Reading is a cognitive process of decoding symbols in order to construct or derive meaning (reading comprehension). The objective of this study is to know the application of Make a Match Techniqueto improve the students’ reading comprehension at the Eight grade students of MTs Al Fattah Banyuurip Ujungpangkah Gresik and to know whether Make a Match Technique is able to improve the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. The study was conducted at MTs Al Fattah Banyuurip Ujungpangkah Gresik. The subject of this study was 23 student. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. The research used pre-test, post-test and observation checklist.To know the students’ improvement in reading comprehension, the researcher uses instruments are test and observation checklist. From the result observation checklist it shows that teaching learning by using Make a Match technique can improve succesfully the students’ reading comprehension. The average of preliminary test is 56.82, the result of test cycle I is 73.21 and theb result of cycle II is 78.34.

<p>This action research was conducted to highlight how far the improvement of students’ reading comprehension skill after being treated by implementing QAR strategy and to find out the advantages when QAR is implemented in teaching reading comprehension. The research was organized at SMA Negeri 1 Rangkasbitung, Lebak - Banten. The subject of the research was the eleventh grade students, class IPS<sup>3</sup>. The design of it was an action research by covering three cycles, and every cycle consists of five meetings. Planning, acting, observing, and reflecting were implemented in every cycle to get a clear data. The research applied two sorts of data collecting: qualitative and quantitative data. Observation, recording, and interview were conducted to obtain qualitative data, while the quantitative data was gained through test. The research finding reflected that implementing Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy can help students in comprehending the text while answering the questions. The students were able to categorize the questions as well to avoid spending too much time while finding the answer. The implementation of QAR Strategy in teaching-learning process was getting better cycle to cycle, the students were energetic, active, enthusiastic, and felt much more confident to take a part in reading learning activity eventually. It showed that teacher’s teaching strategy had positive impact to students’ reading comprehension, and could arouse students’ motivation and participation as well to learn which greatly influenced their reading comprehension skill. It is helpful for teacher as a framework for directing questioning activities and comprehension instruction in pre-, while-, and post-reading. Implementing QAR in reading comprehension can ensure that it does not only focus on lower-level skills and question but in high level as well and it can motivate students to think critically and creatively.  Considering QAR is helpful and beneficial for both teacher and students, the institution may implement QAR for any grades and school subjects in order to make students familiar with higher-level question. Therefore, it will be no longer difficult to comprehend the text for students who have been treated by implementing QAR.</p>

This research is based on the poor ability of students to understand Arabic texts and the lack of interest in reading that is owned by students. So, the students have difficulty in understanding Arabic lessons. The problem in this research is "Is the Al-Qiroah method able to improve reading comprehension in Arabic languageand how to increase the use of the Al-Qira'ah method in reading comprehension in Arabic class lessons VII A HafshohDarul Fattah Qur'an Middle School? " while the purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the Al-Qira’ah method on reading comprehension in Arabic class VII A Hafshoh Middle School Qur'an Darul Fattah and to describe the increased use of the Al-Qira’ahmethod in reading comprehension in Arabic class VII A Hafshoh Middle School Qur'an Darul Fattah. The type of research that researchers use is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research is class VII AHafshoh Middle School Qur'an Darul Fattah amounting to 27 students. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle has four learning meetings. In this research, the average value of the students reading comprehension test in the pretest was 60.72, in the first cycle was 66.60 and in the second cycle was 82.02, with the difference in the increase in the pretest to the first cycle increasing by 5.88 points or equivalent to 9.68%. Meanwhile the first cycle to the second cycle increased by 15.42 points or equivalent to 23.15%. It can be concluded that learning by using the Al-Qiro’ah method can improve reading comprehension in Arabic class VII A Hafshoh students at Darul Fattah Qur'an Middle School.

AbstractThe main objective of this research is to improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension through Jigsaw technique at SMP 1 PSKD. This research is a classroom action research in two cycles. The research was done on April 12th, 2016 until May 24th, 2016. The subject of the research was the students of VIII class at SMP 1 PSKD. There were 27 students (13 males and 14 females). The instruments of the test are pre-test and post-test. The non instruments test are observation sheets, interview, and researcher’s diary notes. The improvement of the eighth graders’ reading comprehension scores can be seen from the result of the pre-test and post-test. The average score of the students in the pre-test was 49.03 points and in cycle 1 the average score of the students was 65.78 points. So the increase between the two tests was 16.75 or 34.16%. In the cycle 2, the average of students’ score was 75.85 points. The result of the posttest 1 was 65.78 points, so the increase from post-test 1 in cycle 1 to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 10.07 points or 15.75%. The improvement from pre-test to post-test 2 was 54.70%. In addition to the score increase, jigsaw technique can improve the students’ enthusiasm in learning reading comprehension. It can be seen from the result of the interview. The participants were interested in learning reading comprehension through jigsaw technique because jigsaw technique helped them in comprehending the text. This research was also supported by the result of researcher’s diary notes. The researcher’s diary notes shows that there were a positive changed from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that jigsaw technique could improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension at SMP 1 PSKD.   Keywords: jigsaw technique, reading comprehension

This study deals with the improving students’ speaking achievement in agreement and disagreement expressions by using problem solving strategy. The objective of this study is to find out whether students’ speaking achievement in expressing agreement and disagreement improved by problem solving strategy. The effectiveness of problem solving strategy are to make the students able to help them in solving their own and friends’ problems, especially classmates’ problem by expressing agree or disagree to the solution made and students be more active in the classroom. The findings of this study are important and useful for English teachers to improve students’ interest and ability in speaking by problem solving strategy and the researcher who wants to conduct the research related to this study. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the second grade of SMP Swasta HKBP Sidorame Medan which consisted of 38 students. The research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consisted of the four steps of an action research: planning, action, observation and reflection. The instruments for collecting data used speaking test by interview and for the quantitative data and used diary notes, observation sheet and interview sheet for qualitative data. Based on the speaking test result, the students score kept improving in every test. In the orientation test the mean of the students’ score was 22.3. In the post test cycle I the mean of the students’ score was 56.3 and in the post test cycle II the mean of the students’ score was 85. Based on the observation sheet, diary notes and interview sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. The conclusion is that Problem Solving Strategy improves students’ speaking achievement.

The study was concerned to investigate the students’ reading comprehension students of SMA Negeri 3 OKU which was taught by using Collaborative Strategic Reading. The objectives of this study was to find out the students’ reading comprehension to the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 OKU which was taught by using Collaborative Strategic Reading. The population of this study was the whole of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 OKU. The total number of the population was 258 students; and 30 students were taken as the sample through purposive sampling. The pre-test and post-test and observation were used as the techniques for collecting the data. The researcher concluded Based on the data analysis in chapter IV, the researcher found the students’ pre test score and post-test cycle I was improved from 60,89  to 72.94. Then the students’ post-test cycle I score and post-test cycle II was improved from 72,94 to 79.74. The researcher can be concluded that Collaborative Strategic Reading worked effectively and efficiently in helping the student’s reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 OKU 2018/2019 and this learning has applied successfully and able to increased students’ ability in reading comprehension. The students were more active and participated in the teaching-learning process of reading comprehension. Therefore, Collaborative Strategic Reading can be alternative strategy for teacher in teaching reading which can improve their reading comprehension ability.

The problems of this research is the students are difficult to find the information from the text. The objective of this class action research are: (1) to know how far Think-aloud strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension and; (2) to know how the process of teaching reading by using Think-Aloud Strategy at eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro in academic year 2017/2018. The method of this research is clasroom action research that consist of two cycles. The subject of this research is the students of Accounting Class eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro that consist of 30 students. The research instruments in this research are observation, interview sheets, and test. The result of the data analysis in this research are pre-test until post-test 2 that the average of pre-test was 60.93. Then, the implementation of think-aloud strategy in teaching, there is an increase of 3.65 become 64.58. Then, in the cycle 2 the average of students’ score is 80.17. Based on the teaching and learning activities, pre-test until post-test 2 are increased. From the cycle 2, It is about 80 % of the students can achieve the minimum passing criteria (KKM), so this research is success. The conclusion is the implementation of  think-aloud strategy can improve students' reading comprehension.

The main objective of this research was to find out whether students’ reading comprehensionimproved when taught using reciprocal teaching. The research method was classroom actionresearch. The subject of this research was the 35 students of class VIII B at SMP YADIKA 2,consisted of six males and twenty nine females students. The qualitative data obtained frominterview, observation, and researcher’s diary notes, while the quantitative data obtained fromthe pre – test and post – test. The result indicated that there was an improvement of students’reading comprehension. It can be seen from the mean score of the students (Pre – test: 60.21;post – test cycle 1: 74.42; and post – test cycle 2: 86.78). In addition, from the interview resultthe researcher found that the students enjoyed learning reading using reciprocal teaching. Theconclusion of the research is that reciprocal teaching technique can improve the students’ readingcomprehension. It is suggested that teachers should apply reciprocal teaching as a teachingtechnique in the classroom.Keywords: classroom action reasearch, reading comprehension, reciprocal teaching.

<p class="05IsiAbstrak">The purpose of the research was to find out the improvement of student’s reading comprehension on narrative text through directed reading and think pair share at madrasa Aliyah of Manahijul Huda Ngagel in academic years 2019/2020. This research was done by applying Classroom Action Research which carried out through four steps. They were planning, action, observation, and reflection, in cycle 1 and cycle 2. The subject of research was the grade X-MIA, they are consisted of 30 students. Based on the result of the data analysis showed that mean of the score has increased in the cycle 2, the mean in the pre-test was 63,33%, the mean of cycle 1 was 74,33%. Then the mean of cycle 2 was 84,17%. The students who got up 75 also grew up. In the pre-test, students who got up 75 were only 5 of 30 students (16,67%). In the post test of cycle 1, students who got up 75 were only 17 of 30 students (56,67%). It means that there was improvement about 40%. In the post test of cycle 2, students who got up 75 were 24 of 30 students (80%). The improvement was about 23,33%. The total improvement of the student’s score from the pre-test to post test of cycle 2 was 63,33%. So, the result of the research showed that Directed-reading and Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy significantly improved student’s reading comprehension on narrative text.</p>

This study focuses on the improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text through Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) Method. This study deals with   classroom action research which was done in 6 meetings. The subject of this study was the second grade of SMP N 41 Medan, class VIII5. One class is totally taken as the subject of this study. The number of the sample is 34 students. The data of this study were obtained from the reading test, observation sheet, and diary notes. Based on the analysis data, it was found that the students’ achievement improved from the orientation test, test cycle I, and test cycle II. The findings of this study indicated that Experience- Text- Relationship (ETR) Method improved the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The students’ mean scores showed significant improvement, the mean of Cycle I = 64, 38 and the mean of Cycle II = 77, 20. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Numbered Head Together (NHT) was used as the technique to improve students’ reading comprehension which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research were the tenth grade students of social 3 class in SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Kakap in the academic year of 2017/2018. The class consisted of 35 students. The data collection used observation and measurement technique. The results showed that Numbered Head Together (NHT) technique could improve students’ ability in reading comprehension. Moreover, it could influence the students’ attention, and also motivated them in learning activities as the result of the groups’ discussion. Through the use of Numbered Head Together (NHT) technique, the students were able to participate in teaching learning process. They became serious in listening to the teacher’s explanations and worked cooperatively with their friends in each group. They were also more active, enthusiastic, and more confident in following class activities which resulted on the better atmosphere of the classroom that was more enjoyable and alive. Keywords:Reading Comprehension, Numbered Head Together and Classroom Action Research
