ABSTRACTOne of the parks that became a priority in the Cimahi City Park facilities and utilities development program is Kartini Park. Besides an ecological function, Kartini Park has a social function to accommodate the activities of various creative communities in the City of Cimahi. The problem arises that the park does not have a specific theme to support the community, that make Kartini park hasn’t had a special attractiveness for the society or the creative community in the neighborhood.  The purpose of this research is to evaluate the social function of Kartini Park that measured based on the three-dimensional measurement of social integration in public space : structural, interactive and subjective. The study used qualitative and quantitative methods with data collection through field observations, interviews, documentation and distribution of questionnaires to the park user community by using accidental sampling. The results based on structural dimensions in the form of accessibility indicate the location of Kartini park located in a strategic area, the types of activities carried out in the park have adjusted to zoning and have involved community participation in the interactive dimension. The subjective dimension shows the highest level of community satisfaction is the safety indicator and the lowest satisfaction level is the completeness indicator of the facility.Keywords: urban garden, social function, creative communityABSTRAKSalah satu taman yang menjadi prioritas pada program pengembangan fasilitas dan utilitas taman Kota Cimahi adalah taman Kartini. Permasalahan yang timbul menunjukkan bahwa taman tersebut belum memiliki tema yang spesifik untuk mewadahi komunitas, sehingga taman Kartini belum memiliki daya tarik khusus bagi masyarakat maupun komunitas kreatif di lingkungan sekitar. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengevaluasi fungsi sosial taman Kartini Kota Cimahi yang diukur berdasarkan tiga dimensi pengukuran integrasi sosial dalam kajian ruang publik meliputi: struktural, interaktif dan subjektif. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara, dokumentasi dan penyebaran kuesioner pada komunitas pengguna taman dengan menggunakan accidental sampling. Hasil evaluasi berdasarkan dimensi struktural berupa aksesibilitas menunjukkan lokasi taman Kartini berada pada kawasan strategis, jenis aktivitas yang dilakukan di taman telah menyesuaikan dengan zonasi dan telah melibatkan partisipasi masyarakat pada dimensi interaktif. Dimensi subjektif menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan komunita syang tertinggi adalah indikator keamanan dan tingkat kepuasan terendah pada indikator kelengkapan fasilitas.Kata Kunci: Taman Kota, Fungsi Sosial, Komunitas Kreatif

The art found in public space represents a local social and cultural situation, as well as the artistic and aesthetic tendencies. There is a close relationship between the public art and the city landscape. Public art is part of the broader visual environment of buildings, landscapes, and infrastructure. It can promote a sense of place, contribute to legibility or wayfinding, and support efforts to quality urban design. It can be in the form of sculpture, street furniture, mural, and even fountain structure. This research focuses on the user's perception and appreciation of integrated public art in the Putrajaya urban landscape. Data was collected using qualitative and quantitative methods. The case study data collections were conducted through a survey, observation, and distribution of questionnaires. The case study was carried out in the Putrajaya urban landscape. Putrajaya was selected as a case study because it is the new administrative capital of Malaysia that has seen the need to be distinctively outstanding in both its characteristics and development. Putrajaya has revealed the influence of public art in enforcing and strengthening the identity of the city. Subsequently, the recommendation has been made to enhance the planning process and management system by the local authority in the Putrajaya urban landscape. Therefore, this research will help to generate the social awareness and understanding of the effort of integrating public art into the Malaysian urban landscape. Abstract The purpose of this study is to discover the way of speaking of pupils of elementary education, their linguistic behaviour, their speech, writing and speaking. The study aims to find the slinguistic factors that affect the pupils′ way of speaking, but also to find the other factors such as social factors which affect or limit the student’s speech. The participants in the study are the pupils of elementary school, particularly the pupils of fourth and fifth grades, to study their speech, the factors that affect it and if they speak according to the standard language. The study is conducted with the pupils of the fourth grade of “Dino Ismaili” school, because there is where we both work. We also conducted a conversation with the pupils to see their way of speaking and expression of thoughts. We also filled in some questionnaires in three schools of the city of Fier. The methods that we used are a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, we used surveys and questionnires. The data of the study revealed that the factors that affect the speech are: age, gender, ethnic group, social background, family and two social factors such as social economic group and the parent’s level of education. Other factors are book reading, TV and other children programs, conversation with peers and parents etc.

AbstrakPenggunaan tipografi spasial tiga dimensi sebagai media informasi sudah lazim adanya, bahkan di kota Bandung pada setiap taman saat ini menggunakan pendekatan kreatif environmental tipografi. Ruang publik taman kota selain berperan sebagai paru-paru kota juga berperan sebagai ruang interaksi masyarakat, sangat baik untuk psikologis masyarakat dan memberikan sensasi modern. Taman kota yang ada di kota Bandung hampir sering dijumpai menggunakan pendekatan tipografi spasial Sans Serif seperti pada; Taman Tegal Lega, Taman Lansia, Taman Fotography, Taman Petpark, Taman Superhero, dan Taman lainnya. Objek tipografi sans serif tiga dimensi diamati secara deskriptif terhadap karakteristik huruf secara keterbacaan, legibility, keterlihatan dan kejelasannya dengan metode pencarian data melalui observasi objek tipografi pada display nama identitas taman. Permanfaatan tipografi sans serif pada ruang publik kota hanya bersifat fungsional sebagai penguat identitas semata tidak ditujukan sebagai penguat karakter kultural maupun simbolis. Kata kunci: ruang publik, sans serif, taman kota Bandung, tipografi spasial AbstractThe use of three-dimensional spatial typography as a medium of information was commonly used, even in the city of Bandung in every park using a creative approach to environmental typography. Apart from its role as city lungs, public space city parks also became a space for the community to interact, psychological healing in the city community, and providing a modern sensation. City parks in Bandung are often using the spatial typographic approach of Sans Serif as; Tegal Lega Park, Senior Park, Photography Park, Petpark Park, Superhero Park, and other Parks. Three-dimensional sans serif typographical objects are observed descriptively to the characteristics of letters in readability, legibilities, visibility, and clarity with data search methods through the observation of typography objects on the display of park identity names. <p><em>Livable city is a city where people can have a healthy life and have the ease of movement.. Surakarta is one of the top ten livable cities in Indonesia in 2014. Surakarta became candidate of the most comfortable and livable city in Indonesia because it shows progress in terms of infrastructure improvements, utilities, public space, accessibility, transportation, and other criteria. One of the public spaces in Surakarta which is rapidly developed is the city parks. The number of city parks in Surakarta is multiplied in the last 10 years. But many parks are eventually abandoned and not maintained, misused and damaged. This research question is how the conformity functions of city parks in Surakarta in supporting the concept of a livable city? Is the city park suitable for the concept of  livable cities in Surakarta? The aim of this study is to determine the conformity of the function of a city park in Surakarta in supporting the concept of a livable city. The research is a quantitative using scoring analysis and descriptive analysis. Scoring analysis is used to find the conformity function of city parks in Surakarta. Then the research finding is described by using the descriptive analysis. The variable of this research consists of the social activity functions, educational functions and economic functions. Based on the analysis performed, the result of this study shows only one garden is conform  in supporting the concept of a livable city, while others only quite suitable  in supporting the concept of a livable city.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong><em>: livable city, city parks, conformity, compliance function of  city parks.</em></p>

More and more digital 3D city models might evolve into spatiotemporal instruments with time as the 4th dimension. For digitizing the current situation, 3D scanning and photography are suitable tools. The spatial future could be integrated using 3D drawings by public space designers and architects. The digital spatial reconstruction of lost historical environments is more complex, expensive and rarely done. Three-dimensional co-creative digital drawing with citizens’ collaboration could be a solution. In 2016, the City of Ghent (Belgium) launched the “3D city game Ghent” project with time as one of the topics, focusing on the reconstruction of disappeared environments. Ghent inhabitants modelled in open-source 3D software and added animated 3D gamification and Transmedia Storytelling, resulting in a 4D web environment and VR/AR/XR applications. This study analyses this low-cost interdisciplinary 3D co-creative process and offers a framework to enable other cities and municipalities to realise a parallel virtual universe (an animated digital twin bringing the past to life). The result of this co-creation is the start of an “Animated Spatial Time Machine” (AniSTMa), a term that was, to the best of our knowledge, never used before. This research ultimately introduces a conceptual 4D space–time diagram with a relation between the current physical situation and a growing number of 3D animated models over time.

Purpose This study aims to describe and analyse an approach in the city of Bremen (Germany) to establish streetwork-supported tolerance zones for local open drug and alcohol scenes to reduce related disorder and nuisance in public spaces. Design/methodology/approach The qualitative methodology included systematic participant observations at public sites of drug and alcohol use, and problem-centred interviews with different groups of respondents (residents, passers-by, trades people, drug users, experts from addiction help and police). Findings In residential districts, tolerance zones were well accepted by their target group and found to reduce perceived disorder and nuisance in public space. However, their success depends on the social and spatial conditions of the chosen location, its surrounding urban infrastructure, cooperation among local actors and characteristics of drug using groups. Originality/value Usually, policing of open drug scenes focuses on repression and law enforcement. The example of Bremen suggests that streetwork-supported tolerance zones dedicated to the drug scene can substantially reduce disorder and nuisance in public space.

On March 3, 2019, an EF4 tornado devastated the rural Alabama communities of Beauregard and Smith Station, killing 23 people and causing direct injuries to another 97. This storm was unusually devastating, with twice the predicted casualty rate based on the tornado’s power, the impacted population, and impacted housing stock. In this paper, we apply qualitative methods from anthropology, geography, and planning to better understand the social context of this unusually devastating tornado. Recognizing that there are multiple formulations of the problem of disasters, we aim to highlight how interdisciplinary qualitative research can deepen our understanding of tornado disasters. Combining policy analysis, political economic critique, and ethnographic description, we seek to showcase how qualitative research enables us to interrogate and reimagine the problem of disasters. Rather than simply juxtaposing qualitative and quantitative methods, we emphasize how the heterogeneity of qualitative research methods can strengthen interdisciplinary research projects by generating dialogue about the multiple contexts relevant to understanding a social problem. While problem definition remains a central challenge to establishing a dialogue between anthropology and social work, here, we intend to extend this discussion to larger interdisciplinary collaborations. Situating the issue of problem formation within a broader ecology of qualitative inquiry, we highlight how dialogue about problem definition can, itself, produce meaningful insights into how we understand disasters.

The paper analyses the concept of space in contemporary art on the example of Suprematist Composition No. 1, Black on Grey by Kristina Leko from 2008. Referring to Malevich’s suprematism, in December 2008 Leko initiated a project of art intervention in Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb, where she intended to cover in black all commercials, advertisements, signs and names of various companies. This poetic intervention, as the artist calls it, was intended to prompt people to relativise material goods in the pre-Christmas period. However, despite the authorisation obtained from the city authorities, the companies concerned refused to remove their respective advertisements, be it for only for 24 hours, so this project has never been realised. The project, however, does exist in the virtual space, which is also public, and continues to act in the form of documentation. The non-feasibility of the intervention, or rather its invisibility on Jelačić Square, makes visible or directly indicates the ordering of the powers and the constellation of values in the social sphere, thus raising new questions. Indeed, in this way it actually enters the public space, sensitising and expanding it at the same time.

Taman Hutan Kota PLN Medan is one of important part from the city, if the park managed properly it would give a good impact to increase the quality of public space which is lead to make a positive and better contribution to people's lives who lived in the busy city like Medan. However, in reality, Taman Hutan Kota PLN cannot make a good performance as its function as public space and urban forest. To increase the level of people's happiness and develop urban quality at Medan, it is necessary to redesign Taman Hutan Kota PLN. The redesign’s purpose is to fulfill the people’s needs and hopes to this park and make better, satisfying, and responsive facilities to the user.  Redesigning Taman Hutan Kota PLN will be based on people's preferences, perceptions, and perspectives. The preference, people's opinions, and documentation on the field will help us to discover what is the real reality and important resource for redesigning process so that the final result of the new Taman Hutan Kota PLN design can be a better park not only as public space and open green space but also as an alternative recreation facility for people in Medan.
