Divorce is not only an impact to the concerned, but also involves children, especially those entering adolescence, divorce is an individual burden to the child so that it affects the psychic. Contemporary changes and continuities in marriage and family life can be understood by focusing on women. Five main patterns may make sense of these phenomena: women's continued identification with and absorption within the family system; negotiation within marriage; a feminised conception of love; an attempt to transform the structural and cultural parameters of marriage and family life; and an uncoupling of the traditional sequence of marriage, sexual activity and procreation. These patterns are not mutually exclusive, but may be differentially adopted by women at different life-stages and from different social classes. It is argued that women are involved in these various responses in an attempt to deal with the reality of the institutional structure of marriage within a social and cultural context which is not always responsive to their needs and interests.

A juvenile parolee most often returns to the same environment that initially gave rise to his delinquent behavior. Efforts to modify this environment, particularly the family, are often futile. Therefore, an effort was made to modify the youth's perception of his environment through the manipulation of his peer group. The program of group counseling and the underlying assump tions are discussed, and certain of the techniques employed are described. Among these are role-playing, individual counseling, and actual instruction and practice in specific aspects of social interaction. This experiment suggests that parolees respond positively to this type of group counseling and that the use of the group facilitates the process of modifying the youths' attitudes and behavior.
