The integrated cattle and oil palm system is part of an excellent program of the Bangka Tengah Regency to increase the production of plantation and livestock. The benefit of the system is ensuring the availability of the animal feed derived from oil palm plantation waste while the feces of cattle is potential in producing the fertilizer for oil palm. The community service aims to alter the paradigm of the society on the integrated cattle and oil palm system as well as to empower the people to implement the system. Four steps were used as the methods to implement the programs are preparation; socialization; simulation; and monitoring and evaluation. Qualitative descriptive was employed to analyze the data. The program found that 90% of stock farmers agreed that the system was easily doable. The stock farmers were able to use the probio_Fm technology in implementing the system by making the silage made from the oil palm plantation waste. The knowledge of beneficiaries had increased and their behavior in feeding activities had positively altered through the program. It was found that the livestock required a week to adapt to the silage as the fermented materials in the probio-Fm technology. The use of a chopping machine was able to be a choice as it was able to produce the smoother chopped midrib. It concludes that the system is sustainably used to be implemented by Tunas Baru stock farmer.

One important issue in the expansion of oil palm plantations in Indonesia is the massive escalative conflict between plantation companies and affected communities. This article discusses the conflict management by an oil palm plantation company, PT Asam Jawa. Using Lewis Coser's safety valve theory, this article presents the analysis of research about the impacts of the CSR program implemented by PT Asam Jawa on the dynamics of conflict between affected people and the company. The question answered is whether the application of CSR can be an alternative effort to manage conflicts between PT Asam Java and people affected, happening since the company started its operations. The results showed that although PT Asam Jawa implemented an extensive CSR program, the CSR program carried out by PT Asam Jawa did not function as a safety valve, because the people who were in conflict with companies related to the land used by PT Asam Jawa  were excluded by the company as recipients of CSR funds.

The objectives of this study was to determine soil fertility and types of plants in understorey ecosystems in oil palm plantation stand which are managed in different ways. The data collection method was a direct observation on smallholder oil palm plantation at 15 years of age with different management, namely: 1) weed control using herbicides, 2) without management, and 3) used for beef cattle grazing. The data consisted of soil fertility and identification of understorey species in each management. The soil samples were taken in a composite manner and analyzed in the laboratory, while the plant species samples were gathered using the 1x1 m2 method and identified using an identification manual. From the results, weed control in oil palm plantation with cattle grazing has a positive impact on soil fertility compared to the use of herbicides and without control. The diversity of understorey species in cattle grazing locations is less, namely, as much as 11 species compared to the use of herbicides (15 species) and without control (22 species). Weed management by grazing cows in the oil palm plantation increased land fertility and the dominance of understorey plants as a source of animal feed.

This Community Service Program is motivated by the large number of lands that have changed their function as both residential land and plantation land in the village of Mulyoharjo, especially oil palm plantations. The plantations produce palm oil waste which is largely unused, including oil palm fronds. In addition, the impact of these plantations is the reduction in open land used by cattle farmers as animal feed. Therefore the STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau PKM Team tried to apply the use of palm fronds as an alternative to cattle feed. Palm fronds are one of the byproducts or can be said to be waste from oil palm plantations. The abundant amount of palm midrib can be used as animal feed. Palm midrib itself Has nutritional content that is 48.78% dry matter, crude protein 5.3%, hemicellulose 21.1%, cellulose 27.9%, crude fiber 31.09%, ash 4.48%, BETN 51.87 %, lignin 16.9% and silica 0.6%. This activity has been carried out by involving partners namely the people of Mulyoharjo Village and was followed with enthusiasm. The output targets to be achieved by the PKM team are the improvement of community values and publications. In practice, using theoretical and practical methods begins with the preparation, material and practice of making cattle feed from palm fronds.
