As more libraries offer patron access to the Internet and other on-line services, they must consider the needs of patrons with disabilities who will be using their Internet links either from the library or from remote sites. In planning and implementing technological improvements to optimize access for all patrons, librarians and information specialists must take into account questions of both physical and intellectual access to electronic information. This paper addresses these issues from a pragmatic perspective, reviewing available options and suggesting strategies for improving access for people with various disabilities.

An on-line information service, the Telemedicine Information Exchange TIE , was established to provide a comprehensive source of telemedicine information. The TIE comprised a number of frequently updated, searchable, linked databases, each dealing with an important aspect of telemedicine. These included an extensive bibliography on telemedicine consisting of more than 2000 citations, many with abstracts. There was also a series of topical sections describing current telemedicine projects, products and services, legislation, funding, research activities, and news in the field. The TIE was designed to exploit the features of electronic information storage: hypertext linking between related pieces of information; specialized views technical, legal, and business of the bibliographic database; and usage monitoring to determine which data were most frequently accessed and therefore where any enhancement should be done. The TIE was made available via the World Wide Web, by remote telnet access over the Internet, and via modem. The rapid increase in the usage of the TIE since its introduction in April 1995 indicated that the TIE satisfied a need in the telemedicine community.

Pediatrics electronic pages, the official on-line journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, will appear on the World Wide Web beginning in January 1997. This Internet publication represents a commitment by the Academy to provide its members and other health professionals with access to a state-of-the-art electronic information tool in the field of pediatrics. In partnership with HighWire Press of Stanford University, the Academy will strive to develop this new medium of scientific communication to meet the needs of both clinicians and scientists. The Internet has the potential to transform scientific communication; its impact may be as profound as the invention of the printing press.

The Internet has become entrenched in the U.S. economy over the last 15 years;access and use of the Internet has increased for all regions of the United States, most types of households and work places, and all income groups. In this chapter we explore how access technologies may affect household on-line activity patterns and address some of the aspects that differentiate urban and rural household Internet use. Rural households are less likely than urban households in having broadband Internet access but this varies regionally across the country. Study suggests that broadband Internet access is no longer perceived a luxury, but as a necessity and that there is pent-up demand for broadband Internet access in rural areas.

The Information SuperHighway, Email, The Internet, FTP, BBS, Modems, : all buzz words which are becoming more and more routine in our daily life. Confusing terminology? Hopefully it won't be in a few minutes, all you need is to have a handle on a few basic concepts and terms and you will be on-line with the rest of the "telecommunication experts". These terms all refer to some type or aspect of tools associated with a range of computer-based communication software and hardware. They are in fact far less complex than the instruments we use on a day to day basis as microscopist's and microanalyst's. The key is for each of us to know what each is and how to make use of the wealth of information which they can make available to us for the asking. Basically all of these items relate to mechanisms and protocols by which we as scientists can easily exchange information rapidly and efficiently to colleagues in the office down the hall, or half-way around the world using computers and various communications media. The purpose of this tutorial/paper is to outline and demonstrate the basic ideas of some of the major information systems available to all of us today. For the sake of simplicity we will break this presentation down into two distinct (but as we shall see later connected) areas: telecommunications over conventional phone lines, and telecommunications by computer networks. Live tutorial/demonstrations of both procedures will be presented in the Computer Workshop/Software Exchange during the course of the meeting.

Connecting to the  electronic information network (internet) became the most characteristic that distinguish this era However , the long hours which young men daily spend on the internet On the other hand ,there are many people who are waiting for the chance to talk and convince them with their views This will lead the young people to be part in the project of the “cyber armies “that involved with states and terrorist organizations  This project has been able  to recruitment hundreds of people every day to work in its rank . It is very difficult to control these websites because we can see the terrorist presence in all its forms in the internet   In addition there are many incubation environments that feed in particular the young people minds                                                                                         Because they are suffering from the lack of social justice Also the unemployment, deprivation , social and political repression So , that terrorist organizations can attract young people through the internet by convincing them to their views and ideas . So these organizations will enable to be more  stronger.

The divide between those who have computer and Internet access and those who do not appears to be narrowing, however overall statistics may be misleading. Measures of computer availability in schools often include cases where computers are only available for administration or are available only on a very limited basis (Gootman, 2004). Access to a computer and the Internet outside of school helps to reinforce student learning and emphasize the importance of using technology. Recent U.S. statistics indicate that ethnic background and other demographic characteristics still have substantial impact on the availability and use of computers by students outside of the classroom. This paper examines recent census data to determine the impact of the household on student computer use outside of the classroom. Encouragingly, the findings of this study suggest that use of a computer at school substantially increases the chance that a student will use a computer outside of class. Additionally, this study suggests that computer use outside of the classroom is positively and significantly impacted by being in a household with adults who either use a computer at work or work in an industry where computers are extensively used.

Abstract: For the post millennial generation the use of the internet is very familiar but with various purposes of use. This study wants to look at the relationship between the use of the internet by residents who are currently in school for the sake of completing school work in Indonesia to get good learning outcomes. Analysis based on secondary data from the 2018 National Socio-Economic Survey. It's just that the data obtained is not symmetrical with outliers. Quantile regression is used to minimize the effect of outliers. The study found that there was a close relationship between internet access from residents who were in school and completion of school work. The quantile regression results show that the proportion of internet access for completing school work differs between groups of proportions of internet use. A high proportion of internet use will be used for completing higher school work.

The steam turboset is the key equipment of the electric power system. Thus, it is very important and necessary to monitor and diagnose the running condition and the faults of the steam turboset for the safe and normal running of the electric power system. In this paper, the Internet/Intranet based remote condition monitoring and fault diagnosis scheme is proposed. The corresponding technique and methods are discussed in detail. And a real application system is developed for the 300MW steam turboset. In this scheme, the system is built on the Internet/Intranet and the Client/Server construction and Web/Server model are adopted. The proposed scheme can guarantee real-time data acquisition and on-line condition analysis simultaneously. And especially, the remote condition monitoring and fault diagnosis can be implemented effectively. The developed system has been installed in a power plant of China. And the plant has obtained great economic benefits from it.
