Education is essentially the process of humanization that is capable of leading the learners to understand the reality of life in addition to positioning human beings as human beings (caliph). But in the process, the education itself precisely shackles and even resticts the way of thinking of learners. It is certainly not in accordance with the purpose of education itself. Humanization as an educational goal is never completed. That is why the study of humanistic education always finds its context. On this stand, the writer is interested in reviewing the humanistic education in the perspective of Ki Hajar Dewantara and Paolo Freire. By using a bibliography research, the sources of data obtained through the literatures explaining the biography and the thought of both Ki Hajar Dewantara and Paolo Freire are considered relevant. And by using the content analysis techniques and interpretations, this study aims to: 1. Understand the concept of humanistic education in the perspective of Ki Hajar Dewantara; 2. Understand the concept of humanistic education in the perspective of Paolo Freire; and 3. Reviewing the comparison of humanistic education of Ki Hajar Dewantara and Paolo Freire.

The real purpose of education is humanizing human beings. The most prominent thing in humanity is diversity, plurality or multiculturality. Indonesia is a country consisting of a plural society. This should be realized by all individuals in this nusantara society. Providing awareness of the existence of mulitikulturalitas or pluralism can be pursued in the educational process. For the sake of this interest, then in the educational process there must be some kind of integralization effort between forming the intellect and morality of learners. The function of integralization of moral and intellectual education is to know more about diversity then combine with knowledge and practice with morality then achieve the purposes of national education. The conclusions or findings of Freire’s and Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s analysis approach are the absence of differences in the educational portion, the absence of social classes as the limits of education, and the educator has a role as teacher not only as a facilitator but also as a identifierin diversity and be honest about the history, there is a link between learners and educators, mutual understanding, learners receive teaching, and educators learn to understand learners, and this function is summarized in education for freedom and ing ngarsho sung tuladha, ing madyo mangun karsha, tut wur handayani.

The text explains the basic concepts that constitute the foundation of the original philosophy of humanistic education, implemented within the Polish language as a subject taught at school. This concept is based on the consistently respected idea of subjectivity, and therefore has an anthropological and cultural character. Among other things, the author answers the questions of why, what and how to teach at school. Guided by the principle „my language is my world”, he encourages people to change the way of thinking about education. Proposing a new language for describing school reality, the author thoroughly and critically analyzes the language that is dominat in contemporary educational discourse – in order to draw attention to its imprecision, non-functionality or complete inadequacy – and thus to show how „the language thinks instead of us” and what negative consequences this entails in practice.

This presentation aims to explore the ubiquity of rationality in how people make choices. Historically, rationality has been conceived of as a scheme of certain values and beliefs, most often those that are compatible with a 'scientific way of thinking'. Subsequently, those who hold a different set of beliefs and  values are deemed 'irrational' or considered irreconcilably dissimilar from those who are 'rational.' What typical follows for the 'irrational' are unfavorable labels such as 'dogmatic', 'primitive', or even 'insane'. This presentation rejects these common views and offers an alternate model of rationality that depicts rationality as a template rather than a scheme of values. Rather than emphasize certain values as 'rational', this model emphasizes the role of value itself as the cornerstone of rationality. An advantage of this model is that the both the commonly considered 'rational' and 'irrational' are seen to be employing the same underlying structure in making choices; the divergence is in the values themselves and not the way of  thinking. What underlies these arguments is an aim to show that human beings are more alike than  different, no matter what kind of choices they make

This paper will examine the thoughts of Abdurrahman Mas'ud on Nondikotomik Educational Format (Humanism Religious as Paradigm of Islamic Education). Mas'ud argues, there is no separation between religious science and general science. Mas'udseems to want to compromise the general assumption between Western education which is more concerned with the knowledge aspect with Eastern education emphasizing more on the Religious aspect. The educational goal according to Abdurrahman Mas'ud is the connection between man and his God (Hablum Minallah) and between man and man (Hablum Minannas). Ultimately, education aims to enable students to become human beings, which is perfect in the eyes of human civilization and perfect in the standard of religion. Furthermore, Mas'ud is in line with the concept of religious humanism that is applied in Islamic education by emphasizing on the aspects of teachers, aspects of methods, aspects of pupils, material aspects, and evaluation aspects.
