The authors summarized the extensive experience of reconstruction of buildings taking into account the superstructure. A visual full-scale inspection of the actual technical condition of the main bearing and enclosing structures of a non-residential one-storey building was carried out. The possibility of superstructure on the floor of the building using lightweight structural elements of high rigidity is considered. According to the results of the survey, an assessment of the technical condition of the structures is given. The General satisfactory condition of the foundations, walls, internal supports, building covering was revealed. Unacceptable deflections of plates, cracks in the plates and between them are not fixed. However, in the wall at row G has haphazardly small cracks on external verst masonry, which appeared likely to result from the soaking of the masonry from leaks from the roof and changes in temperature and humidity. At the moment, the cracks have stabilized, the leaks have been eliminated. The calculations of the foundations of the test conditions of the stress under the foot and stress check given add-in. Conclusions and recommendations are formulated. For the wall on the axis G in the process of construction and operation must be monitored. In case of activation of development of constructive cracks to solve a question of possible strengthening.

The article presents the issues of repair works in a multi-family residential building, whose structural and non – structural elements have been damaged and destroyed by a gas explosion and the fire. Gas explosions in residential buildings constitute a small percentage of the total number of building disasters, however, due to the relatively large number of injured people, these incidents are very dangerous [1]. Moreover, the gas explosion often leads to significant material losses and fatalities. Proper assessment of the load-bearing structure after such incident requires an extensive knowledge of the behaviour of structures. The first authority, that issues a decision regarding further use is Construction Supervision Inspector. Until the demolition of the object is ordered, the next step is to provide expert report made by an authorized construction expert, whose aim is to assess the technical condition of the elements of the structure and to determine the scope of necessary repair works. Construction expert, who give such opinion during the assessment of objects immediately after such incident, often has limited access to structural elements, moreover these elements often are covered. Hence, the recommendations contained in these reports often do not include all of required construction works.

The research presented in the article, which includes methods, models, and conclusions, contains synthetic and analytical model solutions concerning the problems of the technical maintenance and wear of residential buildings with a traditional construction. The cause and effect relationships between the occurrence of damage in the elements of tenement houses (treated as proof of their maintenance conditions), and the size of the technical wear of these elements were determined using a representative and purposefully selected sample of 102 residential buildings erected during the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Wroclaw’s “Downtown” district. Quantitative damage analysis, which was carried out using empirical (visual) methods of assessing the technical condition of a building, indicates the type and size of damage to the building’s elements that are characteristic for the relevant maintenance conditions. Research concerning the cause–effect relationships (“damage–technical wear”) in observed states allows for a numerical approach to the impact of building maintenance conditions on the degree of the technical wear of its components. The maintenance and exploitation conditions determine the degree of the technical wear of the elements of an old residential building. The exploitation condition of these buildings is manifested by damage to elements caused by water and moisture penetration, which is especially important for poorly maintained buildings. The article shows that the age of the elements of an old residential building with a traditional construction is of secondary importance in the process of the intensity of losing its serviceability value. It was calculated that no more than 30% of the damage of building components is explained by the passage of time, and it is therefore not age that determines the course of the technical wear of the elements of the analyzed tenement houses.

ETABS stands for Extended Three-Dimensional Analysis of Building Systems. ETABS is commonly used to analyze: Skyscrapers, concrete structures, low and high rise buildings, and portal frame structures. The case study in this paper mainly emphasizes on structural behavior of multi-storey building for different plan configurations like rectangular, C, L and I-shape. Modelling of 15-storeys R.C.C. framed building is done on the ETABS software for analysis ETABS issue, for analysis and design for building systems. ETABS features are contain powerful graphical interface coupled with unmatched modeling, analytical, and design procedures, all integrated using a common database. STAAD and ETABS both of the software are well equipped and very much capable of handling different shape of the structures, static and dynamic loadings and different material properties.

The article suggests an approach to determine structural elements technical condition, based on the mathematical probabilistic apparatus of technical diagnostics. Diagnostics are performed using probabilistic methods of complex technical systems conditions recognition. Probabilistic parameters are calculated according to Bayes’s rule. The paper shows a diagnostics example of intermediate floor elements and systems in the old urban development building. Both the suggested method and information theory methods are used during diagnostics.

In the article assumptions of the developed non-invasive method of evaluation technical condition of selected structural elements of the ship's diesel-electric set at limited monitoring susceptibility, when the engine is not equipped with indicator valves, are discussed. The method is based on simultaneous measurements of phase-to-phase voltage of the synchronous generator, exhaust gas pressures in the exhaust manifold, and vibration accelerations of some parts of the set. To the purpose of the accomplishment all measurements of energetic parameters at the same time, it turned out to be necessary to design and construct the measured quantity converter. In the paper requirements in relation to such a converter, technical project, and representative results of measurements conducted on a real object – diesel-electric set type ZE400/52 – are presented.

The analysis of systems of storm and household Sewerage on the basis of research of some technical, organizational and economic aspects of activity of systems is carried out. It is shown that at the moment the problem of wastewater treatment is extremely relevant. It is established that many companies discharge a large amount of waste water, which is not actually treated in local reservoirs. It is revealed that in the studied area in the Russian Federation as a whole and in the Sverdlovsk region, in particular, there is a failure to comply with the standards of treatment facilities. The key reasons for this situation are the following main factors: physical deterioration of the equipment, unsatisfactory technical condition of treatment facilities; mismatch of the composition of incoming wastewater and treatment systems; lack of wastewater treatment facilities; under-load on hydraulics and uneven flow of wastewater; violation of technical and technological modes of operation of treatment facilities; untimely carrying out of repair and restoration works, replacement of the failed equipment, units and parts; lack of sufficient financing of the industry, financing on the «residual principle»; lack of highly qualified personnel for the implementation of competent operation of treatment facilities; etc. The authors believe that in order to improve the quality of wastewater discharged, reduce their impact on water bodies, reduce the volume of wastewater emissions, the following priority measures are needed: construction of new, reconstruction and expansion of existing treatment facilities; construction of local treatment facilities, post-treatment units; commissioning of recycling and re-water supply systems; identification of additional sources of financing for the treatment facilities system, including through concession agreements, the creation of private-public partnerships; formation of «the state order» and allocation of target budgetary places in colleges and higher education institutions on training in the specialties connected with housing and communal services, water consumption and water disposal.

Paper specifies the wood-framed with sheathing construction including phases of realization and exploitation. Methods of investigation based on practice and theory has been employed where practical identification of processes and their phases were presented with theoretical description of structure deformation within the exploitation period. Obtained results of investigations are presented in the form of technologic and mechanic of structure diagrams for buildings with adequate algorithms of analysis. Paper presents practical systematic of construction stages, technological problems and hazards in respect of loading and construction technology with method of computation of vertical deformations of building. Paper presents evaluation of contribution of wood defects in response to loading in the wood-framed residential building in exploitation process. Location of knots, allocation of pith in the elements cross section, defects of slope of grain and influence of moisture decreasing is examined in the paper. The wood-framed with sheathing in the form of large panel or modular three dimensional 3D elements are the most often used technology. This kind of buildings are actually constructed up to four story as a multifamily or varying universal buildings like school, kid-garden or offices. Low dead load from 0.30 to 1.00 kN/m2 and its favorable proportion to the live load increase energy saving factor in realization and within the exploitation time. Low own weight of structure enables complete prefabrication of wall, floor and roof panels, improving quality of construction and shortening time of construction. Process of prefabrication, wide assortment and variety of factory production does not require time consuming processes and complicated moulds or shuttering indispensable in precast RC structural elements.

The article presents the results of research in the field of ensuring the performance of complex technical objects on the example of transport and technological machines (TTM), which include transport equipment, as well as technological machines (excavators, loaders and other equipment that performs a technological process). The strategy of forming a system of maintenance and repairs taking into account the technical condition of TTM elements is described. The strategy provides for the division of structural elements of machines into four groups, depending on the principle approach to calculating the frequency of their repair. The criterion for determining the frequency of repairs is the probability of reaching the maximum values of characteristics during the inter-repair period, as well as the degree of criticality of the consequences of possible failure of the element.
