The aim of the research: study the features of surgical treatment of epidermoids.Materials and methods. We present a literature review and the clinical case of surgical treatment of a patient with epidermoid. We have searched medical databases: Medline, Russian Science Citation Index, EMedicine, United Medical Knowledge Base. We considered the features of the clinic, diagnosis, and surgical intervention. The article presents a clinical example of successful surgical treatment of a patient with an epidermoid cyst of the posterior cranial fossa. The result of the literature review was the writing of a clinical lecture; the current state of the issue of etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and management of patients with epidermoids was studied.Results. The authors found that total microsurgical removal is the method of choice, and the operative technique should be aimed at preventing postoperative aseptic meningitis. Although it was not possible to establish the cause of the development of aseptic meningitis, the authors assume that the mechanism of its formation lies in the self-breaking of the capsule of the epidermoid cyst, probability of which was confirmed by a number of studies. Further study of this pathology is a promising direction in neurosurgery.Conclusion. Difficulties in the diagnosis and choice of surgical tactics point at the need for detailed preoperative planning of surgical intervention, performing a precise total removal of a lesion with compliance with preventive measures for aseptic meningitis to improve clinical results and reduce the incidence of perioperative complications.

It is presented care report of the patient with liver alveococcosis. Survey confirmed parasitic invasion of both liver lobes. Radical alveococcectomy was impossible under these conditions since remnant liver volume was less than 30%. Treatment was divided into two stages. Moreover, it was decided to perform cryodestruction of parasitic tumor besides surgical intervention per se. Liver resection combined with cryodestruction of remnant parasitic tumor may be considered as radical treatment especially in redo surgery. Diagnosis, treatment, outcomes and literature review are comprehensively described in the article.

Blepharoptosis is currently a serious pathology, the treatment of which does not always bring a satisfactory result. The article provides a review of the literature, describes the methods of surgical treatment of this ophthalmopathology. Each method is distinguished by indications, outcomes, efficiency. The method of surgical intervention depends on the cause of ptosis, the function of the levator muscle, the patient's age, visual acuity and a number of other indicators, but the main criteria are the degree of preservation of the levator function and lowering of the upper eyelid. The classic algorithm for treating patients with blepharoptosis involves shortening the levator or suspending the muscle that raises the upper eyelid to the eyebrow. Key words: ptosis of the upper eyelid, resection of the levator, function of the levator, operations of suspending type.

In 2014, the United States, the European Union (EU) countries and some other states have imposed economic sanctions against Russia. The overcoming of sanctions requires an understanding of their effectiveness. Thus, we aimed to identify factors of the effectiveness of economic sanctions by reviewing the literature that considers sanctions as a tool for transforming the current national policies. The applied methodology of the systematic literature review (SLR) includes the following stages: 1) determining a basic sample of publications based on a keyword search in Web of Science, Scopus, Russian Science Citation Index, SSRN, EBSCO, Ideas/RePec, Google Scholar, Cambridge University Press, Routledge, De Gruyter JSTOR, Springer, Taylor & Francis; 2) identifying a representative sample based on the authors’ criteria (type of publication, language, character, content and context); 3) synthesising the representative sample; 4) reporting the research results. A method of comparative and graphical analysis was used to present the findings. The analysis of relevant literature allowed us to conclude that economic sanctions are more effective if 1) sanction costs for a target country are higher than for a sender, including those occurring as a result of regional inequality; 2) sanctions are designed as a short-term measure; 3) sanctions are multilateral and imposed by international institutes, including through regional trade agreements; 4) sanctions are targeted at democratic regimes. Moreover, the most preferred type of sanction — targeted (smart) sanctions — are less effective in achieving their goals than traditional comprehensive ones. Further review studies may focus on targeted economic sanctions (first and foremost in Russia) and include publications, analysing case studies of individual countries and industries.

Relevance. Shoulder instability covers a wide range of pathology, there is a fairly high level of its prevalence with a tendency to increase in military personnel.Intention. To assess a comprehensive diagnostic and preoperative planning algorithm taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient in order to optimize the choice of effective treatment approach.Methodology. The object of the study was scientific articles indexed in the abstract-bibliographic database of the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and the international database Scopus in 2005-2019.Results and Discussion. The main approaches to assessing intra-articular injuries are analyzed, which are fundamental for choosing the optimal individual treatment approach, including the interpretation of risk factors for unsuccessful clinical outcomes and recurrence. The data on the clinical effectiveness of the main methods of surgical treatment of pathology and the prospects for their development are summarized. The most common types of complications, risk factors for their occurrence are highlighted. The concept of surgical treatment of anterior shoulder instability notes the technological and scientific improvement of diagnostic and planning methods in order to obtain the most complete objective clinical picture and verification of risk factors for selecting optimal and personalized surgical modalities.Conclusion. The development of promising treatment technologies, including additive ones, will allow reaching a qualitatively new level of medical care, increasing efficiency and reducing the risk of complications.

Studying an opportunity to optimize the treatment of the patients with severe traumatic brain injuries is a topical issue in modern neurosurgery. Traumatic tension pneumocephalus is one of life-threatening conditions which accompanies severe TBI and is often complicated with posttraumatic liquorrhea and mass effect. Materials and methods. We carried out systematic search in Russian and foreign medical databases (Medline, Russian Science Citation Index, EMedicine, UMKB) concerning our theme. We included the following words in our search request: tension pneumocephalus, mass effect, valve mechanism, treatment. The result of conducted review of literature was writing the clinic lecture, studying current status of the problem of etiopathogenesis, diagnostics and surveillance of the patients with tension pneumocephalus. The article presenas clinical case of successful surgical treatment of a patient with traumatic tension pneumocephalus. Conclusion. There are no uniform standards of urveillance of the patients with tension pneumocephalus. Based on our own experience, we determined that minimally invasive surgery is a method of choice among reconstructive craniofa-cial surgeries in the treatment of patients with traumatic tension pneumocephalus. It decreases the risks of intra- and postoperative complication. Compliance, using external ventricular drainage and repeated lumbar punctures with prevention of inflammatory complications helped stopping nasal liquorrhea and eliminating mass effect which caused absolute regression of neurological signs

In this paper we attempt to classify Russian journals in economics and related disciplines for their scientific significance. We show that currently used criteria, such as a journal’s presence in the Higher Attestation Committee’s list of journals and the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) impact factor, are not very useful for assessing the academic quality of journals. Based on detailed data, including complete reference lists for 2010—2011, we find significant differentiation of Russian journals, including among those located at the top of the RSCI list. We identify two groups of Russian journals, tentatively called category A and B journals, that can be regarded as the most important from the viewpoint of their contribution to the economic science.

The article presents the results of the rating of Russian economic journals, the methodology of which is based on a combination of bibliometric data and expert interviews. Processing of the statistical information system of Russian science citation index (RINC) allows us to form a “primary” list of the best journals in the country. Expert evaluation of the list makes it possible to reorganize it with regard to the scientific level of periodicals and get the “secondary” list. The merger of two ranking systems forms the basis of obtaining the final ranking of economic journals. It is shown that the leading part of the constructed rating forms a kind of the Diamond List of journals, which on the whole agrees with similar lists obtained in earlier studies by other authors.

Twenty two science Russian periodicals in informatics and library studies are selected for the bibliometrical analysis of key journal indicators, including publication activity of the same journals’ editorial staff. For the first time for domestic journals, the study reveals hidden self-citation when editorial members include links to their journal from other publications. The available instruments of scientometrical databases, including Web of Science and Scopus, and the national system Russian Science Citation Index do not enable to identify this form of self-citation. The mentioned manipulations are aimed at boosting journal rating. In several cases, intensive and unjustified citation by journals’ editorial staff in other periodicals which we consider the violation of publication ethical principles, is revealed.
