As the third largest coffee producing country in the world after Brazil and Vietnam, Indonesia is able to produce at least 748 thousand tons or 6.6% of coffee production in 2012. Of this amount, Robusta coffee production reached more than 601 thousand tons (80.4% ) and arabica coffee production reached more than 147 thousand tons (19.6%) .The area of coffee plantation in Indonesia reaches 1.3 million hectares (ha) with Robusta coffee plantation area reaches 1 million ha and arabica coffee plantation area reaches 0 , 30 ha. The use of technology in the cultivation of coffee cultivation in Indonesia, especially smallholder plantations is still minimal technology. Expert system approach by using certainty factor method to overcome uncertainty in identifying nutrient deficiency in coffee plant try to give solution that can be used by coffee farmer especially in smallholder plantation in sidical area of karo regency of north sumatera. By doing a direct observation of the leaves of coffee plants and ensure the symptoms of nutrient deficiency what actually happens in the coffee plant it is with this expert system of certainty of nutrient deficiencies can be known in detail without having to consult directly to the expert. Thus the fertilization process can be done properly, so it will affect the cost of production to a minimum.

Plantation Coffee and coconut are superior export commodities that have a high investment value in maintaining the economy and balancing the balance of plantation commodities in Indonesia. One of the obstacles that is often experienced by managers of coffee and coconut cultivation is a lack of understanding in the diagnosis of plants that are deficient in macro and micro nutrients, as the main needs for quality of the results. On the other hand, the number of plantation crop experts is relatively small. Seeing these conditions, this study has built an expert system that is able to diagnose the symptoms of nutrient deficiency in coffee and coconut plants. The expert system is built by applying the certainty factor method, so that it can overcome the problem of uncertainty in diagnosing. The percentage level of certainty is obtained from the MB and MD assessment of an expert. This expert system was built using the Expert System Development Life Cycle method. The results of this study are a web-based expert system that is suitable for use by managers of coffee and coconut cultivation in diagnosing nutrient deficiencies, so that it can be known in detail independently and can reduce production costs.

Currently the Expert system has become a field of research for computer scientists as well as agricultural scientists for applications in various information development. The Expert System can be designed to simulate one or more of the ways an agricultural expert uses his knowledge and experience in making the diagnosis and passing on the necessary recommendations regarding nutritional deficiencies. Nutrient deficiency is a lack of food for survival in plants. The nutrient content of plant parts, especially the leaves, is very relevant to be used to identify nutritional deficiencies. Provide the results of a diagnosis of nutritional deficiency to farmers to be a benchmark for improving plant nutrients and providing good nutrition for hydroponic plants. The data used are nutritional deficiency data and symptoms as well as nutritional solutions obtained from farmer data at the Payakumbuh City Agriculture Office. The method used in this expert system is the Certainty Factor (CF) method. This method provides a diagnosis in the form of certainty or uncertainty of conditions in the rules used to conclude. The results of testing this method showed as many as 12 nutritional deficiencies were detected with 41 symptoms experienced. So that it can measure the level of nutritional deficiency that occurs. Expert System in Analyzing Hydroponic Plant Nutrient Deficiency Using Certainty Factor Method can show that predictions are almost 94% accurate.

The largest area of local coffee plantation in West Sumatera Province is in the District of Solok, that covers the area around 9,300 Ha, with the annual production of  8,500 Ton. There are two varieties of coffee in this District, arabica and robusta. The area of robusta coffee is around 7,700 Ha that are much larger than arabica  of 1,600 Ha. Although the price of arabica coffee is much higher than robusta, farmers prefer to cultivate robusta coffee mainly due to its resistance to plant diseases, low maintenance cost and higher demand compare to arabica coffee. Since the Robusta coffeeisthe second largest of local plantationaftercasiaverain Solok. There is a need for the district government to get a suitable development not only for the benefit of local farmers but also for regional development of Solok district itself. This study applied descriptif qualitative method to analyze the interrelationship of agribusiness sub-systems and its potential aspect. The results shows that the interrelationship of four subsystems of the agribusiness of Robusta coffeeagribusiness were not strong enough to face the influences from the external factors of the systems. This, then guided the recommendation to improve the competitiveness ofthe Robusta coffee, mainlyby increasingthe qualityand appearance of its market form and itsdairy products. Keywords: Robusta coffee, Solok-West Sumatera, Potential Aspect

Abstract— Central nervous disease is a group of neurological disorders that affect the structure or function of the brain or spinal cord, which collectively form the central nervous system. Society in general there are still many lay people who do not understand nerve health, so many of them ignore the symptoms experienced and may be a symptom of central nervous disease. This may be due to the high cost of consultation, and not to mention doctors who are difficult to find due to time invoices. In various fields the use of technology has developed rapidly, one of which is in the field of health, one of which is the use of expert systems. Expert systems are computer programs that present and reason with the knowledge of several experts to solve problems or provide solutions. The development of technology such as expert systems is of course also supported by methods of diagnosing, such as the Certainty Factor Method. To create an expert system that can help the community in consultation about the central nervous disease experienced by the Expert System to Diagnose Human Central Nerve Disease Using the Certainty Factor Method.

A research to evaluate the difference of damage levels caused by two species nematodes, Radopholus similis and Pratylenchus coffeae on Arabica and Robusta coffee which were planted in the same endemic area have been conducted at Kalibendo (700 m asl. climate type B) and Blawan coffee estate (1200 m asl., climate type D) for two years. The results showed that in the medium highland (700 m asl.) R. similis attacked Arabica coffee with necrotic root scale higher than surface Robusta coffee. Distribution of R. similis population in the 50 cm depth below soil surface was likely with their root distribution. On the other hand P. coffeae in 30 cm depth below soil therefore their resistance to R. similis was more likely due to the escape reason, as result of their different distribution population of those species in different depth. Key words : Radopholus similis, Pratylenchus coffeae, Arabica coffee, Robusta coffee, distribution population.

Global warming is closely related with the amount of carbon stored in an ecosystem. A research to determine the amount of carbon stock in the coffee farms has been conducted in Sumberbaru and Silo Sub-districts in Jember district, Kaliwining Experimental Station (ES) in Jember district, Sumberasin ES in Malang district and Andungsari ES in Bondowoso district. Carbon stock was measured using the method of Rapid Carbon Stock’s Assessment (RaCSA) developed by ICRAF. Measurements were made on the observation plots of 200 m2, with 3 replications. Results of measurement of carbon stock on coffee plantations showed that the increased carbon stock was proportional with the age of plants. Carbon stock in coffee plantation depends on the shade tree system. In the monoculture coffee leucaena used as shade trees, the carbon stock was lower then in multistrata system (agroforestry) used several kinds of shade trees. Carbon stock on coffee plant in the estate more than smallholder. The average of carbon stock on Robusta coffee at the age of 30 years amounted to 29.38 Mg ha-1, it is greater than the carbon deposit on Arabica coffee that is 22.02 Mg ha-1.Key words: Carbon stock, coffee plantation, Arabica, Robusta, smallholder, agroforestri
