of tourism and ecology economy, as well as culture and social sphere. Ecotourism appeared at the beginning of the XXI century, but already has an impact on the economies of countries and regions, and also activates the movement for the protection and protection of the environment. In conclusion, it is proposed to pay special attention to such tourism objects as museum-reserves, museum-manors located in the old small towns of the region, which are traditional tourism centers.
