The porous asphalt mixture is a new generation of flexible pavement that is able to pass water in the upper layer (wearing course) both vertically and horizontally. The porous asphalt layer effectively provides more safety, especially when it rains to avoid aquaplaning which causes roughness of the surface to be more rough. Therefore, at this time there are many studies on the use of alternative materials to replace the limited natural materials with materials that can be utilized. The results showed that porous asphalt mixture with used tire crumb as a fine aggregate mixture had an increase in flow value of 6.32% with a decrease in stability value by 27.52% and a decrease Marshall Quotient value at 31.82%. The testing of roughness is increased by 17.71% and Mu-Meter 24.14%. This research is effective in overcoming environmental problems which include processing tire waste of 3.03 tons for 1 km of road pavement construction work.

The article reviews the stability of an automobile on the road pavement with ruts. The problems of road safety depend on many factors. One of those is the quality of the road surface. Big heavy lorries deform the road surface causing ruts especially in the first line of the road. The article analyzes the influence of the geometry of ruts on the stability of the automobile. A mathematical model of a 3D automobile and the interaction between wheels and the road surface and the geometry of the road surface are presented. The mathematical criterion of the stability of the moving automobile on the road surface with ruts is laid down. The results of mathematical simulation and the criterion of the stability of the moving automobile (60 km/h) on the road surface depending on the depth of ruts are introduced.

The paper characterizes the porous asphalt mixture used in pavement construction. This kind of pavement can reduce traffic noise and reduce the slipperiness of the road pavement. The effectiveness of the porous asphalt depends on many design and technological aspects, but especially on the air-void clearance in the pavement layer. The paper includes the results of water permeability research based on laboratory tests of specimens from actual road pavement. The research shows the differences between the contamination of the road pavement sections located inside and outside the city. The paper includes recommendations for using porous asphalt based on experiences under Polish conditions.

The most common causes of road damage are the design life of the road that has been passed, waterlogging on the road due to poor drainage, or even traffic load which can cause the service life of the road to be shorter than planned. To find out the conditions on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. Calculates the value of road pavement conditions calculated using the Indeks Kondisi Perkerasan (IKP) on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. To find out what kind of treatment we should do for the damage that occurs. The Indeks Kondisi Perkerasan is a quantitative indicator of pavement conditions that has a range of values ranging from 0 – 100, with a value of 0 representing the worst pavement condition while 100 representing the best pavement condition. The IKP method has a level of handling type for each IKP value. According to the IKP guidelines, the type of handling that must be carried out with an average IKP value of 96,32 is routine maintenance. For further research, it’s necessary to conduct a direct survey, so that accurate results can be obtained. It is necessary to study with various methods to be able to compare the level of accuracy of a method.

Today the use of Construction and Demolition Materials (CDM) can be considered as a suitable solution for the construction or the rehabilitation of road pavements. In this context, it is central to minimizing waste production, favoring the reuse through new production cycles to replace virgin natural raw materials. As illustrated in this study, steel slag has mechanical properties that justify its use as aggregate in the manufacture of bituminous mixes. In road construction, their use is focused on the substitution of fine aggregate and filler in bituminous mixtures. Mechanical characterizations, Marshall stability and indirect tensile resilient modulus (ITSM) tests were used to evaluate the laboratory performance of the mixtures. The research aims are to provide the use of these materials for the construction of the entire road pavement structure; in this study authors used these materials both in the characterization of cementitious layers and in those with bituminous conglomerate. In both cases, the use of steel slag has favored an increase of stiffness in the mixtures.

Improvement in transportation system is never been as easy as just providing links for better connection and network but more to do with the pavement quality of the road itself. Modification with agriculture waste is just another approach to enhance the performance of asphaltic concrete. In this study, a non-traditional bitumen modifier from a coconut shell which is the charcoal coconut shell ash (CCSA) was used. Addition of CCSA in bitumen with 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% by weight of bitumen were investigated along with the laboratory stimulation of aging was applied in this study. Properties of modified asphalt mixture were determined using resilient modulus, dynamic creep and Marshall Stability test.. Results of samples with CCSA which underwent aging show some improvement in terms of the stability and permanent deformation characteristics. Resilient modulus, dynamic creep and Marshall Stability tests recorded the highest rates when compared to controlled sample. Hence, for more durable asphalt concrete and high serviceability it is recommended to use 2% to 4% of CCSA.

Road safety has become a serious issue in both developed and developing countries, costing billions of dollars every year. Road accidents at nighttime especially in low illumination situations are common and severe and have gained a lot of attention. To improve visibility and avoid traffic accidents, a series of efforts have been made but the existing mechanism is facing continuous challenges and highlighting a need for smart highways with high efficiency, road safety, and strength. In this study, the use of radium polymer beads (RPB) is proposed to avoid road accidents. The effect of RPB was investigated by comparing the results of the beads’ surface and modified asphalt mixtures using the three-stage testing methodology. Utilizing the circular economy, RPB have been introduced as a solution to the problem. Results indicated that in the first phase, the addition of RPB on the mixture surface improved the mechanical performance of the road pavement and helped in avoiding road accidents due to their ability to absorb the light from the source and then reflect in the night. Moreover, the mechanical properties using Marshall stability standard parameters (stability 9 kN and flow 2–4 mm range) were fulfilled as a standard testing requirement. The proposed radium bead layer can reduce road accidents and provide a direction towards future smart highways by using new reflective materials in road construction.

As road transport is the predominant type of transport for the traffic of people, vehicles and cargo, it is extremely important to ensure the quality of the country's road pavement. Good pavement ensures comfort, safety and economy to road users. There are several types of coatings to be used depending on the project, the traffic demand of the road to be paved and others. Thus, the main objective of this research is to show the feasibility of using cold premixed asphalt in the city of Coari, municipality of the interior of Amazonas. For this, an investigation was conducted in bibliographies, in order to support the study. A budget based on DNIT unit cost compositions was made to compare the costs required to apply this asphalt mix with hot-machined concrete, as this is the most commonly used for pavement construction. Checking the advantages and disadvantages of its use to evaluate its application in the municipality in question. As the cold premix showed to meet most of the requirements for good paving, having a better cost-benefit ratio, it was found that it can be used on low and medium traffic roads, bringing several positive aspects in operational issues. and economical.
