English speaking skills are very important to communicate in the world. Most of the people communicate with other people by using speaking skills. The difficult skill to master in learning English for Thai students is speaking skills, especially those who are learning English in Indonesia speaking skill seems to be the most difficult one to learn. Whereas, it is the most important skill that leads to effective communication between people. Speaking skill is considered as the most important means of communication. Although students still have problems with their English speaking skills. Thai students who study at the English department academic still get problems in speaking skills and it needs overcoming with their English problems. The main objective of this study is to know the problems of Thai students in mastering English speaking skills in the Islamic university of Lamongan (Indonesia).  Keywords: Thai Student, English speaking skill

This paper is purposed to find out the problems in speaking skills for English department student in STKIP Budidaya – Binjai. The speaking skill is the last position to cover up the four skills in English because speaking is the improving your ability to use four skills in English. Speaking needs some stimulation to attract the students speaks their ideas, opinion, or comments about something. The sample of the study is the third students in English department student, it is around 28 students. The data are collected through document by sound recording. The data analyzed by using the technique of analyze data. The result of the study is that it concludes that first question “What is the problem of speaking?” 10 students (35,71%) respond less of confident and 10 students (35,71%) respond less of vocabulary. The second question “How the ways do you practice your speaking skill?” 10 students (35,71%) respond watching movie. The third question “Do you agree that speaking is the most difficult to study comparing with another skills in English? And why?” 18 students (64,29%) respond yes, because it takes orally.

Technology plays a major role in learning and teaching languages. Technological advancement has opened up many opportunities for teachers and learners to use their learning and teaching resources online. Using YouTube within and outside the classroom can be very helpful in developing the ability to write, listen and pronounce. YouTube can be a valuable tool that can be used to teach multiple language skills. YouTube videos can be used to educate students about the varieties of English spoken around the world and provide them with authentic speaking skill materials. This paper suggests different ways to teach English speaking skills using YouTube.

People with disability have their chance to get the education as well as the other people. While they continue their study on higher level of education, they learn several subjects, included English. One of the skills should be mastered in learning English is speaking. Their speaking skill may different with the ordinary people who can see how the lecturers produce the utterances and watch the movies, etc. Thus, the people with disability have their own learning stategy to achieve the speaking skills. They use those learning strategies because they hope to master the speaking skills as good as the ordinary ones no matter what. The research method is descriptive qualitative. There are two participants in the research. They use application of screen reader to drill the vocabulary and pronounciation. Screen reader is one of the applications that help people with disability to master speaking skill. It can be downloaded in playstore. They learn speaking skill autodidactly. They also brave to practice their speaking skill with lecturers and classmate of English Department. Keywords:  people with disability, learning strategy, speaking skill

The purpose of this study is to describe the process of tutoring, describe the results of learning English, and find out the effect of learning guidance on speaking skills of Paket C learning participants in PKBM (Society Learning Centre) Sukabaru. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through data triangulation. Data is collected using test techniques to obtain data about the results of English speaking skill of learning community before and after being given tutorial through trainings. The results of the study show that learning guidance influences the results of English learning in term of speaking skills. Through the training of English speaking, the participants show improvement in mastering English with indicators of mastering many English vocabularies, and being able to speak fluently. On English language training, the researcher conducts the observations on speaking English demonstration and the participants can apply speaking comprehension

This research aims to describe: (1) students' English speaking skill in English immersion school; (2) students’ strengths and weaknesses in speaking skill in English immersion school; (3) factors affecting students' speaking skill in English immersion school. The research was designed as a case study, conducted at a school applying English immersion in Bondowoso, East Java, Indonesia in Academic Year 2017-2018. The research used purposive sampling. Data were collecated by interview, questionnairre, observation, and document analysis. The informants were grade 2 students, English teachers, and the school founder. The analysis found that: (1) on the scale of 1-5 (1=very bad, 2=bad, 3=fair, 4=good, 5=very good), students’ English speaking skills were at levels of very good (2.22%), good (6.67%), fair (37.78%), bad (44.44%), and very bad (8.89%); (2) students’ strengths in English speaking skills were related to vocabulary with average score of 2.7, and the weaknesses dealt with fluency with average score of 2.25; (3) factors that were assumed to affect students’ English speaking skills were environment, local accent, vocabulary mastery, English use, preference, and habits. It is recommended that all parties involved in the English immersion program evaluate the running of the program and the content of the program to provide learning outputs through English immersion. Commitment to using English should be strengthened, especially in English Week program. Improvement on English teachers’ is needed by involving them in trainings. Finally, similar research at non-English immersion school is necessary to ensure the comparative results gained from both types of school.

The purposes of the research were to find out whether the communicative competence in English speaking skills had a significant relationship with students' cognitive abilities was English speaking skill the most important achievement. How cognitive abilities and communicative competencies in English speaking skills were managed for the primary purposes of the English debating team. This research combined both qualitative and quantitative research. It used a descriptive method by distributing questionnaire, doing a survey, using observation, and doing an in-depth interview as the methods to collect data. The informants were twelve students who participated in the national teams of English Debating Championship of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta from 2013-2017. The results of this research reveal that there is a significant connection between communicative competence and cognitive ability in which cognitive ability has an important impact on thinking, critical analysis, and creativity. Furthermore, cognitive ability gives a direct influence on communicative competence in speaking English. This communicative competence is reflected in the ability to produce critical-intellectual andcommunicative-factual sentences in doing the analysis and giving the argumentation.

Applying technology in learning English language is indispensable in the period of industry 4.0 and global integration. However, what technological techniques should be applied in teaching and learning process is the most serious concern. Evidence shows that different technological applications may lead to various learning outcomes, detrimental effects, even spoiling learning interest or motivations. Therefore, this paper is aimed not only to explore the multiple dimensions of recoding video clips in group (RVCIG) in learning English speaking skill but also illustrate how this activity (RVCIG) influences on learners’ English speaking  improvement. Apparently, these explorations and illustrations help to consider whether this RVCIG is widely used in teaching English speaking process or not. To do that, a quantitative research method with the tool of semi - structure interview is used to collect various information, mixed feedbacks or motivations from 2 groups of students fully participating in recording three video clips in group within course. Additionally, a questionnaire survey is also sent to 33 English learners for exploring both commendable and detrimental influences of this RVCIG on English speaking development. The findings indicate that RVCIG makes learners have various opposite experiences in language competence, confident expression, and communication, as well as cope with unavoidable challenges of time consuming, technological problems, and group member’ disagreements. Whatever advantages or disadvantages of this RVCIG activity has, learners also express their interest and expectation of recording video clips in group for purposes of English speaking improvement, mutual engagement, collaborative learning and building friendship.

This study aims to recognize the problems that students of English department face when they speak English. To achieve the objective of the investigation a quantitative research was designed. A questionnaire was used as the main data collection tool. The findings of the study showed that majority of the students have a positive perception about importance and necessity of speaking skill. According to the findings most of the students do not have the opportunity of practicing English speaking out of the class. Moreover, dissimilarity in English education background of the students are another challenge which is recognized in outcome of the study. Furthermore, the findings showed that most of the students feel motivated and confident in speaking performance. Moreover, the findings also revealed that the teachers have significant role for motivating the students in speaking performance. To sum up, the result exposed that students are appreciated and praised when they perform a speaking task efficiently.


The spread of English is considered as a tool of British political and linguistic imperialism in effects of globalization. Kachrus Three Circle model of World Englishes has always played significant role in the categorization of the spread of English. This model is always used as an important tool to critically analyze the distributed circle of English speaking regions in the world where English is dominant over other languages and cultures. In the present study the outer circle from Kachrus model is focused. A Man of the People by Chinua Achebe has been analysed through the lens of Kachrus Three Circle Model of World Englishes. The study finds that the spread of English is basically a tool used for homogenized attack by British imperialism in order to subdue other cultures, politically and linguistically.
